Sunday 8/14

1:15 a.m. To N. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she and her boyfriend were in an argument because he is a recovering alcoholic and had been drinking all night. She said that when he came home, she confronted him about it and he became angry and slapped the back of her head. The boyfriend said that they were in an argument over their business. He said that he was going to bed and that there would be no further problems.

12:02 p.m. To Weinland St. A man said he checked on property that he owns on Weinland St. and found that someone had driven on the yard. He said that his son-in-law was just evicted from the property and he believes that the son-in-law may be involved. He also said that the residence had recently been broken into and he suspects his son-in-law was involved in that, too.

6:31 p.m. To Frayne Dr. for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that she received a text from an unfamiliar number. She said that the texts were inquiring about drugs being sold or her having any for trade. She asked that the incident be documented.

6:29 p.m. To Bayberry Dr. for a report of a custody dispute. A woman reported that her grandson and his girlfriend signed court papers giving her custody of their 1-year-old daughter. She said that it was to be finalized on August 24. She said that they called wanting to pick up their daughter and asked what she should do. She was advised that her paperwork was a notice of a hearing, and did not give her custody. She and other family members expressed concern because the grandson does heroin and cocaine and they always have drugs and drug paraphernalia within reach of children.

8:43 p.m. To W. Lake Ave. A woman said that she has been separated from her husband for over a year. She said that he sent her a text stating that he was coming to pick up the truck that is in his name. She said she wanted to know her legal rights. She was advised that she could not be forced to give him the truck since they are legally married, nor could deputies stop him from taking the truck. The husband was contacted and advised that both parties have equal rights to the truck. She requested information on obtaining a protection order.

8:47 p.m. To Stratmore St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that while he was on vacation, some of his property was removed from his residence. He said that he let his son stay at his residence while he was on vacation, and that his son has stolen from him before. Missing were a TV, Playstation with games and controllers and several antique firearms.

Monday 8/15

10:25 a.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she entrusted her niece to watch their home Saturday and Sunday. She said that when they returned home, they found a backpack containing alcoholic beverages and a baggie with green vegetable matter. She said that the home smelled like someone had been smoking in it. She also discovered that her daughter’s new iPad had been taken as well. She said she confronted her daughter and found that she had invited an unknown male friend over and he brought other males with him. She said her daughter checked to make sure none of the males took anything with them.

11:25 a.m. To McAdams Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that sometime over the weekend, someone stole a vehicle parked next to the building. He said that there are surveillance cameras, but the theft was not captured on video.

4:00 p.m. A Quick Rd. resident reported that a woman has been sending him emails threatening to tell his wife that he had driven her home and hooked up with her, and that he should send her $2000. He said that he does not know the woman, and can only identify her by her first name. The RP later called back and said that he was going to contact the woman and tell her that he has already told his wife and for her to cease contacting him.

6:44 p.m. To Spinning Dr. for a possible drug overdose. The victim had a pulse and was able to answer the deputy’s questions. She was going to administer Narcan, but found that both vials were cracked. New Carlisle Medics arrived on the scene and determined that Narcan would not be necessary since the victim had become alert and responsive.

Tuesday 8/16

12:47 a.m. To Lakeshore Dr. for a report of shots fired. A woman reported that she heard six “pops” that sounded like gunfire. She said after the shots, she heard a vehicle with a really loud exhaust. A neighbor reported hearing the same thing. The area was searched for gunfire damage, but none was found. There is a possibility that the vehicle in question could have backfired.

1:37 p.m. To Spangler Rd. for a report of an accident. A vehicle was northbound on Spangler Rd. when a tree fell on it causing damage.

8:30 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of menacing. A woman reported that a female friend who had stayed with her for about a month has been stalking her underage daughters. She said that the woman has threatened the girls, hacked their Facebook accounts and has been to the house several times. She said that deputies had been out previously because the woman came to the home and refused to leave. She was given information on obtaining a protection order.

9:33 p.m. To Quail Ridge Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that they have contracted with a home care company and a new worker arrived yesterday. He said that after she left, five of his wife’s rings were missing.

9:42 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that her son’s ex-girlfriend sent her 40 text messages and came to the residence and was shining a light in the windows. She contacted the woman in the deputy’s presence and trespassed her from her property.

Wednesday 8/17

12:02 a.m. To Lost Rd. for a report of a vehicle in a field. The deputy arrived to find a Dodge Challenger in a soybean field about 70’ from the road. The driver apparently had fled the scene with the keys. Deputies were unable to contact the owner of the Challenger. It was towed.

