Tuesday 3/14

10:44 a.m. To W. Washington St. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that someone had written derogatory remarks about her on her vehicle’s rear window with chalk. She wanted the incident documented in case there are further issues.

Wednesday 3/15

4:29 p.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of found property. A man reported that he found a license plate while he was riding his scooter. The RP was checked to make sure he was not a missing juvenile. The plate was turned into evidence.

7:51 p.m. To Styer Dr. to pick up a wanted suspect. The man had an outstanding warrant for receiving stolen property. HE was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Thursday 3/16

1:27 a.m. To McAdams Dr. for a report of a theft. The deputy was advised to watch for a tan Buick that was believed to be involved in the theft. While looking for the vehicle, the deputy was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in Park Layne. When the deputy arrived, he found that the couple involved in the domestic dispute were also the suspects in the theft. The woman said that she was at a bar with a male subject. She said that when they left, the bartender confronted them about their unpaid bar tab of over $82. When they left, they sideswiped another vehicle and left paint on the struck vehicle. The male half was cited for driving under suspension and failure to control. Warrants were requested. The woman said that she was unaware that the male half had not paid the tab and would go back to the bar when they opened and make it right.

5:16 p.m. To Fyffe Ave. A woman reported that a man in a tan SUV was following her juvenile son. She said that she knows the suspect and has a no-contact order against him through the courts. She said that she has not filed for a protection order. She said that the suspect was not in court at the time and has not been served with the order. The son said he was walking to Raynor Park with a friend when the suspect started following him. He said he started to run, and the suspect told him to “keep running.” She was advised that the incident would be documented, but charges would not be filed since there is no protection order. She was also advised to give a copy of the report to her attorney to give to the judge who issued the no-contact order.

8:35 p.m. To Drake Ave. for a report of criminal mischief. A woman reported that her video surveillance showed a known juvenile pick up something from the street and throw it at her house. Several pieces of broken glass were found on the porch, but there was no damage to the house. She did not wish to press charges.

Friday 3/17

7:24 p.m. While patrolling the area of Styer and Bellows, a deputy saw Richard Newport, who had outstanding felony warrants. The deputy contacted him and placed him in custody. The deputy then saw a bag of meth in the grass. It was raining and the bag was dry. Once other deputies arrived, Newport advised that two other suspects were in a nearby apartment and that both had outstanding warrants. All three were arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail.

8:58 p.m. To the 11000 block of W. National Rd. to pick up a wanted suspect. He had outstanding warrants for failure to appear, OVI and driving under suspension. He was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Saturday 3/18

5:31 p.m. While patrolling in the 800 block of W. Washington St., the deputy saw a man who she knew had outstanding warrants. The deputy spoke with the suspect, confirmed the warrants through dispatch and arrested the man. He was taken to the Clark County Jail. The warrants were for failure to appear for charges of violating a protection order, domestic violence and menacing.

Monday 3/20

1:19 p.m. To Dallas Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that he picked up a female friend because she was intoxicated, and allowed her to stay at his residence overnight. He said that when he woke up, she was gone, and so were several items from his home. He said that several weapons, his checkbook and his debit card were missing from his safe. He said that he has already notified his bank.

5:45 p.m. To S. Adams St. for a report of vandalism. A man reported that a friend’s 7-year-old daughter used a rock to carve scratches in four different vehicles at his residence. The girl admitted that she and her friend caused the damage, and the father said that he would pay for repairs. The RP agreed to this arrangement and did not wish to press charges.

6:30 p.m. To S. Main St. for a report of a theft. A store manager reported that a man left the store with merchandise without paying for the items. The deputy watched surveillance video of the suspect. The deputy recalled seeing the suspect earlier in the day walking up and down S. Smith St., then getting into a teal SUV.

Tuesday 3/21

8:10 a.m. To Lake Rd. for a report of a forgery. A man reported that he had written a check for $704 to a company and that the check was cashed. He said the company called and reported that they did not receive the check. He said that he got a copy of the check from his bank and found that the name of the company was removed and an individual’s name was inserted. The check appeared to have been cashed at a gas station in Dayton.

Wednesday 3/22

12:24 p.m. To N. Hampton Rd. A support organization employee reported that a client told her that a bus driver touched his upper leg when assisting him off of the bus yesterday morning. She had no information on the bus driver. She said that she is required to report any questionable activity.

Thursday 3/23

10:06 a.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of a theft in progress. A neighbor reported that she saw two white males in an older gray van back into the victim’s driveway and watched one of them drive the victim’s motorcycle away. The rider became nervous when he realized that he was being watched and crashed the motorcycle. The neighbor had already contacted the victim by phone and he was enroute. The neighbor said that the rider may have dropped a water bottle that was found nearby. It was collected to be submitted for analysis.

