Sun 11/20

8:55 p.m. To the area of Main and Jefferson for a report of a slight odor of marijuana in the area. The deputy saw a man come out of a nearby residence and get into his vehicle. The man turned north on Church Street and crossed the center line twice. She initiated a traffic stop in the Speedway lot. The driver said he had a valid license but did not have it with him. He advised that he had two beers tonight. He was asked to step out of his vehicle, and the deputy could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him and his eyes were red and glassy. Dispatch advised that the driver had an expired license. The driver said he did not know it was expired and thought it expired next year. He said he crossed the center line because he thought parked vehicles seemed very close and did not want to hit them. He did not do well with field sobriety tests and was taken to the New Carlisle substation for a urine test. He was cited for OVI, expired license and marked lanes.

10:50 p.m. To W. National Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her boyfriend was upstairs in bed. She said an argument started over his looking at porn on his phone and not giving her the attention she needs. She said she is pregnant with their fifth child and he thinks she is fat, crazy and ugly. The couple agreed to stay separated for the evening.

11:37 p.m. To Gerlaugh Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. The deputy arrived to find a woman walking in his direction with a man following her. The woman said that her boyfriend would not leave her alone. She said that they had been arguing and that she wanted to go to sleep, but he kept pressing the issue. She said he was intoxicated and she asked him to calm down so they could talk in the morning, but he wouldn’t stop. The man said he wanted to talk to her but she wanted to go to sleep. He said he works hard and when he comes home he wanted attention but she was not giving it to him. The man’s mother came to pick him up so they could be separated for the night.

Mon 11/21

1:13 p.m. To Clay St. for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that she began receiving numerous texts from her ex-boyfriend. She said she told him that he was going to call the police, but he continued. She said that he was following her today, but did not follow her home. She did not wish to press charges, but wanted the incident documented.

6:50 p.m. A woman came to the New Carlisle substation for a peace officer call. She said she is the guardian of her brother. She said she knows he is using drugs and is concerned for his well-being. She said that he has people living with him who are stealing from him and taking advantage of him and wanted him out of that house. She was advised that if he was not a threat to himself or to others, the deputy could not force him to leave his residence. The deputy went to the brother’s home and the brother said he had two people living with him who paid him rent. The woman told her brother that she wanted him to stay with her, but he refused to go. She asked that the incident be documented.

7:52 p.m. To Adams St. for a report of a domestic dispute. A man reported that his son was being persistent in trying to get his mother’s attention. He said the son followed her around the house. He said she told him to leave her alone, and he kicked the smaller children’s toys around then went outside and broke the screen out of the door. He said the son then went into his room. He said he followed the son to his room to get his phone. The son refused to give up his phone and pushed his father out of the doorway. He did not wish to press charges.

8:21 p.m. Traffic stop on the Woodbury Rd. apartments parking lot. The vehicle was driving erratically and sideswiped another as it pulled into a parking space. The driver exited the vehicle and began running. Other deputies soon arrived to help find the driver but were unsuccessful. They went back to the vehicle to try to find evidence of the driver’s identity. A resident came out and said that the possible suspect had asked him to let the suspect hide in the resident’s apartment. He said that when he refused, the suspect fled out the back door. The suspect was captured further down Woodbury Rd. He was patted down and deputies found money and a small baggie of heroin. Deputies asked why he ran, and the suspect said “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” A search of the vehicle yielded another baggie containing heroin, marijuana and meth. The subject, Michael Downing, age 42, of Dayton, was taken to the Clark County Jail and charged with tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, two counts of possession of drugs, two counts of trafficking in drugs, failure to comply with a police officer, possession of marijuana, driving under suspension and fictitious plates.

8:46 p.m. To Rosewood Rd. for a report of indecent exposure. A man reported that he came out of his home to find a vehicle in his driveway. He said the driver, with whom he is familiar, backed out of the driveway, exited his vehicle and dropped his pants. He then grabbed himself and made a lewd comment to the man’s girlfriend. He said the two began to argue for a bit, then the driver left. A warrant was requested against the driver for two counts of public indecency.

