Sunday 4/3

1:42 a.m. To Funston Dr. for a report of threats. A woman reported that a male subject was in the Park Layne Shopping Center parking lot and had a female victim at gunpoint trying to make her get into his vehicle. Deputies immediately went to Park Layne but the subject had already left. They went back to Funston and a man said that he was on Osborn Rd. and another vehicle was following him very closely. He said he let the vehicle pass and he saw that the driver was the male subject. He said the subject then stopped abruptly and almost made him run off the road. While he was talking to the deputy, the female victim called and said that she was fine. She said that the subject threatened her with a gun but never showed the weapon. The male subject does have outstanding warrants. Deputies were unable to locate him.
3:00 a.m. To Weinland St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her sons were arguing and that she yelled at them to shut up and go to bed. She would not allow deputies in her home. She was advised that she must have the boys come outside so they could be checked. Both boys said that they were arguing over “a stupid playstation four game,” and that there was no physical altercation. None of the parties were cooperative. They were advised to keep the noise down.
11:01 a.m. To Charles Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A 9-year-old boy reported that his mom’s boyfriend had hit her. He said that the boyfriend was screaming at his mother for no reason. He went to his room with his mother and started to text his grandmother. He said the boyfriend got mad and smacked him and took his phone. The mother had left before deputies arrived, so they called her and left a message to call back.
4:41 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a custody dispute. A woman reported that her soon-to-be-ex-husband has court-ordered visitation and that they are to meet at Lee’s at 2:00 p.m. so she can pick up their son. She said he has yet to arrive. Attempts to reach the father were unsuccessful. While they were talking, the father texted the mother and said that he fell asleep and that he was on his way with the child. She requested that the incident be documented.
5:56 p.m. To N. Clay St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that a yard decoration was stolen from his back yard. There are no suspects.
9:36 p.m. To W. Main St., Medway, for a report of an argument. Deputies arrived to find a man and a woman parked in the Post Office lot. Both admitted that they had been drinking and were arguing over money. The deputy transported them to their home in Medway, and they had their son go pick up their vehicle.
10:30 p.m. To Lambers Dr. for a report of an assault. A woman stated that her 14-year-old daughter had been texting a 17-year-old boy with whom she had taken improper liberties. She said the girls phone was then broken. She said the girl had gone to her aunt’s home. Deputies went there and the girl had marks on the left side of her face. She said her mother’s boyfriend hit her because he was mad at her mother for cheating on him. The girl’s sister stated that the boyfriend was mad because the 14-year-old was messaging a boy and because she had seen her real father. A warrant was issued against the boyfriend for domestic violence and assault.

Monday 4/4

3:00 p.m. To Hedwick St. for a welfare check. The deputy arrived to see an SUV pull into the driveway and the passenger was the subject of the welfare check. Another passenger stepped out of the vehicle and as he did, he dropped a heroin capsule on the ground. He was searched and more capsules were found. He was booked into the Clark County Jail for possession of heroin.
3:30 p.m. To W. Jefferson St. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that her husband received an e-mail from his bank informing him that his account was overdrawn. They checked the statement and found that four unauthorized purchases were made on the card. One charge made at a Speedway in Illinois was for $69.27, another in New York for $10 and two charges to Victoria’s Secret for $270. All were made yesterday. She said she contacted the Speedway and was advised that they might have surveillance video of the transaction but cannot release it without a police report. She was advised to contact her bank with the report number.
3:37 p.m. To New Carlisle Pike for a report of a theft. A man reported that someone used his identity to open a charge account. He said that he had started working for Eclipse Branding Solutions as a quality control agent. He was to check for damaged boxes and then ship them to the buyers. He said that buyers are located all over the world. It is believed that the company takes the orders, then uses the RP’s account to buy it. He contacted the company where the charge account was opened and they requested a police report.
5:24 p.m. To Medway Dr. for a report of identity fraud. A woman reported that she filed her taxes and found that someone else had filed under her name. She said she received a second letter stating that someone set up a bank account to have her refund deposited into, and requested a police report.
8:39 p.m. To Gerlaugh Rd. for a report of an accident. A driver west on Gerlaugh Rd. suffered a medical condition, went off the right side of the road and struck a trash can. He was taken to the hospital for diabetic issues and was cited for driving under suspension and failure to control.
11:37 p.m. To Ballentine Pike for a report of phone harassment. A man reported receiving unwanted text messages from his ex-girlfriend and has asked her to stop. He wanted the incident documented.
11:49 p.m. To Rosewood Rd. for a report of a shooting. A woman reported that a male subject had fired shots at her son. The son said that he and his girlfriend were at another residence and his girlfriend said she was going to leave for a few minutes. He said he followed her and saw her get into a vehicle with a male subject. He said he got upset and went home. He said when he arrived home, the male subject was parked in his driveway. He said he told the subject that he needed to leave. He said the subject pulled out of the driveway and tried to hit him. He then smacked the subject’s windshield with a drink bottle. He said the subject then pulled a small black semi-automatic handgun and fired two shots at him as he ran toward the house. Deputies found two small bullet holes on the side of the house consistent with the handgun he described.

