Sunday 1/3

6:47 p.m. To Lundgren Rd. for a report of a domestic dispute. A woman reported that she was running the sweeper when her daughter came up and pushed her. The daughter and her grandmother stated that the woman was out of control and hit both of them. Both filled out statements and said that they would assist in prosecution of the woman. The daughter said her mother became upset when she asked about her younger sister who was at a neighbor’s home. She said she is 27 weeks pregnant and her mother pushed her in her belly and smashed her hand into her face. She said her mother also knocked her grandmother into the couch. She said the grandmother was trying to break up the fight and the mother punched her in the face. The woman was arrested for two counts of assault, one count of misdemeanor domestic violence for assaulting her mother and one count of felony domestic violence for assaulting her pregnant daughter. While speaking with the woman, several items of drug paraphernalia were found, and they were submitted into evidence to be destroyed. The woman was transported to the Clark County Jail.

Monday 1/4

4:35 p.m. To W. National Rd. for a report of a woman not breathing. The woman’s son said he had just arrived home and she just fell onto the floor. She was revived with Narcan and refused to go with Medics to the hospital. No family members knew if she used drugs, nor was there any evidence of drug abuse. Squad personnel believed drugs were involved since she responded to Narcan.

Tuesday 1/5

1:30 p.m. To Sunrise Terrace for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she allowed her daughter to use her tattoo equipment to do some touch-up work. She said that her daughter left for Florida without returning the equipment. She said that on December 17, she saw that a man in New Carlisle advertised on Facebook that he had similar equipment for sale. Deputies were unable to locate the man who owned the Facebook page.

7:41 p.m. To the area of Dille Rd. and Tulip Rd. for a report of a man asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. Upon deputy’s arrival, the driver was in the back of a Bethel Twp. squad. During the investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A small silver pipe was found in his pocket. He said he uses it for “smoking weed.” The pipe was submitted into evidence. The driver was cited for OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday 1/6

6:04 p.m. To Orth Dr. for a report of an assault. A man reported that he was at a store on N. Main St. and was getting into his vehicle. He said that the driver of a vehicle next to his, who is known to him, began exchanging words with him. He said as he got into his vehicle, the friend slammed his door shut and punched him in the eye. He said the friend then pulled his hoodie over his head and punched him 4 or 5 more times causing a laceration to his right ear. The deputy went to the store to see if there were any witnesses or surveillance video but was unsuccessful. A warrant was issued against the friend for one count of assault.

Thursday 1/7

11:50 a.m. To Bowser Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that he believes that his mother took a book of his checks, but is unsure of when it happened. He said that a check was cleared from his account yesterday in the amount of $14,000. He said the check was made out to his mother. He said he did not write the check and did not recognize the signature. He said that he and his mother had been fighting over money that his father left him when he passed away. At 1:00 p.m. the next day, the mother called and said that a bank employee said that the signature on the check appeared to be her son’s. She said that he had brought her the check because he tried to transfer the money into her account but was unsuccessful. She said that he was to make two $14,000 payments to her, but made one and said he was not going to make the second one. She said she believes that he was upset and made a false report of a stolen check. The financial institution is investigating the incident.

6:27 p.m. To Chestnut Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that her grandson may be using drugs and took several of her items and pawned them. She showed deputies a soap dish with a small torch, two razor blades and a glass tube with a bulb at the bottom and burn marks on it, three Tylenol capsules, two cut straws and two small empty baggies. She said that he is using them for drugs. The woman’s granddaughter said that the grandson called her and said “Go clean up that room and see if you find that dope.” She said she did so and found the same items and notified her grandmother. The woman said her grandson sometimes stays with her, but she is unsure of his whereabouts. She itemized several missing items and said that she would press charges if he pawned the items. She was advised to lock the doors in case he came back for the drugs. She was also advised to trespass him from her property.

Friday 1/8

6:55 a.m. A Lake Rd. resident called to report that a male subject was sitting on her bench outside her residence and was being held there by another male. She said the other male told her to call 911 and advised that he had caught the subject breaking into a house. When deputies arrived, the man stated that he was at a friend’s home on Kennedy Dr. As he was walking back, he heard noise coming from a vacant home on the corner of Kennedy and Beach Drives. He said he yelled and saw three subjects run from the rear of the house. He said he later saw one of the subjects on Beach Dr. He said he chased the subject and caught him at the RP’s residence. A ski mask was found near the bench, and the man said that it was worn by the suspect. Deputies then went to the vacant home which had been vacant for years and did not appear to have anything of value in it. The man said he could not confirm that the suspect he captured was in the home. Deputies went to the suspect’s home but could not get an answer.

