Sunday 6/12

2:16 p.m. To Carman Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her boyfriend was screaming at her and breaking things. She said that there was no physical violence. The deputy saw her clothing on the sidewalk. The boyfriend said that he had accused her of cheating on him because she was texting a man at 4:00 a.m. Both were advised that neither could be forced to leave the residence and to stay separated for the rest of the day.

4:36 p.m. To Milton-Carlisle Rd. for a menacing complaint. A woman reported that she received a text message from a woman stating that two men were going to burglarize their neighbor’s home. She said she believes that it is in retaliation for one of the men blaming her for taking the woman’s food stamp card. She was advised to call back if she can locate the text messages. The neighbors were advised of the situation.

6:59 p.m. To Bayberry Dr. A woman reported that she has issues with her grandson’s father. She said that he was sitting down the street from her home and she believes that he is trying to intimidate her. She said that he often talks about how many guns he has access to. She said that he has sent deputies out multiple times making false statements about how the child is being cared for. She said that he has visitation on Wednesdays and every other weekend and that she and her daughter have obeyed the order, but the father will not leave them alone. She was advised to document any incidents in the future and was given information on how to file for a protection order.

Monday 6/13

10:35 a.m. To Flora Ave. for a report of an accident. A driver was backing out of a driveway and struck another vehicle parked on the street. She was charged with improper backing.

11:26 a.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a forgery. A bank employee reported that a deceased customer had activity on her bank card. He provided statements and a DVD of transactions made by a relative of the customer. Attempts to reach the relative were unsuccessful.

5:14 p.m. To Dialton Rd. for a report of a burglary. A woman reported that she left her residence around 11:00 and returned around 1:00 to find her front door open. She said that she had locked the doors before she left but couldn’t find any evidence of forced entry. She said that several items were missing and would contact the sheriff’s office when a list was complete.

Tuesday 6/14

3:15 p.m. to S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that several items were missing from the business. He said that an employee quit coming to work when the theft was discovered. He said he has no proof, but strongly suspects the employee.

3:25 p.m. A Bischoff Rd. resident called to report that a campaign sign had been stolen from his yard. He said that this is the fifth sign that has been stolen and that the others have been reported.

6:54 p.m. To Troy Rd. for a report of a burglary. A man reported that he woke up, went outside and saw that his garage door was open. He said he went into the garage, looked in the center console of his vehicle and found that his Glock 30 .45 cal. handgun was missing. He said he checked the house in case his wife moved it, but did not find it. He said that there was no sign of forced entry, but that several family members know his garage door code. He suspects his step-daughter who is in treatment for heroin dependency and knew that the gun would be in the vehicle.

10:42 p.m. A woman called regarding concerns about her soon-to-be-ex-husband. She said that they are going through a divorce and she has a protection order against him. She said that she was driving on Rt. 571 toward New Carlisle when a truck resembling her husband’s turned from Rt. 40 onto Rt. 571 leaving only one car length between them. She said she could not see the driver, but was sure it was his truck. She said that since she did not see his face, the vehicle was a car length behind and the driver never tried to contact her, there was not enough evidence to charge him with violating the protection order.

Wednesday 6/15

11:13 a.m. Traffic stop on W. Lake at Gerald. While speaking with the driver, the deputy could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and told the driver about it. She produced a silver smoking pipe and a bag with a small amount of marijuana in it. She said that she had just fired up the pipe before the deputy pulled her over. She was ordered into court for expired tags, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. The vehicle remained parked and the driver walked to a friend’s home.

5:20 p.m. To N. Church St. for a report of a burglary. The property owner said he lives out of state and has a contractor doing work on the residence preparing it for sale. He said that the contractor called him to report that the back door appeared to be forced open. He said that there was no damage to the inside and nothing was missing. He said that the contractor had already repaired the damage to the door.

5:25 p.m. To Funston Ave. for a report of a possible scam. A woman reported that she returned a card to receive information on Medicare. She said that multiple subjects have called her cell phone from multiple phone numbers claiming to be from the company that sent the card. She said she did not give them her phone number. She was advised to change her number.

