A female driver may have suffered a medical condition and struck a utility pole in the 300 block of S. Main St.

A witness stated that he followed the woman from Park Layne and she was all over the road. “At one point, she was completely in the opposite lane and cars were going off the road to avoid hitting her,” he said. “I was on the phone with 911 when she hit.”

The witness stated that they were moving at 25-30 MPH when the crash occurred.

The woman was transported by squad to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

New Carlisle Fire Chief Steve Trusty said that DP&L has been notified, but, as of press time, had not responded with an ETA.

Trusty said that because of low hanging electric lines, he would have to keep Main St. closed until the pole was repaired or replaced.

The force of impact split the utility pole near the base. “It’s an old wood pole,” said Trusty. “They’ll have to replace it.”

The accident is under investigation by the Ohio State Patrol.
