Sunday 6/19

4:08 a.m. To Slayton St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her boyfriend and her mother were arguing. There is a history of domestic violence between the two. When deputies arrived, she advised that both parties had been separated and had calmed down. Both the boyfriend and the mother said that they had been drinking, and that is the only time they argue. No one wished to file charges and there was no sign of a physical fight. The mother agreed to leave for the evening so that there would be no further issues.

4:20 a.m. To White Pine St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that his girlfriend and mother of his children had been drinking and became upset and started threatening him. He said she threatened to stab him if he didn’t leave the residence. He said that he feared that she might actually harm him and wanted to press charges. The girlfriend said that she had not been drinking and had not threatened to stab him. Both parties had recorded some of the incidents, and after reviewing the recordings, the girlfriend was arrested for Domestic Violence and Aggravated Menacing. Deputies heard her on one recording say “get out or I will stab you.” She was allowed to get her medication before being cuffed and led to the deputy’s cruiser. Once outside, she said that she had heart problems and felt like she was going to faint. She fell up against the cruiser and then to the ground. Medics were called and refused treatment. She was then transported to the Clark County Jail.

3:35 p.m. To Lambers Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she purchased a phone for her grandson to use. She said that the grandson reported visiting friends on Coach Hill Dr. and left his phone there. She said that when he went to get it, the friends said they no longer had it. She said she contacted the provider who reported that the phone had been used for internet. The phone was entered into the system as stolen.

7:54 p.m. To Alpha Rd. for a report of a custody dispute. A woman reported that her ex-husband failed to return their children from visitation. She said that he had his court-ordered visitation this weekend and was to return them by 4:00 p.m., but has failed to do so. She said she called to ask where the children were, and he gave the phone to their daughter who said they were on their way home from Indiana. She said that he did not ask if he could take them out of state and she did not know where they were. She said that when she took the kids to Kentucky, she had to get court permission to take them out of the state. At 9:16, she called back and stated that the children had been returned home.

8:36 p.m. To Coach Hill Dr. for a report of a burglary. A man explained that two young males entered his home, went into his son’s room and broke the TV and game console. After searching the home, he found that his phone was the only thing stolen. He said that a neighbor reported seeing the two males and they were bragging about breaking items in his home.

Monday 6/20

12:01 a.m. To Mill Rd. for a report of a hit-skip accident. The city garage had been struck and a guy wire to a utility pole had been broken. There were tire tracks indicating that a vehicle had turned around and driven east. The deputy followed the trail to Brubaker apartments and saw a vehicle with damage that was consistent with the damage found at the scene. The owner was contacted and said that he would find out what happened. A woman called soon after and said that she was west on Mill Rd. when she looked for a CD. She said she left the roadway and struck the guy wire and the building. She said the air bags deployed and she injured her thumb. She said she then left and drove to the apartments because she does not have a license. She was charged with failure to control.

8:35 a.m. To Caldwell Circle. A woman reported that her husband wanted to leave in the family vehicle while intoxicated. She said that an argument ensued, and she removed the plates and hid the keys. The husband was found acting as if he were asleep in the bedroom. His mother soon arrived and took him to her home.

4:02 p.m. To Caldwell Circle for a peace officer call. A man said he and his wife are separated. He said he came to pick up his vehicle and found that she had removed the plates and hid the keys. She said that her husband has taken everything they had, and she is not going to allow him to take the vehicle, since that is her only mode of transportation for her and her children. The husband was advised of what she said and was advised to contact his attorney. He then walked to his mother’s home.

Tuesday 6/28

1:50 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A man reported that a golf cart was stolen from the fenced lot of a storage facility. The owner of the facility said that about a week ago, she was approached by an insurance fraud investigator looking for a Winnebago. He said that the owner had reported it missing. She said she allowed the investigator into the facility. She said she opened the Winnebago owner’s compartment and saw the camper and a golf cart. She said she didn’t think anything of it at the time until today when it was reported stolen. She said she went back to the same compartment and the golf cart was gone.

