Three area athletes took home county titles last week, as the Miami County Track Championships were held at Piqua High School.

Tippecanoe’s Nathan Hamberg finished first overall in the 400 meter dash, as the Tipp senior ran 52.78, and Adam Greishop ran to a county title in the boys 800 meter run, with a 2:04.15.

Korry Hamlin also dominated the boys 3200 meter run, as the Bees junior ran 10:18.92, nearly 30 seconds ahead of Ethan Sinning, the Tippecanoe junior who was second at 10:44.91.

Opening the day were the 4x8 relays, and in the girls’ race, Bethel placed seventh overall with Grable, Hoeferlin, Balkcom and Sebastian finished the race in 12:00.69. In the boys’ event, Tipp placed third with a time of 8:52.27 for Dix, Stearns, Spencer and Fraylick.

Lydia Stueve from Tipp placed second overall in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.38, with Tori Livesay finishing 11th. In the boys’ race, Larry Kennedy of Tipp and Connor Whelan of Bethel both fell short of earning team points.

In the 4x2 girls’ relay, Livesay, Bruner, Miller and Spitzer placed seventh for Tipp with a time of 2:07.44, while the Bethel team of Marzoff, Pencil, Pytel and Poole finished tenth. Tipp also placed fifth in the boys’ 4x2, as Greishop, Ramsey, Ebanks and Dilworth ran 1:39.20, with Bethel finishing eighth, as Gatrell, Pahal, Whelen and Johnson finished with a time of 1:53.12.

The girls’ 1600 saw Tipp sophomore Katie Taylor finished third with a time of 5:20.48, with teammate Abby Halsey was sixth. Bryce Conley also placed high in the boys’ race, as the Tipp sophomore was second with a 4:37.43, with the Tipp duo Ben Jans fifth and Austin Rogers sixth.

Both Tipp and Bethel saw their 4x1 girls’ teams place, as the Red Devils finished sixth (Bashore, Stueve, Jobe, Spitzer) while Bethel was seventh (Johnson, Yarwick, Pike, Smith). For the boys, Tipp’s team of Doll, Burritt, Ramsey and Ebanks was fifth. Bethel also placed eighth, as Leet, Johnson, Pahal and Inman was eighth overall.

The Tipp duo of Caley DeHass and Tasha Bruner were seventh and eighth in the girls’ 400, while Casey Abney finished fifth in the boys’ race for Tipp.

Molly Spitzer finished seventh overall in the girls’ 300 hurdles, as the Tipp junior ran 53.57.

In the girls’ 800 meter run, Tipp sophomore Stephanie Fink ran to a sixth place finish with a time of 2:35.97. In addition to the boys’ title for Greishop, his Tipp teammate Michael Stearns was third with a 2:08.86, while Keenan Fraylick also finished sixth.

Brandon Dilworth finished seventh in the boys 200 meter dash, while in the final two distance races, local runners did well.

In the girls’ 3200, Fink was fourth (12:18.72), while just missing a top eight finish was the Red Devils’ Bekah Shininger who finished ninth.

Finally in the girls’ 4x4, Tippecanoe (DeHass, Dietz, Taylor, Titley) finished fourth, while Bethel’s Grable, McCabe, Hoeferlin and Gatrell was ninth. The boys’ race saw Tipp finish fifth (Hamberg, Doll, Greishop and Abney) and Bethel eighth (Inman, Whelen, Gatrell and Hamlin).

*The field events also saw several area kids score points for their team. In the high jump, Brielle Gatrell from Bethel placed sixth as the freshman jumped 4-8. Kayla Grable also placed in the long jump for the Bees, as she finished eighth at 14-6.

In the discus, Tipp’s Marissa Garber tossed 98-1 placing her seventh, while Carrisa Ferrell placed ninth. Isaac Haas also earned Tipp some points, with a sixth place finish at 129-10. Haas also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 41-5.

Rebeka Hartman from Tipp also finished seventh in the pole vault event with a vault of 6-6. The Tipp boys also saw two vaulters place in the top eight, as Mason Doll was fourth at 11-feet, while Tyler Hopper was sixth.