9:24 p.m. To Villa Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that his father had recently passed away and that he was executor of the estate. He said he was going through his father’s belongings and found several items missing. He said that his nephew was living with his father, and that no one has heard from him since the father passed. He believes the nephew stole the items to support his drug habit. Two firearms were among the items missing, and they were entered into the system as stolen.

10:00 p.m. To N. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone pried a lock off of a storage building and stole several items. There are no suspects.

11:27 p.m. To E. Jefferson St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that when she came home from work, her father because upset because she did not answer his phone call. She said she told him she was driving at the time and did not want to be distracted. She said he began to argue with her, she asked him to back away and he said that he didn’t have to. She said he then struck her in the face and he told her to get out of the house. The father said he did not strike her and that he lets her use his vehicle to get to and from work. He said when she came home, he asked her to put some wood on the stove and she became argumentative and began to yell. He said he told her to give him her keys and get out of the house if she can’t be respectful. He said she then threatened to slash his tires and threw the keys across the room. Both parties agreed to stay separated for the night.

Tues 11/22

12:07 p.m. To Funston Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her father punched her in the mouth. The father said that the two were arguing over putting away groceries when his daughter got into his face and slapped him on the cheek. He said he punched her in self-defense. The woman admitted to getting into her father’s face, but said he spit on her before she slapped him. The father did not wish to press charges and the daughter, who was determined to be the primary aggressor, left with her step-mother.

3:14 p.m. To N. Clay St. A woman reported that she saw that her vehicle had a flat tire. She said that she drove to Speedway to fill it up and saw that it had been slashed. She said as she was leaving Speedway, her ex-boyfriend drove past and pointed at her and laughed. She said he then acted like he was going to strike her but turned away at the last second. She believes that he slashed her tire, but has no proof. She said that he has been calling and texting her non-stop, even after she has asked numerous times for him to stop. She was provided information on obtaining a protection order. The boyfriend was contacted and advised that if he contacts the woman again, he could be charged.

10:02 p.m. To Spence Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he and his wife were involved in an argument, and as the argument got louder, their daughter got worried that it would become physical and called 911. The wife said they were arguing over money problems and that the argument never turned physical. Both parties had cooled down when the deputy arrived and said that there would be no more problems tonight.

Wed 11/23

5:06 a.m. To the Bethel Twp. Fire Station for a report of an overdose. Fire personnel reported that a man was dropped off at their bay door by a man in a pickup truck. The driver said he found the subject, then left in an unknown direction. Medics gave the subject one dose of Narcan which brought him back to consciousness. The subject said he doesn’t know what happened. He was transported to Huber Heights for evaluation.

11:10 p.m. To White Pine St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that his girlfriend got mad at him. He said that she was drinking and she becomes confrontational when she drinks. He said that she yelled at him, then spit at him and threw Christmas ornaments at him. He said she told him that she would have her husband, who is in prison, get in touch with some people and have him killed. He said he left and went to his vehicle and she threatened to throw a brick at it. He wanted to press charges. Deputies tried to speak to the girlfriend but she refused to open the door. The deputy checked with his Sergeant, and was advised that he may have to kick in the door. The deputy again tried to talk to the girlfriend and she said that her attorney advised her not to open the door. She said that she was not going to jail tonight and that there was no reason for the deputy to come into her home. She was advised that if she didn’t open the door, the deputies would enter by force. She finally opened the door and was advised that she was being charged with domestic violence and assault. She became very emotional and started to call people on her phone again. She was then led to the cruiser and said that she felt like she was going to pass out. Once she was in the cruiser, she said she felt like she was going to get sick, that she felt like she was going to have a seizure and said that her chest was hurting. New Carlisle Medics were called and was transported to the hospital. She refused blood tests at the hospital and was discharged. She was then taken to the Clark County Jail and was booked in on one count of domestic violence and one count of assault. The deputy returned to service after nearly four hours on this call.

