Sunday 11/15

4:19 p.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of vandalism. A man reported that his vehicle had been keyed. There are no suspects.

8:05 p.m. Traffic stop in the 6700 block of W. National Rd. The driver had been driving erratically and said that he was diabetic and his sugar was probably low. A squad was called, and the deputy could smell an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The squad tested his blood sugar, and it was 122. He failed several field sobriety tests and was charged with OVI and marked lanes.

Monday 11/16

6:56 a.m. To N. Church St. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone broke into her vehicle and took a pair of sunglasses. She also stated that someone entered her boyfriend’s vehicle and took some loose change. Both vehicles were left unlocked.

8:09 a.m. To Park Layne Elementary School for a report of an assault. A woman asked to meet deputies at the school. She said that she and her husband had been arguing at their home on Styer Dr. when he grabbed her neck and lifted her up. She said that while he had hold of her neck, he told her to get out of the house, adding “I am going to kill you.” She said he let go and threw her purse at her. She had marks on her neck consistent with her story. Deputies went to the home and arrested the husband for domestic violence and assault and transported him to the Clark County Jail.

1:34 p.m. To Caldwell Circle for a report of a theft. A woman reported that her daughter asked if she could use the woman’s vehicle and she said no because the insurance had lapsed. She said that the daughter took the key from her and left in the vehicle. A warrant was issued against the daughter for theft of the motor vehicle.

4:44 p.m. To N. Scott St. for a report of breaking and entering. A neighbor called to report that three people were inside a vacant residence. Two individuals were located in the living room and a third individual tried to flee. While patting down a female subject, a syringe was found in her pocket. A male subject had a white pill in his pocket. The subject did not know what it was. He said that a friend gave them permission to be in the home, but would not identify the friend saying, “I am not going to rat on anyone. If it comes to the Prosecutor, I will tell them the name at that time.” The property owner soon arrived on the scene and stated that no one had permission to be in the home. The female subject was charged with one count of Breaking and Entering and one count of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The male subject was charged with one count of Breaking and Entering and was advised that he could face a drug charge, pending lab results of the pill. A search of the subjects yielded several hypodermic needles, pills, several sets of keys, credit cards belonging to several different people, social security cards for several people, Ohio identification cards, a GPS unit and a cell phone.  Both were transported to the Clark County Jail.

9:58 p.m. To Wellington Dr. A woman reported that she has custody of her great-grandchildren, ages 2 and 7. She said that another granddaughter was watching the children while she worked. She said that the children’s mother came to the home and wanted to take the children with her. The babysitter said no. The mother then became angry and punched a window, breaking it to pieces. The mother was charged with one count of criminal damaging.

Tuesday 11/17

2:57 p.m. To W. Lake Ave. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone had rummaged through her vehicle and took a GPS unit.

5:52 p.m. To Lakeshore Dr. for a report of breaking and entering. A man reported that someone cut the lock off of his utility trailer and took a number of items from it. There are no suspects.

7:19 p.m. To Campbell Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that he returned home from work to find the gate to his back yard fence was open. He said he checked his garage and found that his dirt bike was missing. There was no damage done to gain entry to the garage. His girlfriend said that the dog was going crazy earlier that day. There are no suspects.

11:03 p.m. To Rosewood Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her husband was asleep when her son and his girlfriend entered the home making noise and awoke her husband. She said that the girlfriend locked herself in a bedroom and the son was kicking the door. She said her husband told the son to stop kicking the door, and the son attacked the husband. She said that the two were wrestling around and she could not separate them. The husband reported that the son punched him several times in the face. He had injuries to his face but refused medical treatment. He said that they had taken the son in because he had lost his home. The father refused to press charges, stating that no one should be in jail over the holidays. He was advised that the State of Ohio would be picking up charges due to his statement and his physical injuries. The son was charged with Domestic Violence and Assault.

Wednesday 11/18

6:56 a.m. To Narcissus Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that when he went to work he entered his unlocked vehicle and found papers strewn throughout. Several items were taken.

8:44 a.m. To King Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that overnight someone took the battery from her vehicle. She said that the vehicle was unlocked and the battery was several years old.

10:26 a.m. To John St. for a report of breaking and entering. A woman reported that someone had entered her shed and took several items. She said that her handyman had accidentally left the shed unlocked.

2:33 p.m. To Galewood Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that sometime overnight, someone entered his vehicle and took a bow and three arrows.

3:15 p.m. To the Pike Twp. Firehouse. A woman asked to meet deputies there for a peace officer call to pick up a vehicle. She said she had sold it to a man who has not been making payments. They went to the man’s home and explained the situation. He said that he did not know how they could do this, and he was advised that they were following the Sheriff’s orders. He said that the woman could come back tomorrow to get the vehicle to give him a chance to remove the tires that he had bought for it. He was advised that if he wanted to keep the tires, he had to change them now. He was not happy, since it was raining, but he changed the tires and the woman left with her vehicle.

Thursday 11/19

3:50 a.m. To the 11000 block of W. National Rd. for a report of an accident. A westbound driver stated that an animal darted out in front of her vehicle. She said she applied the brakes to avoid contact with the animal, went into a skid and went off the roadway onto an embankment, then past a driveway coming to rest beside the roadway. She was charged with failure to control.

