New Carlisle Medics and Clark County Sheriff Deputies were called to the 200 block of Rawson Dr. around 6:45 Thursday evening for a report of a shooting.

The alleged shooter is reported to be 20-year-old Alex Boyer. The victim, 36-year-old Brian Perry of Huber Heights, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by New Carlisle medics and was reported to be coherent. His condition is unknown.

According to Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly, Perry went to Boyer's home on Rawson Dr. to find his estranged wife there with Boyer. Perry retreated to his car parked in the street and Boyer followed him. A confrontation then took place and Boyer produced a 9mm handgun and shot Perry in the chest. Perry was taken by squad to Miami Valley Hospital, was treated and released.

According to court records, Boyer admitted to investigators that he had shot Perry. Boyer has a previous felony conviction which prohibits him from possessing firearms.

A neighbor, who did not wish to be identified, said she heard what sounded like gunshots and looked outside to see a man wearing a grey shirt holding his chest yelling for help. She said he yelled, “He did it – he shot me.”

She said that Alex backed out of the house and immediately surrendered to the first deputy to arrive on the scene. He has been charged with Felonious Assault and having weapons while under disability and is in the Clark County Jail. He will appear in Municipal Court Friday (March 25) at 10:30 a.m.

Other neighbors reported that they could see how this would have happened. One told us that Alex was a “heathen” when he was younger. She said he was always arguing with his parents and once the deputies had to be called to make him go to school.

Several other neighbors described Alex as a troublemaker.

The incident is under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff's Department.
