An initiative created by a new marketing director will make it more affordable for local residents to consider membership at the New Carlisle Sports and Fitness Center. Offering income-based membership fees and accepting discounts like corporate wellness and senior programs, the fitness center hopes to bring more people through its doors to discuss available options.

Bryan Moore, who was hired by the center at the end of last year, said his primary objective was to ensure that lower-income families had more access to the components of a healthier way of living.

“My first priority was to develop and implement a pricing plan to make it affordable for families that face the financial difficulties that prevent them from the opportunities of having a healthier lifestyle,” said Moore.

He noted that Clark County is among the more obese counties in the state, ranking 70th of Ohio’s 88 counties. His initial research at New Carlisle Sports and Fitness indicated that roughly 75 percent of residents from New Carlisle and the surrounding communities like Park Layne, Medway, and Crystal Lakes could not afford the fitness center’s prices. Households with an annual income of $50,000 or less are eligible for income-based membership fees, and Moore said it is best for those interest in the program to schedule an appointment to speak with him, as the prices are dependent upon many factors and could be subject to change based on feedback received in the next few weeks.

Moore said the center now also accepts discount options such as GlobalFit and programs for military members, veterans, and first responders. He said many insurance companies offer discounts for health and wellness programs, naming Aetna, GEHA, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as some examples, noting that he knows of 60 local companies with insurance that offers discounts on healthier lifestyle changes.

The fitness center has also teamed up with one local business to promote an active lifestyle, as Michael Maxwell of Arrowhead Tax Service is now offering the option of a free Day Pass to the center for those who do their taxes with him.

Club membership entitles the member to the facilities and the sauna as well as all fitness classes including zumba. The site does offer personal massage therapy swim lessons, and tanning as well for an additional fee.

Moore said the preferred method of discussing all available discount options is in-person, and those interested should schedule an appointment with him by calling 937-846-1000.
