Clark County will be hosting a free Bicentennial Farms tour from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 to help commemorate the county’s rich agricultural history as part of its Bicentennial celebration this year.
Clark County has 39 certified Century Farms, the most of any county in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
The tour will consist of visiting five of the county’s 200-year-old farms, including Wallace Farm (1802) on Union Road, Wolfe Farm (1805) on West National Road, Hardacre Farms (1811) on North Hampton Road, Stickney Farm (1805) on Neer Road and Grandview Farms (1811) at both 5890 Moorefield Road and 5050 Moorefield Road.
All five farms will be open to the public and owners will be available to answer questions about the history of their properties.
Clark County has received more awards for farmland preservation than any other county in the state. It also has more than 15,600 acres of protected farmland, the most of any county in the state, according to the Tecumseh Land Trust.
