According to information from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, deputies accompanied the Clark County Dog Warden to the home located at 503 N. Church Street regarding the two dogs that were involved in an incident on the street recently.

The owner Adam Wisecup released the dogs to The Humane Society Serving Clark County. The New Carlisle News spoke with the staff and Interim Director Andy Heims regarding the release and the disposition of the animals.

Because the owner released the animals who were deemed to be “unadoptable” and the female was designated a “dangerous dog”, the animals had to be euthanized. Clark County Combined Health District requested that the animals be sent for additional testing required when anyone is bitten by a dog.

As reported previously anyone within the City Limits of New Carlisle cannot have more than three dogs on their property. Wisecup is known as a breeder and may have puppies on his property up to the age of four months.

The City of New Carlisle issued violations to Wisecup regarding keeping a “vicious dog” and the Clark County Dog Warden also issued citations for having a “dangerous dog”. City Manager Randy Bridge stated that Wisecup would need to remove both dogs from the city limits. The Ohio Revised Code sets out specifics on keeping a dangerous dog and apparently Wisecup elected not to have the female spayed and microchipped to comply.

Anyone in Clark County who has a dog must purchase a current dog license and provide rabies shots to all animals including cats. Wisecup was compliant with these guidelines at the time of the incident and was not cited regarding license or rabies vaccination.