9:10 a.m. To Gerlaugh Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she called her bank about checks that were written on her account that she did not write. She said the bank advised her that two $120 checks were written at a Springfield store. She suspects her boyfriend, who was at her home over the weekend, took them. She could not prove it, though. She said that the checks were taken from the back of her checkbook so that she would not notice them missing.

10:30 a.m. To McKees Mill Run for a report of a found item. A city employee reported finding a sword at the dead end of McKees Mill Run. It was collected and placed into evidence.

4:53 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her boyfriend kicked the door open and slapped her. She did not wish to press charges, saying she did not want him to go to jail. She said she was going to her mother’s for the evening and was given information on obtaining a protection order.

5:27 p.m. To Cliffside Dr. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported hearing someone being loud outside. She said she was afraid, so she hid in her home. After the noise stopped, she went outside to find all four of her tires had been slashed. A neighbor said he witnessed the incident and got a license number. The neighbor said he saw the woman’s boyfriend slash the tires and watched them go flat. He also gave the license number of the vehicle he left in. Deputies visited the owner of the vehicle who admitted to trespassing but did not slash the tires. He was ordered into court.

6:54 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a theft. A store employee showed deputies surveillance video of a tall white male opening a box of perfume and stuffing it in his pocket. His female counterpart was seen grabbing a feminine hygiene product and putting it into her clothing. Both left without paying for the items. The employee got a license number that came back to a possible suspect for the male half. The employee said that his boss would have to provide a copy of the surveillance video.

7:28 p.m. To N. Main St. for a private property hit-skip crash. A woman reported that she and another vehicle were backing out of parking spaces when they struck each other. She said she got out to check the damage and the driver of the other vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler, began yelling and cursing at her stating that she was at fault. She said that when she asked the other driver for her information, the other driver drove off at a high rate of speed. Soon afterward, the driver of the Jeep called and said that after the vehicles struck, the woman got out and began yelling and screaming at her, telling her to “just go, get out of here.” Both parties were advised that no charges could be filed because the accident occurred on private property.

8:20 p.m. To Wendall Ave. for a report of a burglary. A man reported that he was in his game room when he heard his dogs barking and acting strangely. He said he saw an arm reach through a window. He said he grabbed his pistol, pointed it at the suspect and told him to leave. He said the suspect said “I’m looking for my buddy that used to live here.” The man stated that he had lived there for five years. He said the suspect, a tall thin white male, fled in an unknown direction.

11:13 p.m. To Coachhill Ln. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that her husband took out the trash and noticed that their daughter’s bicycle was missing. There are no suspects.

11:58 p.m. To Sheehan Ave. for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies saw a male try to run out the rear door. A deputy went to the back door but the male did not go out. Dispatch advised that the male had an active warrant. A woman reported that her daughter was asleep in the bedroom but gave permission to search it. The deputy tried to open the closet door and was met with resistance as if someone were holding it closed. He opened the door and the male subject crouched on the floor. He was ordered to surrender and he complied. A deputy grabbed his right hand and the suspect tried to pull away. He was ordered to stop resisting, and the deputy felt the suspect touch his pepper spray. The deputy placed his elbow on the back of the suspect’s head and pushed down and the suspect released his hold. While he was placed in a cruiser, deputies noticed that his chin was bleeding, so Bethel Twp. Medics were called. The suspect refused medical attention. The woman reported that the two were involved in an argument but could not recall what started it. She said that there was no violence and no threats. While enroute to the jail, the suspect was apologetic. He had a warrant from Clark County for Domestic Violence and two additional warrants from Greene County. He was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

Saturday 1/9

4:14 a.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. An intoxicated male told deputies to have his live-in girlfriend removed from the residence. The girlfriend said that they had been out to dinner with some friends and the man had some alcoholic beverages with dinner. She said that when they returned, he wanted to go to Speedway for more beer. She said that she drove him there to find that they had stopped selling alcohol for the night. She said he returned to the vehicle very irate. She said that when they returned home, he noticed that a $100 bill was missing. They searched outside and even went back to Speedway looking for it, but with no luck. She said that when they returned home, he became verbally abusive and was yelling at her blaming her for losing the money. She said he began choking her, so she screamed and grabbed her phone to call 911. She said he released her and she grabbed the keys to her vehicle, but he took them from her. When she screamed, it alerted her mother, who also lives at the residence. The mother only observed the man yelling at her daughter. The man then went inside and pushed the mother out the front door, told her to get her belongings and leave. The girlfriend had a scratch on her neck. She completed a statement and the boyfriend was charged with one count of Domestic Violence and one count of Assault. He was transported to the Clark County Jail.

