Local author, Janet Lee Robinson, knows a thing or two about friendship and how the changes in life can affect them. She has even written a book on the subject and will soon be available to talk with local readers about it personally.

A woman of strong faith, Robinson’s book, “Lord, Please Send Me a Friend: Discovering Friends and Friendships through the Eyes of God,” discusses the role God can play in helping one navigate the difficult matter of losing old friends and finding new ones throughout life’s many changes.

Readers interested in learning more about the book can meet Robinson in person at the New Carlisle Public Library on Feb. 11 when the library hosts a book reading and signing event from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Robinson says she was inspired to write, “Lord, Please Send Me a Friend (...),” several years ago when she found herself struggling through a “dark time” of wading through many changes in her personal life, causing her to begin the process of finding and making new friends.

Robinson explains that she successfully navigated that journey because God helped lead her through it.

“It was a difficult time for me... but I eventually realized if I wanted new friends, I was going to have to put myself out there. That is a very hard thing for a lot of people to do. I hope (my readers) find this book helpful (by) learning they are not alone and someone else has gone through the same thing...that God can help them get through the changes in life...”

In addition to authoring a book, Robinson has worked as an educator by working as an adjunct professor at both Edison Community College and Wright State University. She also has experience as a Kindergarten teacher at the First Baptist WEE (Weekday Early Education) School.

One of Robinson’s oldest and steadiest friends is her husband, Dale, to whom she has been married for forty years. They are also parents to two adult children.

Robinson says she looks forward to the upcoming book signing, especially getting the chance to meet her readers.

“Lord, Please Send Me a Friend: Discovering Friends and Friendships through the Eyes of God” will be available for purchase the day of Robinson’s book signing event. The book is already available for purchase in bookstores and online.
