Sunday 4/17

8:16 a.m. To W. Lake Ave. for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. The caller advised hearing a man yelling at a woman and things being thrown. Upon deputies’ arrival, they heard what the caller described. The man and woman reported that they weren’t arguing. The man said ye was yelling because he had so many bills and didn’t know how he’s going to pay them. Neither party cooperated and maintained that they were not arguing.
8:13 p.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of a fraud. A man reported that there was a charge to his debit card that he did not authorize. It was for $317.85 at a store in Huber Heights. He believes an employee of another store in Huber copied down his card information. He provided the receipt from the Huber store with the employee’s name as a possible suspect.

Monday 4/18

9:36 p.m. To Pepperwood Dr. for a report of an assault. A man reported that his 18-year-old son was being disrespectful to his mother, and when he stepped in, the son assaulted him and wrestled him to the ground. The wife said that the son was cursing at his father and said that he was going to inflict bodily harm and kicked him. The son said he argued with his mother and when his father got involved they started to fight. The son was arrested and taken to the Clark County Jail.

Tuesday 4/19

6:58 a.m. To Kennedy Rd. for a report of menacing. A man reported that he gave a family friend $1000 so that he could move his wife here from Mexico. He said he had contacted the friend to see when he would be repaying the money since the entire family was working. He said that the friend told him to come to his home and get it. He said that when he arrived, the friend became upset and started yelling at him. He said he was walking toward his vehicle when the friend drove at him nearly hitting him. He said that the friend then got out of his vehicle and pulled out a gun. He said the friend then got back into his vehicle and left the scene. Since there were no witnesses to the friend pulling a gun, no charges could be filed. The RP was given information on obtaining a protection order.
6:12 p.m. To Grove Rd. for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone stole the air conditioner form his home. He said he asked neighbors, but none of them saw anyone around his property.

Wednesday 4/20

2:10 p.m. To Prentice Dr. for a report of found items. A woman reported finding a bottle of pills in her back yard. She said that previous owners used to throw trash and burn items in that area of the yard. The bottle had no label and looked like it was buried in the dirt. It had 15 white pills that were determined to be Prednisone. The pills and bottle were put into evidence to be destroyed.
4:45 p.m. To Slayton St. A woman said that she was admitted to the hospital and her mother took care of her children and used her child support money. She said her mother is refusing to return her children and her money. The mother agreed to return the children and $250 of child support money.
5:28 p.m. To Bayberry Dr. for a report of found items. A man reported that on April 17, a young man ran through his yard. He said that he found an Ohio State bag containing body spray, a phone charger, a sound bar and a baggie of what appeared to be marijuana. The items were placed into evidence.

Thursday 4/21

1:58 a.m. To W. Jefferson St. for a report of an attempted burglary. A woman reported that she heard her dog barking, then glass breaking. A deputy walked around the house and saw a broken window. It appeared to have fallen and broke when it hit the couch. The screen was still in place and showed no evidence of tampering. She was provided a report for her landlord.
7:06 p.m. To Bayberry Dr. for a report of phone harassment. A man reported that his ex-girlfriend has been making harassing phone calls and making up stories about him to get him sent back to prison. He said he did not want to press charges, but wanted the incidents documented. He said that if it continues, he will record the conversations and press charges.
9:03 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A man reported that he was arguing with his live-in girlfriend for being unemployed and having no money. The girlfriend related the same story. Both stated that the argument was only verbal, not physical.
9:35 p.m. Traffic stop on Pease Ave. for rolling through a stop sign. The driver was found to be wanted for a theft in Middletown. They said to release him since they have not yet filed the warrant.

Friday 4/22

9:55 a.m. Traffic stop on Main St., Medway. Approaching the vehicle, the deputy could smell fresh marijuana. The vehicle was checked and a bag of marijuana was found in the driver’s possession. She was charged with possession of drugs.
10:22 a.m. To Woodbury Rd. for a welfare check. A woman who had just been the subject of a traffic stop gave a false name. The deputy remembered her because he had twice arrested her. She was found to have two outstanding warrants. She was arrested and charged with falsification, obstructing justice and obstructing official business.
5:43 p.m. Traffic stop on S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. While the vehicle was pulling over, the deputy saw the driver lean over to the passenger side as if he was trying to hide something. Once the vehicle was stopped, the driver got out in a hurry. He said “I’m going into the store.” He was patted down and was found to have a silver pipe on him. The pipe had marijuana in it. The deputy then checked the vehicle and found two more pipes with marijuana in them. He was cited for possession of drugs and other offenses and was ordered into court.
6:05 p.m. To N. Church St. for a report of criminal damaging. A man reported that part of his fence had fallen over and he thought it was from high winds. He said he has since learned that neighborhood kids had torn it down. Other kids helped him fix the fence. He asked that the incident be documented.
7:01 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a theft. A store employee reported that a man who had just been the subject of a traffic stop near the store came in and stole merchandise. Surveillance video plainly showed the theft. The employee said the man then walked toward Huber Heights. A warrant was filed against Nickolas Hyslop, of Kennedy Dr., for theft.