3:15 p.m. To Rawson Dr. for a report of an assault. A man said that his son was assaulted by a friend earlier today. He said the friend came to his home, and his son asked the boy to leave because they don’t get along. He said that when the friend refused to leave, the two boys began to argue and the friend punched his son in the eye. The friend’s mother said her son admitted to hitting the boy, but that the boy threatened him first. Both boys have a history of playing rough. No one wished to press charges and both parents said that they would keep the boys separated for a few days.

4:05 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a theft. A store employee stated that a man entered the store and was walking around. She said she saw a can of Red Bull fall out of his pocket. She said he picked up the can and left. She reported that she followed him and asked if he was going to pay for them, and he replied, “pay for what?” A witness in the parking lot identified the suspect. He told deputies that the man ran out of the store, came to him and asked if he was thirsty, then threw two cans of Red Bull under his vehicle. The deputy saw the cans on the ground. The employee said that the store manager would be able to provide a copy of surveillance video. Deputies patrolled the area but did not find the suspect. A warrant was issued charging him with one count of theft.

4:30 p.m. To Island Rd. for a report of found items. A man reported that he found two bicycles that were stolen from his yard and recovered them. He said that a neighbor identified the suspect who took the bicycles and provided his address. He then went to that address, found his bicycles and put them in his vehicle. He said that two juveniles at that location were very aggressive toward him when he picked up the bikes. He asked that the incident be documented in case the juveniles retaliate.

Wednesday 6/29

3:41 a.m. To Lambers Dr. A woman called requesting information on evicting someone, stated that a domestic disturbance occurred earlier, then hung up the phone. Deputies responded and found a man sitting in a yard on Cliffside Ave. He said that he was at the Lambers address and left for no reason. At the Lambers address, deputies had to knock several times before a woman came around the corner of the house. She said that it was her residence and that her daughter was the only one inside. She was advised that the deputies needed to ensure that everyone was OK. The daughter said that she and her boyfriend had been drinking and began to argue over alcohol and money. She said that it was only verbal. Deputies learned that the daughter had an active warrant from Hamilton County for Larceny. She was taken into custody. The boyfriend returned to the residence and gathered his clothing that was in the front yard.

8:20 a.m. To W. Jefferson St. A woman reported that her son broke into her home and was assaulting her. The son stated that her mother uses meth and is tweaking. He said he got into an argument with her the evening before but that he left before it became physical. He said he returned that night and slept on the couch. The mother refused to answer the door.

11:39 a.m. To Lakeshore Dr. for a report of criminal damaging. A man reported that his outside porch light had been spray painted with black paint. He is unsure of when it happened. He wanted the incident documented.

2:23 p.m. To White Pine St. for a report of theft. A woman reported that her credit card had been used without her permission. She said that there were two purchases made near Cleveland on 6/25. She said the last time she used it was on 6/20. She said she never gave anyone the card number and does not know anyone in the Cleveland area.

4:05 p.m. To W. Jefferson St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she was involved in an argument with her son, but that there were no threats or acts of violence. She said she wanted the son out of her home. She was given information on obtaining a protection order.

5:20 p.m. To N. Church St. for a report of menacing. A man reported that his stepson’s grandfather asked for more time with the child but was refused. He said that the grandfather became angry and threatened to “bust his teeth in.” He said he is more concerned about the grandfather’s threats to damage his vehicle. He said that he did not wish to press charges, but wanted the deputy to talk to the grandfather. The deputy did so, and the grandfather admitted to threating him, and advised that he was going to court over custody issues. He was advised not to contact the RP until that time.

5:21 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of possible menacing. A man reported that he was awarded guardianship of his three children and has been having problems with his ex-mother-in-law. He said that the children were removed from the mother’s home and placed with their grandmother until he was awarded guardianship. He said that the grandmother keeps texting him hoping to see the children. He said he will not allow her to see them because the mother is always on the scene. He said that the mother has left the state with the children before and fears that she may take them out of the country. He was advised of the procedure to obtain a protection order.

