It’s early in the track season, but the Tecumseh girls’ team is off to a fast start.

A solid performance at the Sidney Invitational last week was rewarded with a meet championship, as Tecumseh scored 131 points, 14 points ahead of their closest competition from Russia.

As the event opened with the 3200 relay, the Arrows finished second with a 10:57.28 (Morgan Crowley, Natalie Allen, Staci Harmon and Brooke Hoffman).

Tecumseh junior Alina Blunk finished fifth with 18.56, followed closely by teammate Macy Ricks 18.77.

Jasmine Hassell ran well in the 100 meter dash, finishing third with a 13.00. The Arrows 800 relay team of Paige Benton, Hailey Beel, Audrey Diller and Hannah Marquette placed second overall with a finish of 1:52.82.

Brooke Hoffman ran to an easy victory in the 1600, as the Tecumseh junior finished the event in 5:36.88. Another win from the Arrows came in the 400 relay, as Benton, Beel, Kiya Dennis and Hassell edged Trotwood with a time of 52.60.

In the 400 dash, Marquette placed second with a 1:03.19, while Harmon ran a 2:47.48 good enough for a fifth place finish in the 800 run.

Beel and Dennis both placed in the top five of the 200 dash, as Beel was fourth (28.11) and Dennis (28.66).

In the 3200 run, Emma Hoover placed fourth overall with a 13:26.66, while Morgan Crowley was fourth (13:49.92). Finally in the track events, the 1600 relay team of Marquette, Kinley Berner, Beel and Macy Ricks was fifth.

Hassell took over in the field events, finishing first in the high jump, leaping 4-foot-8 with teammate Danielle Franklin was third at 4-foot-6. Hassell also won the long jump with a leap of 14-foot, 9.5-inches. Finally in the field events, Tecumseh’s Aurora Miller was second in the discus with a toss of 86-feet, 4-inches.

Over in the boys’ race, the Arrows finished fifth overall with 62.5 points.

The 3200 team of Trent Studebaker, Erich Bledsoe, Garrett Gemmaka and Brandon Castillo placed fourth with a time of 9:20.31.

Ross Warren won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.99 and the 300 hurdles, as he ran that event in 42.06.

In the 100 dash, Jonathon Tomaro placed fifth with a time of 11.64, while in the 800 run, it was Studebaker placing fifth with a time of 2:20.81.

The field events saw Kyle Holt place fourth in the discus with a toss of 107-feet, 11-inches. Also in the pole vault, it was DJ Johnston with a fifth place finish, and his Arrows teammate Simon Herbert placing sixth.