Thurs 11/24

7:03 p.m. To Daleridge Rd. for a report of menacing. The reportees said that a man was threatening them with a baseball bat, then left toward Rt. 235. The man was located at the Park Layne Speedway where he was harassing customers. The deputies pulled up to him and he threw his hands in the air, stepped away from his baseball bat and bicycle and said “They are lying.” He then began to mouth off to another customer with no provocation. He was then detained for safety reasons. They returned to Daleridge Rd. and the reportees all signed statements. The deputy also got a statement from a Speedway employee, who wanted the man trespassed from the business. He was found to have a homemade marijuana pipe and a small bag of marijuana. He was advised that he was under arrest and became irate. He made statements that he wanted to kill the deputy and that he wanted the deputy to shoot him in the face. He was taken to the Clark County jail where he continued to be disrespectful. He was charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bicycle, baseball bat and drug paraphernalia were submitted into property.

11:59 p.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that when she returned to her home she saw her refrigerator door open and the oven window shattered. She then saw that her daughter’s medical supplies were scattered across the couch and her TV was gone. There are no suspects.

Fri 11/25

4:18 a.m. A woman called to report that she left her purse at a friend’s home on N. Main St. and had been trying to get it back. She said that she finally was able to contact the friend and he agreed to return the purse but never did. Deputies went to the home and got the purse. There was $172 in cash, bank cards and medication missing. She did not wish to press charges at this time.

6:41 p.m. Traffic stop on Rt. 40 at Quick Rd. The driver exited the vehicle and was told to approach the deputy. He did so. The door to his vehicle was still open and the deputy could smell fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. Two open cans of beer were found under the driver seat. The deputy also saw a green pill bottle with no sticker on it. There was also a small bag of marijuana and meth. The driver had a pipe in his pocket and said he uses it to smoke meth. He was taken to the Clark County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamines, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension. The vehicle was towed.

7:04 p.m. To Lincoln Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she was arguing with her husband and that he threw Christmas ornaments at her but that they did not strike her. She said that she wanted a divorce and has tried to have him evicted. The husband was found behind the home and was advised that he could be arrested for his actions. He said that he had thrown down ornaments that his wife wanted to throw away and was accused of cheating on her. The wife was uncooperative, so no charges were filed. Both agreed to stay separated for the night.

10:05 p.m. To Portland Ave. for a report of an unwanted guest. A man reported that his ex-roommate came to retrieve a dog that was mutual property. He said she became irate, punched a hole in a wall and took the dog. The woman’s father called the RP to apologize for her behavior, offered to return the dog and wanted an estimate for the damage to the wall. The man said he did not wish to press charges but wanted the woman trespassed from his property. The deputy spoke with the woman who said that they were once dating but no longer have a relationship. She said she expressed some feelings about his new girlfriend. She was advised not to return to his home.

Saturday 11/26

4:30 p.m. To Troy Rd. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that she was checking on a friend’s home who was out of town. She said that she found a back sliding door halfway open. She said she went through the rest of the residence and saw a drawer of a jewelry box open. She said that she contacted the owner who advised that the jewelry belonged to her mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. The deputy saw other valuable items that the suspects had to have walked by to get to the jewelry box. Fingerprints were lifted from the glass door.

5:14 p.m. To Drake Ave. for a neighbor complaint. A man reported that last night he could hear a lot of noise coming from a neighbor’s home. He said that he has had issues with them in the past and has set up cameras. He said he reviewed the footage and saw the neighbor outside with no pants on. He was seen walking to the property line, grabbing his genitals and walking back to his home. He said he was concerned because he has a 15-year-old daughter and is worried that this might happen when she is present. The neighbor said that he does not remember the incident. He said he had been drinking all night and his friend advised him that he went outside with no pants on. The prosecutor’s office was contacted, and they advised that they would not support public indecency charges because no one was present at the time of the offense.

6:00 p.m. To Tulip Rd. for a report of harassment. A man reported that his daughter was visiting her mother when three other juvenile girls tried to pick a fight with her. He asked that the incident be documented in case there are problems in the future.