Thursday 6/16

10:00 a.m. While patrolling on Lower Valley Pike, the deputy saw a man lying face down on the street. The deputy was familiar with the man and it appeared that he had fallen off of his bicycle. Bethel Twp. EMS arrived and he was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

6:17 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. A store manager reported that a woman in a pink dress claimed she was kidnapped and fled south on Dayton-Lakeview. The deputy caught up with her and she said that she was kidnapped. The deputy went to the trunk of his cruiser to get a statement form and the woman screamed “What are you going to do, shoot me?” She then held her hands in the air and knelt down. The deputy advised her that he needed a statement so he could try to charge her alleged kidnapper. She said that the deputy needed to read her her Miranda rights and tell her what she was being charged with. Again, she was advised that she was not being charged with anything. She started to walk away and the deputy told her to return. He asked if she had done drugs and she said that she had been clean for “a long time.” She said she didn’t know the men who kidnapped her, but they left her at Speedway. She again threw her hands in the air and said “I am not a black person but right now I feel like one. Are you gonna shoot me?” Medics were called because of her strange behavior and they transported her to Grandview Hospital for her change in mental status. The RP said that he felt uncomfortable with the way the woman was inching her way toward the cash register and asked her to leave for that reason and because she was barefoot. Surveillance video showed that the woman was under her own free will.

8:32 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of indecent exposure. A woman reported that her juvenile daughter and her juvenile friend believed that they witnessed apartment residents engaged in romantic activity behind the apartments. The girls said they were picking berries off of trees when they witnessed the event. The woman said that this has happened several times and that the girls are the only ones who catch the residents. The deputy went to the neighbors’ apartment and the woman who answered the door appeared to be very intoxicated. She denied the event and showed where she goes out back to sit on separate chairs and talk to her boyfriend. Her boyfriend stated that the extent of their romantic activity out back was that she kissed him. They were advised that if an adult witnessed any improper activity and was able to articulate the events, they would be charged with indecent exposure and they could be placed on a sex offenders list.

9:30 p.m. To Hemlock Way for a report of a theft. A man reported that is daughter stole $60 from his pocket yesterday and he wanted her to go to jail. He was advised that she would not go to jail for a petty theft charge. He said that he did not see her take the money but he confronted her about it and she admitted to taking it. He said he wanted her out of his home and was advised that he would have to evict her. He was also advised to tell his daughter that if he didn’t get his money back, he would file charges.

10:26 p.m. To Fenwick Dr. A woman reported that her neighbor has been shooting off fireworks for the past few nights. She said that normally she wouldn’t care, but her brother was to have heart surgery the next day and her dog was getting ready to die. She said she talked with him about the fireworks and he just laughed at her and said that no one was going to do anything to him for shooting off fireworks. She said they argued and he asked her to get off of his property several times. The neighbor would not answer his door.

Friday 6/17

12:47 p.m. To Schiller Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone took the catalytic converter from his vehicle. He said that his grandson was in the garage when he left, and when he returned he found a mat on the floor and a drop light under the vehicle and the converter missing. He said his grandson is on meth and knows he took it. He wishes to press charges.

1:00 p.m. A Campbell Ave. woman called expressing concern about her aunt. She said that the aunt keeps calling Adult Protective Services because she takes care of the aunt’s father. The aunt has made statements to authorities that the woman is not caring for the man properly. She said that Adult Protective Services investigated the aunt’s claims and closed the case. She said that the aunt is now harassing her on the phone and making threats of bodily harm. Attempts to reach the aunt were unsuccessful. The woman was advised on how to take further action.

5:23 p.m. To Burket Dr. for a report of a male trying to lure juveniles into his vehicle. A man reported that several neighborhood children were going to Raynor Park. He said one of the children told him that a red car with a black stripe down the middle stopped and the driver asked if the juvenile wanted to come see his dog. The man said he saw the vehicle but did not hear the conversation. One of the juveniles said that she located the vehicle, but it was not the same as the one described.

8:05 p.m. A man called to report a denied child visit. He said that he has a court order granting him visitation with his child from 6:00 p.m. on Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday every other week. He said he went to pick up his child on Addison-Carlisle Rd. and his ex-wife said that he would not be receiving his visitation this week. He asked that the incident be documented.

Saturday 6/18

12:36 a.m. To Shawnee Park Pl. for a report of a possible underage party. As deputies arrived, they saw teenagers running in every direction and vehicles were driving through the yard trying to flee the area. One vehicle crashed into the ditch and was disabled. A subject on the 2nd story threw a beer bottle at the deputy’s cruiser. Other deputies, Ohio State Patrol and Enon Police also responded. Once the scene was less chaotic, they began gathering information from subjects that they were able to stop. They administered field sobriety tests and did not observe any indications of impairment. One subject was found passed out on the back patio, and Bethel Twp. medics were called. The subject was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center for treatment. Deputies were able to locate the teenager accountable for the incident. She said that she had invited a few friends over for an after-graduation gathering with her parents’ permission. She said that her friends invited other people, and that is when things got out of hand. Some of the attendees had come from as far away as Cincinnati. The girl said that things were blown out of control by social media. Deputies collected numerous alcoholic containers and green vegetable matter from throughout the home. Several windows were broken and screens were torn from the frames. There was trash all over the neighborhood. Deputies estimated that 1,000 people were at the party and over 300 vehicles were parked on the streets. The girl and her mother went throughout the neighborhood and collected 9 bags of trash. Deputies were to consult with the prosecutor’s office on possible charges.