Tuesday 4/5

4:45 a.m. To Colony Trail for a report of phone harassment. A man reported that he received a callfrom an individual informing him that a family member named Chris Miller had been killed in a car crash. He said he told the caller that he did not know anyone by that name. He said the caller then began to scream and he heard two people laughing before the call was ended. The deputy called the number back but it went straight to voice mail.
7:08 a.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The deputy located the vehicle and the female occupant said that her husband had dropped her off, then walked to his mother’s house in Medway. He realized that her story wasn’t making sense. He asked her if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and she said, “No, and you can’t search it, either.” She was asked for her husband’s phone number and the deputy called him. The husband said he had taken her to Rancher’s and the vehicle was supposed to be there. He was advised that the vehicle was at Ace Hardware and that she was acting suspiciously. Another deputy arrived and saw a baggie lying on the seat. Another baggie was located in the cup holder. It contained a pipe and a small amount of marijuana. She was charged with possession of marijuana.
8:31 p.m. To S. Church at Madison for a report of an accident. A driver westbound on Madison failed to stop for the stop sign striking another vehicle southbound on Church St. The first driver was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.
11:00 p.m. A deputy found a bag on the front porch of the New Carlisle Substation. The bag contained a Mastercard and four business cards. They were submitted into evidence.

Wednesday 4/6

2:40 a.m. A deputy saw a vehicle northbound on Main St. very slowly, then it pulled into Speedway and drove in a circle. The deputy approached the elderly female driver who advised she has been driving since 7:00 yesterday morning trying to get home in Columbus. She said her plan was to find a hotel for the night, and the deputy advised her where the nearest hotels were. She said she did not have enough gas, and gave the deputy $10 and he pumped gas for her. The deputy told her that he would follow her to I-70. She was driving slowly on 70 and her driving was very erratic. They arrived in Springfield and a squad was called. She said she has diabetes and other medical issues. Medics said that she was only extremely tired. One of the medics drove her to Motel 6 and the deputies followed. Deputies were unable to reach her family members.
9:11 a.m. To the New Carlisle Fire Department for a possible walk-in overdose. A man reported that he picked up a male subject in Springfield to take him to his home to hang out for the day. He said that on the way, the subject slumped over and was not responding. He said he drove to the Fire Dept. to get help. The subject was given Narcan and transported to Huber Heights ER.
9:59 a.m. To Hemlock Way for a report of vandalism. A man reported that he went out to his vehicle and found that two tires had been slashed. There are no suspects.
10:23 a.m. To Liberty Rd. for a report of bad checks. A man reported that a tenant wrote him a check for rent and it was returned NSF. He said that he has been in contact with the tenant, but she has not made good on the check. He was advised to send a certified letter giving her 10 days to make good on it.
11:58 a.m. To N. Main St. for a report of menacing. A man reported that an unsatisfied customer told him “you don’t know who you’re messing with” and that he would have the man “taken care of.” The customer was contacted and said that there were defects in the merchandise and that the man hung up on him. He said he advised the man that he would contact his attorney and have him taken care of. Both parties advised that it was a civil issue and that they should go through their attorneys.
4:52 p.m. To Glen Haven Cemetery for a report of a woman lying on the ground. The deputy arrived to find Bethel Twp. EMS working on the woman. She appeared to be intoxicated, and said that she came to speak to her deceased father about unknown issues. She was transported to Huber Heights ER.
10:34 p.m. To Rawson Dr. for a report of an overdose. The deputy arrived to find a male subject on the floor not breathing. His mother said he overdosed on heroin and that paraphernalia was near him. Two doses of Narcan brought the subject around and he denied using heroin. A plastic baggie containing 5 heroin capsules were found on his person. Nearby were a syringe that appeared to have been used and had no substance in it. The subject was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center and the deputy took the evidence.

