Dry branch fire squad, international bluegrass and perennial favorite with New Carlisle fans, will once again open New Carlisle Chautauqua council’s twenty-fourth annual summer-in-the-park entertainment series on Sunday evening June 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Dry branch is known for its exceptional live performances and the self-deprecating humor and intelligences that leader Ron Thomson brings to the stage. Before forming his own band back in 1976, Ron, fresh out of college, was a member of Ralph Stanley’s clinch mountain boys, a major first generation bluegrass band. Ron has been the one constant in the forty years of dry branch’s existence. The band is currently composed of Brian Aldridge on guitar and mandolin, Tom Boyd, banjo and resophonic guitar, Dan Russell, bass and Ron on mandolin, guitar, banjo, and occasionally will play the spoons for his audience.

Chautauqua will feature Corky’s Old Time Classic Rock and roll band on Sunday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. This classic rock and roll group has been entertainment audiences throughout southwest Ohio and is considered as one of the best in the valley. Corky, dirk, frank, dale and lead vocalist Brenda Allen have been performing those timeless great hits of the 50’s, 60’s ns 70’s, that delight their audience, both young and old alike. Such oldies like hey jude, dream lover, whole lotta lovin, let the good times roll hang on snoopy and a host of others.

Chautauqua is extremely honored and pleased to be able to bring Kate Hasting, hometown rising country star, and the Kate Hasting band back home to new carlisle to perform in concert on the Smith Park Amphitheater Stage, Sunday, July 10.

Kate, northwestern high school 2006 graduate, has just recently been named 2016 country music association emerging artists for the cma festival, causing many in the Nashville scene to take notice of this talented singer as well as song writer. The band, featuring Kate as lead vocalist, including Josh Beale on guitar and cam smith on drums, along with full compliment of musicians, have been quite busy fulfilling dates at the Opry mill and a number of other venues around Nashville, doing a great deal of traveling around the country playing fairs and festival, plus opening up for major country artists such as Joe Diffie, the Gatlin Brothers, Kelly Pickler Randy Houser, Colt Ford and Craig Morgan.

Chautauqua is made possible through the support of our event sponsor, the Springfield foundation, and our local businesses, civic organizations, individuals, in kind support and our free-will collection taken at the concerts. In the event of inclement weather concerts are moved to the new carlisle elementary school located at 1203 Kennison drive. Mark your calendars and plan to attend summer-in-the-park activities.
