Sunday 5/22

9:30 p.m. To the 3500 block of Spence Rd. for a report of an accident. A driver went off the right side of the roadway, struck a marker sign and a mail box, then fled the scene.

10:26 a.m. To Lake Rd. A woman reported that someone had driven through her yard. She also reported that she is going through a divorce and has a protection order against her husband. She said that he has been calling and texting her all night. She said he left a voicemail stating that he got a credit card in her name. The deputy was familiar with the husband because he has been arrested twice for violating the protection order. The husband is being charged with identity theft and violating a protection order.

7:17 p.m. To Edgebrook Dr. for a report of menacing. A woman reported that her father threatened her boyfriend, and she recorded the conversation. She played it for the deputy, and he heard a male voice saying that he did not care if he went to jail and that he would shoot the boyfriend. The boyfriend said he takes threats very seriously and wants to press charges. The woman advised that she wants to press charges as well. The deputy will be contacting the Prosecutor’s Office to see if charges are warranted.

7:54 p.m. To Linden Ave. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that someone left black spray paint marks on her vehicle. The marks start at the trunk and go down to the bumper. She said that kids have been playing on the property and should not be there. She asked for an extra patrol of the area.

Monday 5/23

7:06 a.m. To Cedar Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone stole her vehicle while it sat running in her driveway. The woman and her husband were on the phone with her brother, who advised that the vehicle had turned off of I-70 onto Rt. 201. Huber Heights Police were notified. Officers located the vehicle in Miami County but in Huber Heights jurisdiction. Huber and Tipp police searched the area but could not find a suspect. Later on, Huber PD reported that a woman who lived near where the vehicle was recovered had a man in her garage around the time the vehicle was abandoned. She said she got a good look at him and gave a good description.

9:55 a.m. A Spence Rd. resident called to report that around 5:00 this morning, a vehicle pulled into his driveway and a male exited. He said the man then came to his front door and tried to open it. The door was locked and the man left. He said the man was white, 18-20 years old, wearing light shorts and a blue T-shirt with the number 6 on the back. He said the incident was captured on surveillance video, but none of his family recognized the man. He said he has also informed his neighbors of the incident.

5:17 p.m. To Grissom Ave. for a report of a juvenile setting a fence on fire. Bethel Twp. Fire was on scene and advised that a 7-year-old male was suspected of setting a fence on fire. The boy’s mother said she left the residence for a few minutes and her daughter was watching the boy. She said that her daughter called and said that a neighbor told her that the fence was on fire. She said she tried to put the fire out, but was unsuccessful. The boy said he found sparklers in the home and lit one. He said it started burning him so he threw it, but did not see the fire. The neighbor on the other side of the fence was contacted, and she said that she has had problems with children at that residence damaging her property and throwing things over the fence. She said that she wanted the boy’s mother to pay for damages to the fence. The boy’s mother was advised and agreed to talk to the neighbor to work out the details.

6:39 p.m. To Shannon Ave. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone cut the lock on his shed and stole several items. There are no suspects.

Tuesday 5/24

11:42 a.m. To W. Washington St. for a report of theft. A woman reported that her grandson took several of her checks without her permission. She said that Springfield PD called and asked if he had permission to have her checks, and she said that he took them without her permission. Springfield PD said that they had him in custody and were going to charge him.

6:39 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike. A man reported that he hired a tree service to cut down a tree. He said that the company has been giving him the runaround and has not completed the job. He said that a company worker was at his residence today and advised that his equipment broke and he needed more money to fix it. He said he refused to give the worker money and the worker became upset and left in a hurry. He said that the worker returned a short while later and backed into the man’s fence causing minor damage. The worker then sped out of the driveway heading west. The company owner arrived on scene and agreed to fix the fence and complete the job.

Wednesday 5/25

12:46 a.m. To Woodbury Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she and her boyfriend had been arguing because she decided to walk home from work, rather than wait for a friend to pick her up. She indicated that there had been physical contact but would not elaborate further. She would not sign a statement. The boyfriend left when deputies arrived and she was content with that.

9:30 p.m. While stationary in the parking lot of New Carlisle Elementary School, a school employee approached the deputy to report that someone had broken the bus gate leading to the playground. Five subjects were at the playground and said that they had been there for about an hour and didn’t see anyone near the gate. They said that one gate was open, but they didn’t realize it was damaged. It appeared as if someone had been hanging from the gate. The principal was contacted and said that she would review surveillance video in the morning to see if the incident was captured on video. The five subjects were asked to leave the school property for the evening.

