Sunday 5/1


12:55 a.m. To Kennedy Dr. for a report of a break-in in progress. A man reported that he saw a man trying to break into his shed that is next to his trailer. He said he could hear someone running on top of his trailer. He could not give a description of the subject, but gave the name of a man with whom he has had issues for years. Deputies checked the area but could not find the subject. The man said that nothing was missing and there was no damage to his property. He requested that the incident be documented because he had a court date the next day for a protection order against the subject.

1:35 a.m. To Lake Rd. for a report of a domestic dispute. A woman reported that she was involved in a verbal argument with her boyfriend over his drinking. She said that a friend offered him a beer, and she told him that she was not going to sit there and let him drink in front of her. She said that he became verbally abusive and began yelling at her and calling her names. The boyfriend said that she thought he was drinking, but he was not. She said that she was going to spend the night with her sister.

1:39 p.m. To Fair Ave. for a report of credit card misuse. A man reported that he tried to buy gas on his credit card but it was declined. He said he contacted his bank and they told him that his card had been compromised. He said that there were three unauthorized charges for a total of over $500.

4:41 p.m. To Rosewood Rd. A woman was concerned for her 2-year-old nephew because his father was riding him on his dirt bike without a helmet. She said she contacted the boy’s mother and the mother suggested calling deputies. She also said that the parents are going through a divorce and that over the past several months the boy’s father has been showing erratic behavior and that she is concerned for his safety. The father denied the accusations and said that the mother is trying to make him look bad in their upcoming divorce. He showed the deputy the boy’s dirt bike with training wheels and the boy’s helmet.

8:09 p.m. To Marquart Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that overnight someone stole his tractor that he used to plow snow in the winter. He said that this is not the first time he has been a theft victim, and that he has installed motion sensitive lighting. He said he checked the area to see if he could locate his tractor, but was unsuccessful. He provided the model and serial numbers and the tractor was entered into the system as stolen.

8:48 p.m. To Brumbaugh Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that while he was carrying groceries into his grandmother’s home, someone took the rear plate off of his vehicle. He asked that the incident be documented.

9:00 p.m. To Galewood Dr. A man reported that his wife had just been released from jail and came home and threw a lamp against a door. He said he did not want to deal with her “starting her stuff” tonight. He was advised that the wife could not be arrested for breaking personal property. The wife said that she was gathering her belongings to stay elsewhere for the night and left the residence. The man was visibly upset and disrespectful because the deputies could not do anything. At 10:13, deputies again were dispatched to the home because she came home to sleep in her bed. She told deputies that she had no place else to go. Both were advised to stay separated for the night.

9:44 p.m. To Sycamore Rd. for a report of a disturbance. An anonymous caller reported that someone stated that they were going to get a gun and shoot a dog. A woman stated that her pit bull killed her brother’s cat. She said that her brother’s girlfriend had her dog locked in the bathroom and refused to give the dog back, stating “a pet for a pet.” The deputy then visited the girlfriend, and she said that the dog had broken through the privacy fence, then broke into her back door and killed her cat, so she hit it with a shovel. She was advised that she could be charged with animal cruelty. She refused to get the dog, so the brother brought the dog to the deputy. She was advised that the deputy would be getting back with her after checking with the Humane Society regarding charges. The deputy spoke with a Humane Society representative and was told that charges would apply. The representative said that if the dog was taken to a veterinarian and had trauma, it would help with the court proceedings. The deputy again spoke with the three parties. All apologized for their behavior and said that they were just upset. The girlfriend was very apologetic and said that she struck the dog in anger over her cat being killed. No charges were filed.

Monday 5/2


10:14 a.m. To Choctaw Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone removed a wrought iron bench from his front porch.

11:52 a.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of a trespasser. Huber Heights Police were also called due to the proximity to the county line. A woman reported that last weekend, she saw a man on her property and told him to leave several times before he finally left. She said that he returned today, and she went out with her dog and a gun and told him to get off of her property. She said he said that it was not her yard and came closer and her dog went after him. She said he grabbed the dog and pulled her in the roadway saying he was going to get the dog hit by a car. She said she fired a warning shot into the trees and he left. Huber Heights police found him on David Allen Drive and returned him to the scene. The suspect said he was looking for “poke” for “poke salad.” He said that he was in the ditch. The woman did not want to press charges, but wanted him to stay off of her property.