11:00 p.m. To Cambridge Ct. for a report of a crash. A driver struck a parked vehicle and damaged its side mirror, then left the scene.

Thursday 6/30

9:25 a.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of an unwanted guest. A woman reported that a male neighbor was banging on her door and threatening her. She said that the neighbor thought she was the one who called deputies on him last night, but she said that she wasn’t. She said she heard him threaten her with physical harm. She was given information on obtaining a protection order. The neighbor was advised to stay away from her.

10:35 a.m. To Villa Dr. for a report of theft. A woman reported that her daughter pays her bills with her credit card. She said her daughter called questioning some charges. She said she suspects her grandson had used the card without permission. The grandson said when he went off of his medicine, he got impulses and bought items from several stores. He admitted to using his grandmother’s card without her permission. He was arrested for misuse of credit card, and since the grandmother is 75 years old, the charge became a felony.

1:40 p.m. Traffic stop on Rt. 4 at Tecumseh Rd. The vehicle was clocked at 79 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. The deputy saw a pill cap on the armrest and a pill bottle in the cup holder. The driver said he did not have any identification. The passenger was asked about the pills, and said that they belonged to the driver. The driver said they belong to his girlfriend, but that he takes them for knee pain. There was also marijuana in the vehicle. The driver refused a chemical test for drugs. He never had a driver’s license and was cited for that. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on both charges.

4:46 p.m. To Church St. for a report of phone harassment. A man reported that he filed a report yesterday against his stepson’s grandfather and that the grandfather was advised not to contact him. He said that he was advised by his supervisor at work that the grandfather is calling his place of employment complaining about him. He said that the grandfather is claiming that he is stealing and scamming his employer. He said that his supervisor reported that the company’s corporate offices have received emails from the grandfather making the same accusations. He wished to press charges against the grandfather.

7:54 p.m. To McAdams Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she believes that she left her cell phone at a store. She said that they called the store and a clerk stated that they had a cell phone, but it did not match hers. She said the phone has an app that can be used to locate it, and it showed an address on Braun St. She said she went to that address and the residents said that they had not been to that store today, and don’t have her phone.

Friday 6/1

9:05 a.m. To Bellefontaine Rd. A man reported that someone threw a beer can out the window near the county line. He said the can appeared to have cut marks on it, and neighbors wanted Clark County notified because Miami County does nothing about the drug use in the area. The can was submitted to property in case Miami County wishes to pursue action. The driver is believed to live in Miami County and the can is believed to have been used to smoke meth.

1:19 p.m. To Orth Dr. for a report of menacing. A man reported that a male subject has been calling him and yelling at him for allowing the subjects ex-girlfriend to move in with him. He said that the subject threatened to kill him, but he has no witnesses to the threat. The subject said he has not called the RP and never threatened him. He said that he is glad his ex-girlfriend moved in with the RP because he doesn’t want her around. He said that they are making false reports to get him in trouble. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

5:26 p.m. To Mark Dr. for a report of a burglary. A man reported that when he returned home, he noticed his front door was unlocked. He said he then noticed that his TV, game console and a firearm were missing from his residence. There were no signs of forced entry. He suspects a friend who was at his home recently wanting to borrow money.

Saturday 7/2

7:43 a.m. To Rachel Ct. for a report of a dispute. A man reported that his wife showed up at their residence to pick up some belongings. He said that there is a no-contact order due to a recent domestic. He said he left when she arrived. He said that he wanted a deputy to go to his residence and let him know when she left so he could return. The deputy went to his residence on Brubaker Dr. and the wife said that they were still living together despite the no contact order. She said that they were in an argument this morning, but that there was no physical violence. The RP was notified of her statement, and he made arrangements to stay with a friend.

12:42 p.m. To Hillcrest Rd. for a report of an assault. The deputy arrived to find the victim being treated by Bethel Twp. EMS. He had been beaten and had severe injuries to his head. He said that he was hit from behind with a baseball hat at McDonald’s. The deputy recalled a call regarding a man who fell out of a truck at McDonald’s that morning. He said that he owes a lot of money for drugs, and that they are coming back with 800 of them. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for his injuries.