Friday 5/20

4:23 p.m. Theft reported in the 8900 block of S. State Route 202. Two Sthil chainsaws had been stolen out of a truck. RP had last seen them early that morning when he had left for work. Upon returning home RP noticed a cooler sitting on the ground and the compartment door was open where the chainsaws had been stored, RP said the gate that leads back to the trucks always stays locked. RP was able to provide a name to the Deputy who might be involved with the theft. RP further stated this male had a drug problem and knew where the equipment was located. The RP had contacted this male and he denied any knowledge of the theft. RP will be providing more information so deputy could search the system to see if the chainsaws had been pawned.

Monday 5/23

3:23 a.m. Burglary reported in the 4400 block of West Charleston Road. Deputies responded to a suspicious priority, it was believed two men were in the residence. Upon arrival the garage door and basement door were found open. RP stated he had heard two male voices in the basement. RP made his presence known and also entered the basement only to find the males had escaped and the basement door open. While processing the scene shoe prints were found that the RP stated did not belong to the family. Photos of the scene were processed.

Tuesday 5/24

9:17 a.m. Disturbance reported in the 7400 block of S. State Route 202. Male and female had been in a verbal argument. Female stated nothing physical had occurred. Male left for work and both were advised to call the sheriff’s office if there were any further issues.

Wednesday 5/25

2:47 p.m. Disturbance reported at Charleston Falls, 2535 Ross Road. Upon arrival deputy found a male and female swimming in the water under the falls. Both were advised swimming in the falls was not permitted and were given a warning. They were then asked to leave the park,

Friday 5/27

7:33 p.m. Theft not in progress in the 4000 block of Gibson Drive. Sometime between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. an unknown subject(s) cut through a fence and removed items from a work van

9:50 p.m. Traffic stop for only one working headlight in the area of E. State Route 571 and S. State Route 201. Contact was made with both occupants of the vehicle. While speaking with the occupants an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. After checking both driver’s licenses through LEADS, the driver was asked to step out of his vehicle. Deputy told the driver he had detected the odor of marijuana and he denied having anything illegal in the vehicle. Then speaking with the passenger Anthone Taylor who admitted to having a baggie of marijuana tucked into his pants. No further contraband was found while searching the vehicle. The driver was cited for having only one working headlight. Mr. Taylor was cited for possession of marijuana. They were both released from the scene.

11:25 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 9100 block of Wildcat Road. Male and female in a verbal argument. Both stated there had not been any physical threats. Both were wanted for domestic violence.

Saturday 5/28

4:57 p.m. Reckless operation of a motor vehicle in the 5500 block of S. State Route 202. RP called dispatch to report a vehicle crossing over the center line and drove off the road. Deputy was able to locate the vehicle and follow it. He also observed the vehicle go over the white fog line and drifting in the lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver identified as George Coldwell III. Coldwell was unable to produce a valid driver’s license and deputy noticed he has slurred speech. Coldwell produced three prescription bottles of his medication and stated he was taking the medication properly. Passing the standardized field sobriety tests Coldwell was cited for marked lanes violations and driving under suspension. A relative responded to the scene to get Coldwell and his vehicle.

Sunday 5/29

3:39 p.m. Theft reported in the 6300 block of Pisgah Road. RP thought somebody had taken her spotted rocky mountain gelding horse. On May 30 the deputy was notified that the horse had been found safe and returned to the RP.

Monday 5/30

7:35 p.m. Theft reported in the 7900 block of S. State Route 202. RP reported that his dog was just taken from his property. After a short time the deputy received a call from the Miami Park District stating that somebody had just dropped off a dog at Charleston Falls Park. Deputy responded to the park and the dog matched the description of the dog that had been stolen. Dog was returned to the RP.

Tuesday 5/31

4:13 p.m. Theft not in progress in the 5100 block of Westland Drive. Unknown subject(s) entered through an unlocked back door stealing multiple guns. Latent prints were lifted from the scene that will be submitted to the crime lab for processing.

6:59 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 6800 block of Walnut Street. RP advised that her and her brother-in-law had been in a verbal argument. The brother-in-law admitted to hitting the RP’s son for being unruly. The son admitted to being unruly and confirmed he had been struck. The RP did not want to press charges; she just didn’t want him to discipline her children. The male stated he understood and would let the RP handle the kids.

Friday 6/3

4:55 a.m. Assist squad in the 9400 block of S. Mann Road. A female claimed to have a broken leg sustained from an argument with a male. Contact was made with the male, identified as John Mills, Jr and asked what had happened. Mills thought the female had been on social media on his phone, took it back from her and then broke it. He also claimed they had been arguing and he was attempting to get to work. He grabbed he, pushed her aside and this is when she fell breaking her leg. The female refused to provide a written statement and did not want him arrested. Due to Mills admitting to pushing her, he was placed under arrest for domestic violence. He was transported to the Miami County Jail where he was incarcerated.