Thursday 4/7

12:34 a.m. To Prentice Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman, who was crying and obviously upset, stated that she was involved in an argument with her boyfriend, that he got aggressive, she was scared and called 911. She said he grabbed her and bit her on her ear. She also stated that she had used heroin a few hours ago. She was advised to have no more contact with her boyfriend and to seek help for her drug addiction.
12:34 p.m. To S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of a bad check. A man reported that a customer wrote a check for over $900 that was returned unpaid. He said that he has tried to contact her, but with no success. The deputy left a message for the customer to contact the Sheriff’s office.
7:36 p.m. To Aspen Rd. for an unresponsive female. The deputy arrived to find a woman unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Medics were able to get the woman to respond verbally. The woman’s sister said she might be using drugs and that she took her purse with her into the bathroom. Inside the purse was a burnt spoon with residue in the bowl. A syringe cap and a lighter were also in the purse. The evidence was collected to be submitted for analysis. The woman was transported to Huber Heights ER. Charges are pending lab results.
9:10 p.m. To Cliffside Dr. for a report of trespassers. A man reported that he and his wife had come to check on the unoccupied residence and found a former tenant intoxicated and sleeping on the floor. He said the tenant had been kicked out in June of 2015. He said he told the man to get out, and the man fled into the woods carrying a case of beer. The property owner was contacted and said that she wanted the former tenant arrested. Deputies searched the area but were unable to find him.

Friday 4/8

8:05 a.m. To Applewood and Spinning for a report of an accident. A driver turning from Applewood to Spinning struck a fire hydrant.
9:30 a.m. A woman came to the Bethel Twp. Fire house to report that someone threw a rock through a property that she was remodeling on Lakeshore Rd. There are no suspects.
7:30 p.m. Traffic stop on Lake at Church. The deputy smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and the driver gave him a bag of marijuana from his pocket. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
7:30 p.m. A man called to report that he went to pick up his children on Woodglen Ln. for visitation, but the mother refused to release them to him. He asked that the incident be documented.
8:22 p.m. To N. Pike St. for a report of an altercation. Deputies arrived to find a man and a woman outside the residence. The man said he had accidentally stepped on the woman’s injured foot earlier and that she was yelling at them. His roommate thought he had done it intentionally and an argument broke out, which escalated into a scuffle. He said they wrestled around and exchanged a few choice words, but that it was over. The roommate said that it was all a misunderstanding and that emotions got the best of everyone. All parties agreed that there would be no more issues.
10:33 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of a theft. A man reported that two guns were stolen from his residence. He said only a couple of people knew where the guns were and he identified possible suspects. He said he has several valuables, but only the guns were taken.

Saturday 4/9

7:36 a.m. To Gary Ct. for a report of an assault. A woman reported her husband accused her of cheating on him. She said he pushed her onto the bed, got on top of her and put a pocket knife to her throat and covered her mouth with his other hand. She said she bit his hand and called 911. She had a bruise on her lip and red marks on the right side of her face. The husband was located in Springfield and was taken into custody for felony domestic violence, assault and felonious assault. He had bite marks on his hand.
10:02 a.m. To Jackson St. for a possible gas leak. A man reported that a tenant had gone into the cellar and disconnected the water heater. Fire officials found no gas leak. The landlord said that the tenant is not allowed in the cellar and that she turned up the water heater so that it burned another tenant. He was advised that the other tenant would have to file that report, and without any proof that she went into the cellar, nothing could be done. The tenant was advised that if she went into the cellar, she could be charged.
11:10 a.m. A man came to the New Carlisle substation with a 2-3 year old child that he found on Church St. with no jacket on. While enroute to the substation, the deputy saw a woman yelling and crying. She said that she was looking for her daughter. She said that her niece was watching her and that she was missing. The deputy called the RP to meet at his location and return the child. The niece said that she had to go to the store and left the child with her 12-year-old daughter and made sure the doors were locked. She said that the child must have unlocked the door and walked outside. They were advised that toddlers need to be supervised at all times. 12:41 p.m. Traffic stop on Orth Dr. Two empty capped syringes were found in the vehicle. The driver said that they were not his and does not know what they would have been used for. They syringes were submitted into property to be destroyed.
1:00 p.m. To Whispering Wind Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that someone took one of her checks and cashed it for $235. She said a man who does work for her and her husband had asked for money. She said that he knows the code to enter the home. A 32” TV was also missing. Attempts to reach the worker were unsuccessful. She requested a report for her bank.
6:18 p.m. To Styer Dr. for a report of a man who appeared to be drunk sleeping in the lobby. The man was located and had about a dozen cans of beer with him. Two of the cans were empty. He was charged with disorderly conduct and given charges of criminal trespassing from a previous incident. Since he was homeless, he was taken to the Clark County Jail for his own safety. At the jail, he asked for help with his drinking problem.
7:45 p.m. To Brubaker Dr. for a report of theft. A man reported that he allowed a woman to use his vehicle but she never returned. Attempts to contact the woman were unsuccessful.