5:45 p.m. To N. Henry St. for a report of a suspicious person. A woman reported that she was approached by a male subject while she was mowing her lawn. She said that he wanted to come inside to charge his phone and use the restroom. She said he was from Kentucky and said he was here for “championships.” She said he was very persistent about coming inside. She said he was around 17, biracial with curly black hair, tall and slim. She asked that the incident be documented.

10:13 p.m. A woman approached a deputy and wanted to report her vehicle was stolen. She said that she allowed a friend to use her vehicle and gave instructions to return it promptly. She said that it is still missing after 24 hours. He issued an alert for the vehicle. Dayton Police reported that they had stopped the vehicle earlier and that the friend was a passenger. The vehicle was released because it had not been reported stolen.


Bethel (Miami) Twp. Sheriff Reports

Friday 7/1

00:24 a.m. Traffic stop for lane violation in the area of Palmer and Singer Roads. Jerry Gordon White was arrested for possession of drugs and issued a citation for OVI, no operator’s license, left of center and plates belonging to another vehicle.

2:23 p.m. Hit skip accident reported in the 4200 block of Ross Road.

4:09 p.m. Theft not in progress reported in the 5100 block of Westland Drive. RP had received a bill for $16.80 for a toll road in northern Texas. A photo was included and showed a car with his license plates. The plates had been on a truck that had been sold and the RP had forgotten to remove them. The plates were entered as stolen and the RP was advised to contact somebody regarding the toll bill.

Sunday 7/3

11:56 a.m. Civil dispute in the 7900 block of E. State Route 571, RP had concerns over a teenager being left at home alone for a few days. RP wanted the concerns documented.

5:23 p.m. Traffic stop in the area of US Route 40 and S. State Route 202. When deputy made contact with the driver, he was already on his cell phone asking for somebody to come and pick him up. The driver was not the registered owner and only had an ID card. Deputy detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver who admitted he probably should not be driving. He admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. He agreed to submit to a series of field sobriety tests. Several times through the testing the driver stated he was drunk and could not pass the tests; adding he should not have been driving. Once the testing was complete he agreed to take a breath test. Transported back to the MCSO a breath test was administered with a result of .166 BAC. Lucas Edward Schutte was cited for OVI, marked lanes and failure to reinstate his license.

Monday 7/4

1:48 p.m. Criminal damages at the Bethel Bee’s Baseball Frosty Brown Park, 8002 US Route 40. Dispatch advised deputy that a black BMW was doing donuts at the ball fields. Upon arrival the parking lot and grass were checked for any possible damages. Fresh ruts in the grass south of the parking were found. Deputy responded to the residence of the vehicle’s registered owner. The rightful owner thought his brother had been driving his vehicle. Checking the brother’s information through LEADS it was discovered that he had an active warrant out of Miami County for probation violation. As the deputy was preparing to leave the brother pulled in. Contact was made with him and he admitted he has been driving the BMW but denied doing donuts at the baseball field. Ruben G. Mireles was placed into custody for the warrant and transported to the Miami County Jail. On Tuesday contact was made with the Bethel Schools in reference to this case. The damages will be discussed with the Superintendent and decide if the school might wish to pursue charges.

Tuesday 7/5

12:51 p.m. Criminal mischief reported in the 8700 block of Bellefontaine Road. RP reported someone had removed one of his property posts and thrown it. The RP advised there was no damage to the post but wanted the incident documented due to on-going problems with neighbors.

Wednesday 7/6

1:00 a.m. Traffic stop for lane and stop sign violations in the area of US Route 40 and Palmer Road. Contact was made with driver Malissa R. Doak and the reason for the stop explained. When asked for her driver’s license, Doak handed over an Ohio ID card. She explained she was suspended for getting a DUI. Checking her driving status through LEADS, her statues showed as suspended because of an OVI. Doak was issued a citation for driving under and OVI suspension and stop sign/bar violation. She was provided a ride home and would have somebody retrieve her vehicle.