11:22 a.m. To Hemlock Way for a report of a theft. A man reported that he was missing more than 30 Xanax pills. He said that the only other person in the home was his wife. The wife said that no one has been in the home, but that her husband has misplaced things before.

11:38 a.m. To Fair Ave. for a report of found property. A woman reported finding a Texas ID card and a SuperAmerica Rewards Card next to a tree in her front yard. A check on the owner revealed that he is a known gang member from Texas.

3:45 p.m. To Zimmerman St. A woman reported that her son came to her home to bring money he owed her, but did not bring all of it. She said that she asked when she would get all of it and he left slamming the door and damaging it. She said she would like to press charges. A warrant will be issued against the son for criminal damaging.

5:20 p.m. A Spence Rd. resident called to report an online scam. He said he tried to access the internet from his computer on Monday and was only able to reach a page that said he needed to contact accesstechconnectllc.com because he had a virus. He said he contacted them and they said he needed to send a check for $1441.34 to have the problem fixed. He said he provided his bank information. He said the representative would send FedEx to pick up the check, and it was picked up around 2:01 p.m. He said he then realized that it might be a scam, so he closed that account and opened another. He said that as of today, nothing had been taken. He was provided information from the Attorney General’s website regarding online scams.

6:23 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of a burglary. A man reported that a neighbor told him that a female friend was in his driveway. He said when he arrived home, he found his laptop computer was missing. He said he then texted the woman who asked him not to call police and that he was only trying to get her in trouble. The neighbor said she saw the woman in his driveway but did not see her enter the home.

6:58 p.m. To S. Tecumseh Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he was arguing with his brother, and during the argument he pushed his brother. The brother said that during the argument he was pushed and punched. He said that when he was calling deputies, the man broke the window of his vehicle. The man was arrested for domestic violence, assault and criminal damaging.

Thursday 8/18

3:20 a.m. A deputy saw a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Lake Ave. It was tagged to be removed by August 14 at 3:00 p.m. The registered owner was contacted and he said he didn’t want the vehicle any more. He said it could be towed and the tow company could keep it. The vehicle was towed.

7:18 a.m. To Milton-Carlisle Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle overnight and took his wallet and some loose change. He said he found his wallet in the driveway with the money missing. He said his credit cards and “high-dollar” tools were not touched.

8:52 a.m. To Milton-Carlisle Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone had gone through her unlocked vehicle overnight while it was parked in her driveway. She said about $15 and an iPod are missing.

9:35 a.m. A N. Hampton Rd. resident called to report that she saw someone throw two kittens on the side of the road. She said that the vehicle was a green Ford Ranger with an American Flag decal on the rear window. The deputy spoke with the Humane Society and learned that charges of abandoning animals would apply if the animal was released by the person who owned it. If the person was releasing feral cats, charges would not apply. The registered owner was contacted, and he said he had no idea who would have had his vehicle. He said he just leaves the keys in it so whoever wants to drive it can take it. He said he is allergic to cats, so he doesn’t mess with them.

Friday 8/19

2:43 p.m. To W. Washington St. for two 911 hangups. Two men sitting outside said nothing was going on. A woman blocked the doorway so the deputies could not see inside. She also said nothing was happening. Two other occupants said that nothing was happening. She would not allow the deputy in the house.

7:09 a.m. To Milton-Carlisle Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone entered his vehicle and stole several items. He called back later and said that some of the items were recovered from a neighbor’s yard.

11:00 a.m. To Milton-Carlisle Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that sometime overnight someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took several items.

4:26 p.m. A man came to the New Carlisle substation to report threats his son has made toward him. He said that his son is on drugs and is acting very temperamental. He said that his son has made several comments that he wanted his father dead. He said that he fears for his life and has told the son several times to leave the residence, but he refuses to do so. The deputy went to the man’s home and arrested the son for domestic violence and aggravated menacing. The son said that just because he wished his father were dead does not mean that he wants to kill him.

5:52 p.m. To Weinland St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man and a woman reported that they had been arguing on raising their infant son. The child’s grandmother expressed concern that the woman is unemployed, doesn’t have a license and possibly smokes marijuana. The woman said she is having difficulties in the way she is raising her son and that her views differ from the father’s. Both were advised of the options they have and to participate in activities to better the relationship.