Miami County-Bethel Township

Thursday 4/1

10:14 a.m. Fraud reported in the 8700 block of S. State Route 201. An unknown subject ordered several boat propellers online and used a stolen credit card to pay. The items were shipped via DHL to London England. There were two shipments with one being stopped at customs in London. DHL and London police will attempt to track the suspect that signed for the first shipment.
1:14 p.m. Suspicious activity reported at Big Mike’s BP, 8561 S. State Route 201. Employee thought a fuel pump possibly had a skimmer inside of it. Deputy spoke with the Miami County Auditor Michael Davis who checked all of the fuel pumps. All pumps had a valid sticker and were not compromised. No skimmer was found. Davis did advise that a pump did have two wires that were unplugged inside the pump and possibly had been tampered with. If a skimmer had been hooked up, those two wires would have been used. That pump was placed out of service until maintenance personnel could clear the functionality of the pump. Davis also advised he would be checking the pump again.
8:18 p.m. Theft reported in the 8700 block of Bellefontaine Road. RP stated that at some point during the past week an unknown individual had stolen a Smith & Wesson P22 from her residence. RP had asked all family members and nobody knew the location of the gun. Deputy will search for the gun through the various resources available and will contact the RP.
10:32 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 6400 block of US Route 40. Deputies met with male and female who had been in a physical altercation. The female had visible scratches on her neck. She stated she had received them the day before from her stepfather when he attempted to remove her from the house. Female, identified as Robin Wells, said her boyfriend had brought pizza and beer home this evening and they were discussing their relationship and that is when it became physical. Wells said her boyfriend pushed her and she pushed him back. Deputies spoke to the male who confirmed Wells’ story regarding the pizza, beer and discussion. He stated she became upset and sucker punched him in the face and scratched his head. The male had injuries that supported this claim. He further stated he left the residence because he was uncertain what else she might do. The male confirmed Wells’ neck scratches came from her stepfather. Wells was informed she was being arrested prompting her to change her story regarding the neck scratches. She now wanted to blame her boyfriend, adding she didn’t want him to go to jail. When Wells was standing next to the cruiser she started to walk away from the deputy and screaming profanity at the boyfriend. A domestic violence packet was provided to the male. Wells was transported and incarcerated at the Miami County Jail for domestic violence.

Friday 4/2

12:21 p.m. Fraud reported in the 9700 block of Haskett Lane.
2:17 p.m. Theft not in progress reported 4100 block of US Route 40. RP reported last seeing his truck around noon when he took his lunch break in the vehicle. He noticed the vehicle missing at approximately 2:15 p.m. Vehicle is described as a red 1998 Chevrolet S10 single cab truck. RP advised the truck had tinted windows, black rims and black tool box in the bed of the truck. Inside the cab was a Nook Tablet, wallet, Stone Racing sweatshirt and the keys were in the ignition. Individuals at this location advised there had been a steady amount of traffic in and out of the building that day. The scene was photographed and a BOLO issued to Miami and adjacent counties. The vehicle was also entered into LEADS as stolen.

Tuesday 4/5

4:11 a.m. Disturbance reported in the 7700 block of Windham Drive
4:22 p.m. Unruly juvenile reported in the 6800 block of Walnut Street. Mom reported son was being extremely defiant, not listening to anything she told him to do and was getting verbal with her. She also stated that her son is currently on probation for unruly charges. Speaking with the juvenile, he understood why the deputy was there and said he didn’t know why he doesn’t listen to his mom. Mom decided she didn’t want to pursue charges, she only wanted him to listen and respect her. Deputy left a message for the juvenile’s probation office to advise of this situation.