1:58 a.m. To W. Jefferson St. for a report of two people fighting in a vehicle. The residents said that they were talking loudly outside but were not arguing or fighting. Neither had any physical injuries.

7:37 a.m. To Shawnee Park Pl. for a report of found property. A woman reported that there was a large party at her home last night, and when she woke up, she found a plastic bag with marijuana in it. She said she found it in her back yard. The property was collected and placed into evidence.

10:25 a.m. To Family Dollar for a peace officer call. A woman reported that she has court paperwork granting her custody of her grandson. The paperwork showed that the father had visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. today and ending Sunday at 4:00 p.m. She said she wanted to make sure he knew that he had to return the boy. Deputies went to the father’s home and he was advised of the order. He was also advised that the mother could not have any contact with the boy. The father advised that the mother would be leaving the residence while the boy was there and that he would meet the grandmother at a neutral location for the exchange so there would be no problems.

10:28 a.m. To S. Tecumseh Rd. for a report of found property. A man reported that there was a large party at a neighboring residence last night, and he found two plastic bags with marijuana inside and a red plastic prescription bottle labelled codeine syrup. He said that he found them while checking on his property. The items were collected and placed into property.

12:25 p.m. To Lee’s Chicken for a report of a custody dispute. A man showed court paperwork stating that he is to have visitation with his son on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. He said that the boy’s mother is refusing his visitation. He asked that the incident be documented.

9:25 p.m. To Andrews Lane for a report of a domestic dispute. A man reported that he and his child’s mother were having an argument over relationship issues. He said he got mad and broke a chair outside of the residence. He said that the argument was not physical and there were no threats. The girlfriend confirmed his story.

Tuesday 6/14

7:18 p.m. Domestic dispute in the 7100 block of Ross Road. Dispatch advised deputy that a male had grabbed the RP’s neck and then ran away from the residence. The male was believed to be heading westbound on Ross Road but deputy was unable to locate him. At the residence deputy met with the involved RP and family. The RP stated he felt that the male might suffer from a mental illness but has not be evaluated. The RP had gone into the male’s room and encouraged him to clean the room. The RP began to help the male who became upset and grabbed the RP’s head and neck area. After the altercation the male left on foot. When leaving the residence, the deputy saw a male that matched the suspect’s description. Contact was made with the male and when asked what happened, his story was similar to the one told by the RP. The male agreed to return to the residence. The deputy spoke with the group and the male agreed to try counseling to help deal with problems he was having.

Friday 6/17

9:51 a.m. Animal complaint in the 5100 block of Westland Drive. Deputy sat for 10 minutes and didn’t hear a dog bark. He approached the residence and spoke the dog’s owner. She was advised of the complaint made and the Bethel ordinance regarding barking dogs.

Monday 6/20

6:17 a.m. Theft not in progress in the 4200 block of US Route 40. An unknown person(s) had gained access to a residence and stole a cordless drive and charger. Case is pending further investigation.

9:37 p.m. Suspicious person/vehicle reported in the 9200 block of Mann Road. At the time of the report there was no further information available.

Tuesday 6/21

2:38 p.m. Fraud reported in the 7200 block of Palmer Road. An unknown person(s) made four charges during the past week using the RP’s banking information.

6:07 p.m. Theft reported in the 7300 block of Ross Road. RP reported that a New Holland Mower Conditioner, Model 461, red and yellow in color had been stolen. RP was unable to provide a serial number. This case is suspended until further information or evidence is obtained.

9:03 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 6900 block of Scarff Road, RP stated a male came over to the residence and started tearing up the house. The male asked for the title to a vehicle and the RP didn’t know where it was located. The male became angry and grabbed a laptop computer and threw it across the room. The RP was afraid of the male so he exited the residence and called 911. While on the phone dispatch heard the male yelling he was going to kill the RP. Alone in the residence the male continued to be destructive. The male eventually came outside and left before the Deputy arrived on scene. Deputy was able to see the damage the male had done and advised the RP that he would attempt to contact the male advising him he was being charged with domestic violence. Deputy left a voice mail for the male asking him to contact him. On Wednesday 6/22 Frank Schwab contacted the deputy, Schwab was advised that he would be charged with domestic.