7:37 p.m. To N. Church St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone stole a trailer from his driveway. Neighbors said they saw a silver truck cruising the area, but were not sure if it was involved.

Saturday 8/20

4:30 a.m. To the 200 block of Rawson Dr. for a report of an accident. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle and left the scene.

11:19 a.m. Traffic stop on S. Church St. A search of the vehicle yielded nine unused syringes, two used syringes and one clear capsule. The driver said they belonged to a girl who was with them yesterday. The items were submitted to property to be destroyed.

1:42 p.m. To Galewood Dr. for a custody dispute. A woman reported that yesterday she took her 8-year-old son to her father’s home for the night. She said that when she went to pick him up, her father and step-mother refused to return the child to them. The boy had told his grandfather that his mother’s boyfriend hit him several times and that he is now suffering from headaches. The grandfather was very angry and made several threats in front of deputies that he would take care of the boyfriend himself. He was strongly advised not to take matters into his own hands. The grandfather said that deputies weren’t doing anything and that he would do what it takes to protect his grandson. The boy said that his mother and her boyfriend were arguing and the boyfriend hit him hard in the back of the head. The grandfather was advised that he could not keep the boy without a court order, and he was upset over this. The boy was returned to his mother and a copy of the report was forwarded to Children’s Services.

2:35 p.m. A Fyffe Ave. resident called with questions about his estranged wife. He said that while they were living together, she would walk around naked and take showers with the kids who are now 6 and 10. He said he did not approve of the behavior and she stopped it. He said now that he has moved out, she has begun the practice of taking showers together, and wanted to know what he could do about it. He was advised that this behavior does not violate any laws. He was upset and became a little belligerent. He was then advised that he could call Children’s Services with a complaint.

6:27 p.m. To Carlotta St. Before saying a word to the RP, he said “Why aren’t there any of you guys down there,” referring to a home on Aspen Rd. The deputy pointed in that direction and said “See the two deputies down there?” The RP then said he has been witnessing individuals going up and down the road on 4-wheelers and motorcycles in a reckless fashion. He said it goes on at all hours. He reported that today he yelled at a driver of a 3-wheeled motorcycle and a verbal confrontation ensued, followed by the driver trying to strike the RP. He said he walked down to the residence on Aspen and had a 2x4 for self-protection. He said a male individual ran over to him and said “Old man you’re about to get it.” He said he eventually walked away. He was advised that deputies need to view traffic offenses or see a video of the offense before they can do anything. The RP became irate and said he would take matters into his own hands.

9:58 p.m. To Stratmore St. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend walked into her home and into her bedroom. She said he got in because she left her key in the front door. At first she said she wanted him trespassed, but then changed her mind and wanted to have him charged. She again changed her mind and did not want to press charges and went on a rant about how she could have been killed with a “slow” response time of 13 minutes.

Friday 8/19

12:31 Burglary not in progress in the 6300 block of Studebaker Road. RP advised that sometime over the past several weeks items had been taken from the residence. Case pending.

6:07 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of N. Second St and US Route 40. Vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation. At the conclusion of the investigation, the driver was issued a citation for driving under suspension and front license plate required.

Saturday 8/20

3:54 p.m. Accident in the 8100 block of Palmer Road. Deputy responded to a two vehicle accident and contact was made with all parties. It was clear from the damage and verbal statements made by both drivers that Unit 1 had rear ended Unit 2. After collecting all involved identifications and taking photos it was discovered that driver of Unit 1, Miguel Gonzalez, was under suspension. Gonzalez was issued a citation for driver’s license suspension, speeding violation and assured clear distance ahead.

Sunday 8/21

1:08 p.m. Fatal accident in the area of Cobaugh and Mann Road. A passerby reported the accident on Cobaugh Road east of the intersection with Mann Road. The accident involved a single vehicle running off the roadway and striking a tree. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Wednesday 8/24

6:40 a.m. Domestic dispute in the 8100 block of S. State Route 202. Husband and wife and been in an argument that morning. Wife stated husband had not be physical toward her only with property in the house. Deputy did not see any marks on the wife to indicate the husband had harmed her. He did observed items on the floor in the house that looked to be consistent with the wife’s story.

4:05 p.m. Theft not in progress in the 6500 block of S. State Route 202. Deputy responded to a business that had the drain spouts removed from the residence, business and an outbuilding. There is a suspect in this theft.
