Barger Brooklyn

Barger Honored as February’s Rotary Citizen

Senior Brooklyn Barger, daughter of Boyd and Becky Barger, was recently honored as the Citizen of the Month by the New Carlisle Rotary Club.
Barger is a member of National Honor Society, FFA, the high school’s volleyball and softball teams, and Tecumseh’s chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
She has been named a Scholar Athlete, has earned an academic letter, and was the recipient of the CBC Sportsmanship Award.
It was her recent work with FCCLA that prompted her nomination.  According to Jean Karn, Family & Consumer Sciences Instructor, Brooklyn and two other students spearheaded the organization’s fundraiser from beginning to end.  “As classroom president of the FCCLA chapter, she volunteered many hours after school creating a photo booth for the chapter’s fundraiser service project,” said Karn.  “She was also instrumental in selecting Impact Bethel, an organization that is working at making life better for members of our own community.  Brooklyn worked during her lunch time to ensure that students in all three lunch periods could have their pictures taken and participate in the service activity.”
“Brooklyn is a quiet leader whose influence helps other students make smarter choices,” added Karn.  “She models good behavior in every situation.”