3:28 a.m. Suspicious person in the area of US Route 40 and S. State Route 201. Deputy was on routine patrol traveling south on State Route 202 when he noticed a pick-up truck make a wide turn in the intersection and then disappear behind a building and traveling west on US RT 40 from SR 202. The deputy turned around to locate this vehicle. He was able to locate the truck traveling east on SR 202. Catching up with the blue Chevy Silverado, dispatch informed the deputy that that vehicle was stolen out of Harrison Township in Montgomery County. Deputy requested Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Huber Heights Police Department be notified that the vehicle could travel into their jurisdiction. Deputy decided to not initiate a traffic stop until other officers were able to respond to the area. Continuing to follow the vehicle south on Brandt Pike to the area just north of I70 the driver pulled into a closed gas station. The driver, identified as Bart E. Knight, exited the vehicle and was instructed to show his hands. Knight was instructed to walk back to the deputy where he was placed in handcuffs and checked for weapons. Huber Heights Police responded to the scene and checked the vehicle for other passengers. Knight was placed in the back seat of the cruiser and read his Miranda Rights, He acknowledged his rights and agreed to speak with the deputy. He stated a friend who lived at the North Land Village Apartment Complex in Dayton allowed him to borrow the pick-up to move furniture. He also stated he had made a wrong turn off the interstate and had gotten lost. He was trying to find his way back to the interstate. He denied knowing the vehicle was stolen; adding he had an ignition key. When asked if there was anything illegal in the truck, he stated there were bolt cutters, screw driver and rope that belonged to his friend. A detective from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office advised that Knight is a known thief. The detective added that Knight lives behind the location where the truck had been stolen. The truck would be towed to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s impound lot and would be processed the following day. While photographing the truck the deputy noticed the tailgate had several large dents and the back bumper was dented and covered in dust. An exterior door handle was broken and most of the handle was missing from the driver’s site. Also noticed was the driver’s side mirror’s glass was missing. Located in the bed of the truck behind the driver’s seat was a pair of black/red bolt cutters, black/yellow screw driver and jumper cables. Located on the floor next to the driver’s seat was a pair of white closed, behind the center console was a large roll of blue climbing rope and a black flashlight. Before this truck was located three Miami County Sheriff deputies responded to the Buzz Thru on 25A in reference to the business being broken into. A witness informed dispatch a slim build male wearing a ball cap tried to break into the drive thru. The witness heard a crash and saw the suspect trying to break in through a window. A BOLO was issued for an older model dark colored pick-up truck with heavy front end damage (which was later changed to rear end damage) and missing a side mirror. Deputy contacted the other deputies on the Buzz Thru attempted theft and explained the damage done to the stolen truck. It was decided to contact Montgomery County and ask that the truck be towed to the Miami County impound lot for further investigation. Bart Knight transported to the Miami County Jail where he was booked for receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools. He was issued a citation for driving under a non-compliance suspension, failure to stop and a red light/stop bar violation. A Miami County detective asked Knight if he was willing to speak with the deputies and he stated yes. He was escorted to an interview room where he was again read his Miranda Rights, which he acknowledged and agreed to speak with the deputies. When asked about the drive thru Knight stated he wasn’t answering any of these questions and requested a lawyer. The interview was terminated and he was escorted back to the jail. The witness to the Buzz Thru breaking and entering provided a written statement.

Thursday 7/7

2:55 a.m. Traffic stop for excessive speed in the area of E. State Route 571 and S. State Route 201. Operator of the vehicle was identified a Michael Jenkins and reason for the stopped explained. Jenkins stated he was suspended and this was confirmed through LEADS. Jenkins was issued a citation and released to a valid operator.

Friday 7/8

1:29 a.m. Suspicious priority in the 6500 block of Studebaker Road. RP reported a male subject attempted to enter the residence through a window. RP advised the male took off running after he was spotted. Deputies responded and found a cut in a bedroom window screen. The area of searched but nobody was found.