2:34 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a private property crash. A man said that while inside the BMV, someone struck his vehicle on the passenger side, scratching the paint. Surveillance video showed an elderly woman with a walker parked next to him. The vehicle left possibly south on Main St. The deputy checked with other businesses to try to identify the driver but was unsuccessful.

2:08 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of an accident. A vehicle was southbound on Main St. waiting for the light at Lake Ave. and was rear-ended by another vehicle.

7:44 p.m. To Musselman Rd. for a report of identity fraud. A man reported receiving a bill from DP&L in his name but for an address in West Dayton. He said he does not do business with DP&L. He said the bill was for a past due balance of $936.68 and a current balance of $632.05. He said he called DP&L, but was advised that no service representatives were available to speak with him.

Tuesday 5/3


12:24 a.m. A woman who was involved in an accident at Main and Lake said that she put information on Facebook about the accident trying to find the other party. She said that a body shop replied and said that a vehicle that matched the description she gave had come in asking for an estimate on repairs. She said that the body shop did not give any further information.

2:57 p.m. To Richard Ct. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone took two hanging flower baskets from outside of her residence. She said that she was heartbroken because they were a Mother’s day gift from her daughter, and that she has never had anything stolen from her property before. She said she heard a vehicle speeding in the area earlier today, but didn’t know if it was related.

5:05 p.m. To Main and Lake for a report of an accident. A driver northbound was stopped for the light and was rear-ended by another driver. The second driver was cited for speed and assured clear distance.

Wednesday 5/4


8:18 a.m. To Winchester St. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that someone broke a window on the front of her residence. She requested a report for her insurance company.

11:44 a.m. To Hartley Ave. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman, who was visibly upset, reported that her son threw her over a chair and hit her in the arm. She said that her son was high on drugs and left before the deputy arrived. She was asked to fill out a statement and became more upset and argumentative. She just kept repeating “I don’t want him arrested, I want him to get off the drugs.” Bethel Twp. Medics arrived, but she refused treatment. She gave the deputy a glass pipe with possible marijuana residue inside and said that it belonged to her son. No charges were filed at this time.

7:12 a.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of an attempted breaking and entering. The property manager reported that someone tried to break into her office and the shed, and stole an ash tray that was mounted to the wall. She said that she has made a few tenants mad in the last week, and they could have done this, but she does not have proof.

11:00 a.m. A New Carlisle resident stated that he met a woman on a dating website and that they have been exchanging texts, pictures and phone calls. He said that he had sent her money so she could come to the U.S. so they could be married. He said she told him that it is her family’s tradition that her family will send him money and he will return it to show that he is worthy to marry her. He said that he was sent $2000 in money orders. He said he cashed them and tried to return the money, but was told that it’s flagged and that he couldn’t send the money. He said he will check with the issuers of the money orders to see if this is a fraudulent transaction.

12:37 p.m. To Addison New Carlisle Rd. for a neighbor dispute. A man reported that his neighbor installed a security light and he voiced his displeasure to him. He said the conversation became heated. He said he went outside and the neighbor said that he was going to shoot the man. An electric company representative was on scene and heard the threats. The neighbor said that he had called the man to advise him that the electric company could be turning off his electricity for a short period while the light was being installed. He said that the man became irate and he hung up on him. He said that the man then came outside and came to him in an aggressive manner, and he told the RP that if he continued, he was going to get his gun. He denied threatening to shoot anyone. The electric company representative related a story similar to the neighbor’s, and said it appeared that the neighbor was trying to protect himself. Due to conflicting stories, no charges were filed.

4:54 p.m. While on patrol, a deputy found a box of roofing nails spilled on the road in front of Tecumseh High School. He collected the nails and completed a report in case someone claims damage later.

11:42 p.m. To Plumwood Dr. for a report of vandalism. A woman reported that she returned home from vacation and noticed several dents in her siding and her garage door. She and the deputy walked around the house and saw several dents that could have been from anything striking the house. How the dents were caused is unknown.

8:25 a.m. To Hocker Dr. A 14-year-old girl reported that her father woke her up last night to do the dishes. She said that she didn’t want to do them since she was in bed for the night. She said he grabbed her by the shirt, threw her to the ground, ripping her shirt in the process. She said he then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to her feet, then grabbed her chin and pushed her down again. She had visible injuries consistent with her story. The girl’s mother, who has custody, was notified and released to her. The father was contacted and said that he was being unruly and that he threw her but did not mean to cause injuries. Warrants were issued against the father for domestic violence and assault.