Saturday 4/23

8:30 p.m. An informant reported that a Dayton drug dealer was transporting heroin to the Park Layne area to sell it. He was to be at the Quality Food Mart lot. The suspect’s vehicle was located on S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. and turned onto Gerlaugh Rd. without using a signal. As he entered the apartments on Gerlaugh Rd. the deputy initiated a traffic stop. The suspect then continued on Gerlaugh Rd. and tried to turn onto LeMay, but saw another deputy there. He then stopped on Gerlaugh Rd. Deputies could see the driver moving around as if he was hiding something. Deputies approached the vehicle and the driver said that his insurance had lapsed and he did not have proof of insurance. The K9 was brought in and alerted to the driver’s door. The vehicle was searched but nothing was found. The vehicle smelled of marijuana. He was asked for his cell phone to check it for criminal activity and the driver said that the phone was not his but belonged to a friend. Deputies called the informant and the informant suggested looking for a foil wrapper in the driver’s door. The foil was located and it contained a white powder. The driver was then arrested for possession of drugs. The vehicle was towed.
8:44 p.m. To Firwood Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that she and her husband were involved in an argument because he was upset with her because she did not care that the singer Prince had died. She said that he pushed her and she hit her head on the coffee table. She then changed her story and said that no altercation took place. She was very intoxicated and disoriented and admitted to drinking alcohol tonight. She asked to be checked out by New Carlisle Medics for a bump on her head. She said that she did not remember how her head was injured. The couple’s daughter said that her dad got mad “out of nowhere” and started choking her. She said that when her mother saw what was happening, she intervened and the father pushed her, causing her to fall and hit her head on the coffee table. She said that her dad then started choking her mom until her face turned red and she couldn’t breathe. She said she and her mom then went to a neighbor’s home for safety. She said that both often drink a fifth of liquor each night. She said that she is afraid of her father when he drinks, but doesn’t want him to go to jail because he is the bread-winner, and without him they would be on the streets. Deputies went to their home to contact the father but couldn’t get him to answer the door. The wife refused to give permission for the deputies to enter, but then allowed them in if she accompanied them. They found the doors to be locked, and she didn’t have her key with her. All parties agreed that the daughter would stay with friends and the wife was transported to Project woman for the night. She was strongly advised not to return home. The daughter filled out a statement and warrants were issued against the father for two counts of domestic violence and two counts of assault. The next day, the daughter wanted to return to her home to gather a few things and deputies responded to act as peace officers. They found the home to be ransacked. The daughter said it was not that way when she left and that her dad must have destroyed the rooms. While deputies were on the scene, the parents arrived and the father was placed under arrest for domestic violence and assault.

Saturday 4/23

3:08 a.m. Traffic stop for speeding in the area of US Route 40 and Palmer Road. Contact was made with the owner/driver David L. Hapner, Jr, a front seat passenger and rear seat passenger Mary Lewis. It was found that Lewis had an active warrant out of Clark County. Hapner was issued a citation for speeding (71 MPH in a 55 MPH zone).

Sunday 4/24

7:38 p.m. Unruly juvenile in the 7900 block of Dayton Brandt Road, Female called MCSO to report her 7-year-old son had been threatened on the bus by another Bethel student. Female had already spoken to the school administration but also wanted to file a police report. Case pending until deputy can speak with the school staff for more details.

Thursday 4/28

10:21 a.m. Fraud reported in the 4200 block of US Route 40,
11:01 a.m. Fraud reported at Big Mike’s BP, 8561 S. State Route 201. RP stopped in the MCSO to report a fraud incident. No further information available,
4:11 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 6200 block of Elizabeth Bethel Road. No further information available.

Friday 4/29

2:46 a.m. Suspicious vehicle in the 4800 block of S. State Route 202. While on routine patrol deputy noticed a vehicle at the listed location. Also observed was a male walking away from the vehicle. Contact was made with the male who advised he was attempting to change the tire. He was instructed to return to the vehicle and the deputy would provide assistance. The deputy ran the license plate through LEADS with a return as stolen. The male was detained and identified as Westly Vertees who had a warrant out of Franklin County. A second deputy responded to the scene and ran the VIN to confirm the vehicle had been stolen from Oakwood. Vertees stated he came from Dayton to take a friend to his girlfriend’s residence. He further stated his friend was picked up from the scene by a female. Deputy observed multiple latent prints on the vehicle and multiple tools. The scene was processed and the deputy was able to collect several latent prints. K9 Bear and deputy were requested to the scene. The area was searched and a Clarence Hughes was located laying in the ditch. The owner of the vehicle reported to the scene and said none of the tools belonged to her. Vertees and Hughes were transported to the Miami County Jail and charged with receiving stolen property and left of license plate.