8:38 a.m. To School Rd. for a report of breaking and entering. A man reported that someone broke into his shed and took several items valued at around $1600. He said that the suspect put the stolen items into his wheeled trash cans and the tracks were followed up the street but soon ended. The shed’s padlock had been cut and was nowhere to be found. There are no suspects.

10:49 a.m. To Fenwick Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her brother-in-law is drunk and will not leave. She said that he is homeless and she allows him to stay at her home during the winter months. She said that he was told that he is not allowed to drink while he is staying with her. The brother-in-law was intoxicated and said that the woman was lying. He said that a friend on Orth Dr. would allow him to stay there. Deputies transported the brother-in-law to the Orth Dr. residence.

3:29 p.m. To Orth Dr. for a report of a found item. A woman reported finding a syringe in the street. It was taken into property to be destroyed.

4:15 p.m. To John Ave. for a report of a neighbor dispute. A woman reported that her neighbors constantly calling her and yelling at her to turn down the music. There was no music playing when the deputy arrived. The maintenance man at the park stated that the neighbors were outside yelling profanities at the woman and threatening her. The neighbor said that the woman is constantly playing music so loud that they can hear it over their TV. She said that the woman calls her and yells profanities at her when they are outside. She was advised to call deputies if she is playing music too loudly, and not to handle it herself. The woman was advised the same way. All sides said they understood.

6:18 p.m. To Orth Dr. for a report of a domestic dispute. A man reported that he and his girlfriend were arguing over a cell phone. He said he became angry and started yelling at her and she locked him out of the house. The girlfriend said when the boyfriend gets angry he gets violent and she locked him out of the house for her and her childrens’ safety. She said that he has a history of domestic violence against her, but there was no violence tonight. She said she wanted him to leave to calm down. He agreed to leave for a few hours.

8:31 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of a custody issue. A man reported that he was to pick up his child at 6:00 p.m., but the mother refused to give the child to him. He had his court custody paperwork which stated that the two parents have shared parenting. The deputy followed him to the mother’s home but she said that she is not allowing him to take the child. She said that she filed a report on January 1 after her son told her that his father takes him around strange men and buys drugs. She said that she could be held in contempt of court, but she was more concerned with her child’s welfare. The man was advised to contact his attorney.

Sunday 1/10

11:18 p.m. Suspicious activity in the 5500 block of Pisgah Road. Deputy responded and spoke with a person who was confused about their actual age. Deputy spoke with a male who stated the female was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. After speaking with the female again she was in a better state of mind and realized nothing was wrong. Deputy referred to male to Project Livesaver for assistance.

Wednesday 1/11

4:04 a.m. OVI arrest in the 9400 block of Palmer Road. Deputy was on routine patrol when vehicle pulled into a business that was being checked. At the conclusion of the investigation, Alex Pizzo was taken into custody for OVI and no operator’s license. Pizzo admitted to using heroin earlier in the morning.

4:15 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of US Route 40 and Palmer Road. While on patrol in the area of Palmer Rd and Bellefontaine Rd a vehicle was observed traveling greater than the posted speed limit and appeared to be accelerating quickly. A traffic stop was initiated and it was discovered the driver, Darrell E. Spitler was currently under suspension. Spitler was cited and released to a licensed driver.

7:47 a.m. Theft not in progress reported in the 2900 block of Rudy Road. RP reported a theft of approximately $10 in loose change and keys to a local school were stolen from two unlocked vehicles. There was no damage to the vehicles and they were both covered in snow resulting in no possible evidence to be collected. RP said the tire tracks in the front yard were not his. The tracks were photographed as evidence. No leads at this time.

Thursday 1/12

1:16 p.m. Criminal damage reported in the 8500 block of Wildcat Road. RP stated a semi-truck backed into his driveway and slid off the pavement into the grass. The semi-trailer got stuck and caused some damage to the ground. The semi driver stated he missed his delivery driveway and was attempting to turn

around here. His trailer slid off the pavement and got stuck. Sandy’s towing responded and pulled the semi back onto the road. Both parties were advised to exchange information for repairing any damage occurred. The deputy would also file a report to document the incident.
