Shirley Seaman, age 80, of Rea Drive, plead guilty in Clark County Municipal Court to a charge of Vehicular Homicide. She was ordered to pay over $29,000 in restitution and was given a 2-year license suspension.

Seaman caused a fatal accident on May 7 on Medway-Carlisle Rd. at the entrance to the Country Haven Mobile Home park. Seaman was northbound on Medway-Carlisle and turned left into the path of a Ford Ranger driven by Karl Benge, age 28, of Holiday Valley. Benge was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The victim’s family was no more than a half mile behind him,” said Sgt. Jason Cadle of the Ohio Highway Patrol at the time of the accident. “I don’t know if they saw the accident, but they were among the first to arrive at the scene.”

Benge reportedly attempted to avoid the crash but was unsuccessful.  His truck landed on its side with parts and contents strewn across the road and grass.