11:19 a.m. To Copey’s Butcher Shop. A man reported that he had found a dead deer on Rt. 201 near the Huber YMCA. He said that the deer was warm to the touch, so he took it to Copey’s to be processed to feed others. Copey’s refused to accept it since there was no release form or deer tag. The deputy inspected the deer and found a gunshot wound behind the deer’s ear. ODNR was contacted and they released the deer to be processed but requested that the head and hide be preserved for further investigation.

11:32 a.m. To Spangler Rd. for a report of breaking and entering. A man reported that someone broke into his storage unit and stole a large number of tools. The manager stated that several other storage units had their lock hasps cut and that he has made contact with the owners.

11:36 a.m. To Drake Ave. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she had purchased a vehicle in February, but it broke down in the seller’s driveway. She said she asked if she could leave it there and the seller said that it was OK. The seller stated that he had sold the vehicle to the woman’s boyfriend, but that he had not paid the full amount. He said that he had contacted the boyfriend several times, and the boyfriend said that he could not come up with the rest of the money and that the seller could do whatever he had to do. He said that he had the car junked since the engine and radiator were blown. The woman was advised that the issue is between her and her boyfriend, and that this is a civil matter.

4:06 p.m. To Brookfield Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she had arrived to pick up her son and was told that she could not leave the state with him. The father showed the deputy a court order stating that the mother cannot leave the state with the child. He said that when he told her this, she became upset and threatened to bury him. She said that she would leave the child with the father since she has no residence in Ohio.

Friday 11/20

4:44 p.m. To Osborn Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone had entered his vehicle and took a radio, two drills and a laptop computer. There are no suspects.

5:04 p.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of a 6-year-old child locked out of his apartment. Temperatures were in the low 40’s. The juvenile stated that his aunt, who has custody of him, locked him out of the apartment and that she was sleeping. Deputies tried for an hour to get an answer at the door but were unsuccessful. Children’s Services was contacted and they advised to remove the child from the home and place him with his grandmother. While speaking with the grandmother, the aunt made contact and arrangements were made to meet her at her residence. She was then charged with one count of child endangering.

5:38 p.m. To Greenacres Dr. for a report of a domestic dispute. A woman reported that she had been staying with her parents to assist her father after his surgery. She said that her parents asked her sister to stay with their father for a while because she needed to leave for a while. She said that the sister arrived and was cursing and yelling. She said that she told her sister that their parents do not need to hear the yelling. She told her parents that they need to stop having the sister come by. She stated that while her father was in the hospital, the sister was escorted out by security because of her cursing and yelling. She was advised that a report would be filed, and to call if the sister caused more issues.

Saturday 11/21

3:44 p.m. A deputy found an abandoned vehicle in the 9400 block of New Carlisle Pike. The owner was contacted and advised that she would not be able to move the vehicle at this time. She was advised that it was a traffic hazard, and she agreed to have the vehicle towed. She was advised that Park Layne Sunoco had towed the vehicle.

Bethel Township

Friday 11/13

10:35 a.m. Drug offense at Bethel High School, 7490 S. State Rt. 201. School employee advised deputy that a student was in possession of marijuana while at school. The employee had smelled the odor of marijuana in the boy’s bathroom by the main office before calling 911. The student was identified and informed the employee that he had brought the marijuana on the bus and was willing to cooperate on who sold it to him. The juvenile’s guardian was contacted and advised of the situation. The juvenile was read his Miranda Custodial Warning and advised he was being charged with possession of marijuana.  At this point the juvenile was not willing to provide any further information nor provide a written statement.  Juvenile was released from school with a citation for possession.  Bethel High School also took actions on disciplining him.

Saturday 11/14

3:45 a.m. Traffic stop in the Palmer and Bellefontaine Road. Driver James R. Marriott (Cincinnati) was stopped for failure to signal a turn. When asked to produce his identification Marriott admitted he was suspended.  Marriott was issued a citation for failure to signal and driving under a non-compliance suspension.

Sunday 11/15

2:46 a.m. Traffic stop in the area of Staley Road and S. State Rt 201.  Driver Brandon J. Clearley (New Carlisle) was stopped for speeding.  While speaking with Clearley and passenger an odor of burnt marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.  Clearley stated there was nothing illegal in his vehicle and voluntarily agreed to a search.  During the vehicle search a grinder was located in the center console which contained a green plant material which smelled like raw marijuana. Clearley admitted the grinder did belong to him.  He was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and given a warning for his speed violation.  

Wednesday 11/18

00:05 a.m. Disturbance reported at the A and R Reck MHP, 4220 US Rt 40.  Gary Sorrells (Tipp City) admitted he was guilty of throwing a speaker into the back of a female’s head, had also bit and hit her. Sorrells was placed into custody, transported to Miami County Jail where he was incarcerated for domestic violence.  

Friday 11/20

5:02 p.m. Attempted burglary reported in the 7800 block of Staley Road.  An attempted break-in was reported and case is pending further investigation.
