The New Carlisle News has confirmed that the charges against Brandon Murray were dismissed without prejudice in Logan County Municipal Court on October 16, 2017.

We contacted Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart who is handling the case and he confirmed in a phone interview that next steps are to have the case presented to the Grand Jury when they meet in mid November.  Stewart stated that this is the plan at this time regarding the charges of rape and gross sexual imposition that were filed against Murray for an incident that allegedly occurred in a vehicle outside of Froggy’s bar at Indian Lake in June of this year.

FIRST REPORT

Reports coming out of Logan County support that a Medway resident has been arrested on multiple felony sex charges that date back to an alleged incident at Indian Lake.

Murray age 34 is facing charges of rape and gross sexual imposition after he allegedly fondled and sexually assaulted a woman who later went to the office of the Sheriff of Logan County to report the incident.  The report comes from an encounter in a vehicle outside of Froggy’s a bar at the popular summer resort area.  The information is contained in the statement of facts on file with the Bellefontaine Municipal Court.

The incident is reported to have occurred on June 25.

“They came to the bar for day drinking,” said Detective Mike Brugler of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. “They were soon all intoxicated, except for the driver.”

“The suspect, the victim and the suspect’s wife went to their vehicle and the wife passed out almost immediately,” said Brugler. “The suspect and the victim were alone for only about 5-10 minutes.”

The victim came forward about six weeks after the incident. Brugler said that is not uncommon for rape victims.

Murray was arrested at his workplace and has denied allegations telling investigators that the contact was consensual.  He was being held on $100,000 bond.  His preliminary court appearance in Bellefontaine is scheduled for October 16, 2017.