1:45 p.m. To Glenn Ave. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone broke into her vehicle and took her medication that was in the glove box. She said the vehicle was unlocked, but the glove box was locked. She said the suspect used a crowbar that was in the vehicle and damaged the glove box.

4:07 p.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that someone broke out the glass in her back door, entered her residence and took several items. While the deputy was gathering information, another deputy informed him that the woman had tried to steal her husband’s motorcycle from the garage. She said the suspects from that incident were in a gray van with a temporary tag from Indiana. The deputy found a gun safe in the basement that had pry marks and the combination lock dial had been damaged. He was unable to lift any fingerprints. The deputy asked the woman’s husband about the power tools strewn throughout the basement, and he said that they were taken from the garage in the previous incident. The deputy was then advised of an incident that had occurred at a nearby store. He went to the store and an employee said that the suspects came in looking for “a grinder that would cut through heavy metal.” Once they purchased the items, they left in a gray van with an Indiana temporary tag. The employee showed the deputy surveillance video of the suspects and he took a picture of them, returned to the victim’s home and was able to identify the suspects. The husband showed the deputy the suspect’s Facebook page and the picture on Facebook was of the same individual from the surveillance video.

Friday 3/24

6:43 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a theft. A store manager reported that two young white males entered the store, one of them wearing a backpack. He said he watched the boys put a 12-pack of beer in the backpack and zip it up. He said when he walked around the corner, the suspect without the backpack ran, and he grabbed the suspect with the backpack by the arm. He said he told the boy to have a seat until deputies arrived. He said that as he was calling the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect ran from the store and was last seen headed south on Main St. The deputy inspected the contents of the backpack and found the beer, several school papers, a planner from Tecumseh High School and several tardy slips with a student’s name on them. Dispatch was unable to locate any information for the name on the tardy sheets.

7:18 p.m. To W. Lake Ave. Deputies were advised that a wanted suspect was at the residence. The suspect was located, the warrants were confirmed and he was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Sunday 3/26

9:37 a.m. To Coachhill Ln. While on an assault call, the deputy was advised that the RP had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. She was ordered into court.

7:07 p.m. To W. Jefferson St. for a peace officer call. A woman advised that she was kicked out of her residence last Friday. She was allowed to retrieve her belongings, but was told that she had moved out. The woman said that all of her daughter’s clothes, a pack & play, bed linens and all of her shoes were missing. She said that another resident’s daughter is pregnant and believes that the other resident took them. Two other residents reported that everyone who enters the house has access to the basement, where her belongings were stores. She was advised that no charges would be filed since there was no proof that the resident stole the items.

Tuesday 3/28

2:37 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone had stolen batteries from vehicles. There are no suspects.

6:00 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A woman reported that sometime overnight, someone came onto her property and stole two chain saws. She said that the suspect forced entry to a storage shed to get the saws. She said that she found a wheelbarrow by the road. The wheelbarrow had been stored beside the shed. There are no suspects.

Bethel Township (Miami Co.)

Saturday 3/25

10:54 a.m. Theft not in progress reported in the 4000 block of Lisa Drive. RP reported batteries were missing from a semi-truck, a lock on the attached trailer was broken and doors were open. No suspects as the time of the report.

6:18 p.m. Traffic stop for no front license plate in the area of Sullivan Road and US Route 40. Contact was made with driver, Sebastian Gelvin, and reason for stop explained. Gelvin was asked for his driver’s license and proof of insurance. A check through LEADS showed that Gelvin’s driving status was under a child support suspension. Gelvin was issued a citation for driving under suspension and no front plate. The passenger had a valid license and was permitted to drive the vehicle from the scene.

6:36 p.m. Report of shots fired in the 8100 block of New Carlisle Road. RP and family were outside in the driveway playing and heard what he thought was his neighbor’s shooting guns. He heard a loud sound close to his driveway as if a bullet struck his grass. RP stated he didn’t want anybody to get into trouble, he just wanted to insure they were shooting safely. Deputy responded to the 5300 block of Westland Drive and spoke with a male. The male admitted he and his son were shooting 9mm handguns in the backyard. Walking to the back yard the male showed the deputy they were shooting at a pile of logs. He was informed that was not considered a safe back stop and was warned to set up a safe area to shoot. If not, he could be charged if he continued to shoot at the logs. Male stated he understood and would go to a range to shoot in the future.

Monday 3/27

10:20 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 7400 block of S. State Route 202. Deputies responded and made contact with a male and female. Both said the argument was verbal only and there was nothing physical.

Tuesday 3/28

6:59 a.m. Traffic accident with no injury in the area of Scarff Road and E. State Route 571.

Thursday 3/30

5:50 p.m. Accident without injury in the 6600 block of Agenbroad Road.
