DSC 6067For the second time in one week, a Tecumseh Middle School student is being held in juvenile detention center on charges of inducing panic.

On Friday, March 11, the Clark County Sheriff's Office investigated two separate school threats that were written on the fixtures in the girl's restroom at Tecumseh Middle School. This is the sixth time since February 22 that Deputies have responded to school for threats.

According the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the school staff notified the Sheriff's Office of the first threat around 10:30 am today. Uniformed Deputies and Detectives investigated the threat but were unable to determine who was responsible for the writing.

Sheriff's Department personnel checked each bathroom that morning to assure no more writings were in the bathrooms. "We found some stuff that the janitors had missed" said Sergeant Ralph Underwood.

Around 3:30 the same day, the staff at Tecumseh Middle School contacted the Sheriff's Office once again and reported that a new threat had been written in the girls' restroom. Uniformed Deputies and Investigators responded back to the school to investigate this incident.

The threat was again non-specific, but threatened violence within the school. The threat was written on a bathroom fixture with a very distinct color marker. Investigators were able to interview potential witnesses and quickly identify a possible suspect.

The suspect was identified as 12 year old female student. She was charged with one count of inducing panic and one count of criminal mischief. She was transported to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

On Friday, March 4, another 12 year old Tecumseh Middle School girl was charged with inducing panic, aggravated menacing and two counts of criminal mischief after allegedly writing threats on the girls restroom walls on two separate occasions.

"This behavior shall not be tolerated. This conduct causes the entire community to feel threatened and be fearful" said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly. "Schools are to be safe places for our children."

The middle school dance will still be held according to Tecumseh Superintendent Norm Glismann, adding “I’m not going to let the bad choices of a few ruin (the dance) for everyone.”
