It’s no secret that when Tecumseh is hitting their shots, their opponent is in for a long night. Last week in a game against Northmont, that was indeed the case.

The Arrows took an eight-point lead at halftime, and used a 21-9 fourth quarter to pull away from the T-Bolts 77-53 in a non-league contest in Englewood.

Lindsey Nartker and Corinne Thomas did most of the damage with 23 points each, while Presley Griffitts added 18 and Danielle Franklin scored nine in the win.

“It has been a somewhat turbulent few days and the kids reacted tonight,” said Tecumseh acting head coach Tom Rettig, filling in for Danielle Thomas who sat out two games due to receiving two technical fouls in their previous game. “There are some things we can do better, but it’s only the twelfth game of the year. The things that Coach Thomas has taught them, they did a nice job with. I think we can rebound the ball better than we did, but that is something we can clean up on.”

It took less than 15 seconds for the Arrows to get on the board, as the freshman Thomas buried a 15-footer, and the Arrows took a 6-5 lead and built it to 14-5 behind four points from Franklin and a three from Thomas.

Erin Mangen kept the Bolts in the game early as she buried three consecutive three-pointers for Northmont and cut the Tecumseh lead to 16-14 after the opening period of play.

While Northmont never took the lead, they battled the Arrows early in the second. Three times they tied the game before Tecumseh reeled off ten straight points, including six in a row from Griffitts and four from Nartker. They maintained their lead at the half as Thomas connected on a huge three in the closing seconds of the half, and Tecumseh took a 35-27 lead into the break.

“We had some early fouls which made us change our strategy a little bit, but when we came out in the second half and threw the press at them, it was lights out,” Rettig said.

Tecumseh did score early and often in the third period, as they outscored Northmont 8-2 to start the third including six points from Griffitts to take a 43-29 lead. Each time Northmont would try to get the momentum the Arrows would answer.

*Tecumseh also had little trouble with Bellefontaine last week, 73-37 as they led 41-18 at the half and never looked back.

Nartker led the Arrows with 21 points and seven rebounds, Thomas and Franklin each added 17, and Griffitts added 12 points and seven steals. Smith hit two three’s and added six points.

*Finally last week, the Arrows dominated Shawnee 83-45 in another CBC contest, as the division-leading Arrows maintained their lead in the division with a perfect 6-0 record, holding a one game lead over Tippecanoe. Coach Thomas also returned to the bench for the Arrows in this contest.

Smith scored 23 points to lead the Arrows, including tying her school-record seven three-pointers. Nartker added 17 to continue her hot play, while Griffitts scored 16, Thomas 13, Franklin 12 and Berner with two.

The Arrows travel to Kenton Ridge tomorrow night, then will be in the Classic in the Country on Saturday morning at 11:40 a.m. against the favorites to challenge for the Ohio Division Three state crown, Doylestown Chippewa, coached by longtime coach Dennis Schrock.