11:45 a.m. An Enon Rd. resident called to report that her mailbox and post were pulled up from the ground and taken. There are no suspects.

3:35 p.m. To W. National Rd. and Lake Rd. for a report of an erratic driver. The caller then advised that the vehicle was on Lake Rd. at Tulip Rd. The caller then called back to report that the vehicle was parked at a business on Quick Rd. Workers from a neighboring business recognized the vehicle from an earlier incident where the vehicle was doing donuts in the gravel parking lot. The workers said they parked behind the vehicle and tried to contact the driver. The vehicle then pulled away and went over a flower bed damaging the flowers and the timber containing it. Surveillance video was to be provided.

5:38 p.m. On April 25, while on patrol, a deputy saw a vehicle parked in a driveway on Firwood Dr. that had tags that expired in 2015. She did a registration check and learned that the registered owner was deceased. She spoke with the residents and they said it has been parked there since last fall and they don’t know who owns it. It was tagged to be moved within 48 hours. Today she saw that the vehicle had not been moved. It was considered to be abandoned and was towed.

8:45 a.m. To Jefferson & Henry Streets for a report of an accident. A driver was turning right onto Henry St. when another vehicle tried to pass on the right, and struck the vehicle that was turning. The second driver was cited for passing on the right.

Friday 5/6


6:14 p.m. Criminal damages reported in the 1300 block of Dayton Brandt Rd. RP had just installed a string type fence around a property. The following day she noticed parts of the fence were damaged. RP stated she is in a civil dispute with other family members over this property and wanted to document the damage.

Saturday 5/7


7:58 p.m. Found property in the area of S. Dayton Brandt and Agenbroad Rd. RP was jogging when he found a Rugar handgun laying on the roadside. The gun was run through LEADS with no hits. The gun was booked into evidence for safekeeping.

Tuesday 5/10


9:41 a.m. Disturbance reported in the 4400 block of West Charleston Road. Male said he had been in a verbal dispute with his mother. Deputy spoke with the mother who confirmed there had been nothing physical between the two. She stated he had make threats and wanted him trespassed from the property. Jordan Schwartz collected his belongings and left the residence.

7:48 p.m. Dispute reported in the 9100 block of S. State Route 201. Male reported that his sister stated to argue with him. He said she got in his face during the argument but didn’t want to press charges, only wanted a report of the incident.

8:31 p.m. Suspicious activity in the 8600 block of Bellefontaine Road. Dispatched said a caller reported people riding ATV’s on a church’s property and was going to shoot them. It turned out the caller lived in Clarke County but the riders were in Miami County. Deputy responded to the church to advised the ATV riders to leave the property. One of the riders advised a neighbor threw rocks at them and hit their bodies as they rode by and wished to press charges. Frank Rich was charged to two counts of assault and issued a summons.

Wednesday 5/11


2:42 a.m. Traffic stop for a license plate light in the area of S. Dayton Brandt Rd and S. State Route 201. Contact was made with the driver Matthew B. Lostutter and passenger Cody J. Sharp. While speaking with them the Deputy noticed a smoking pipe made out of aluminum foil and electrical tape in the driver’s cup holder. Deputy returned to the cruiser to run a check on both males and upon his return he asked the driver to exit the vehicle. Deputy noticed the pipe was now missing from the cup holder. When asked, Lostutter admitted to putting the pipe in his pocket and he used it to smoke tobacco and marijuana. The retrieved pipe had an odor of burnt marijuana. A further search of Lostutter located in his jacket’s front pocke a black/white Digiweigh digital scale that contained green plant material. Lostutter stated he used the scales to make sure he wasn’t ripped off and denied using it to weigh and sell drugs. Sharp was asked to also exit the vehicle and informed he was not under arrest but he would be checked for weapons. Found in is right front pocket was a pipe used for smoking marijuana. Both males were seated in the back seat of the Deputy’s cruiser and informed they were under audio/video surveillance. A search of the vehicle found nothing else illegal. The two were issued citations for marijuana drug paraphernalia. Lostutter was also cited for no license plate light.

Thursday 5/12


9:46 p.m. Animal abuse complaint in the 6900 block of E. State Route 571. RP stated her dog had been abused while staying at a local kennel. The RP advised the dog was currently at a veterinarian receiving treatment for the injuries. This case is pending further investigation.

Friday 5/13


5:50 a.m. Deputy assisted Bethel EMS on a drug overdose in the 8100 block of Wildcat Road.
