Two Accidents within an hour on Rt. 235 created a strain on local resources.
The first occurred around 8:00 Friday morning at Rt. 235 and Rt. 40.
Initial reports indicate that an eastbound Chevy pickup ran the red light and was struck by a southbound Dodge pickup.
Both trucks were towing trailers and the trailers became locked together.
An occupant of the Chevy was transported by Bethel squad and another individual was transported by New Carlisle squad. Both were suffering from undetermined injuries.
About a half hour later, there was a second crash in the 400 block of North Dayton-Lakeview Rd. (Rt. 235).
Involved were a Dodge Grand Caravan, a Nissan Versa and a red GMC Sonoma. All three were southbound.
According to witnesses, the Dodge had stopped to turn left into FYI and the Versa stopped behind it. The driver of the Sonoma was unable to stop, struck the Versa which, in turn, struck the Dodge.
Bethel Miami squad was called and transported the driver of the Sonoma to SOIN Medical Center in Beavercreek. Witnesses said that she was six months pregnant.
The driver of the Versa at first refused medical attention, but later said that he needed checked out.
This posed a problem for the Bethel Fire captain, so she asked Dispatch for “the closest staffed Medic.”
Both also suffered undetermined injuries.
Both accidents remain under investigation by the Ohio State Patrol and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
