A new face is at the helm of one of New Carlisle’s most unique businesses. Sarah Trimbach is the new owner of World Threads, an import boutique where customers can purchase clothes, accessories, home décor and Vietnamese artwork that come directly from artists around the world.

Formerly the manager at World Threads, Trimbach purchased the 15-year-old import business from long-time owners, Carolyn and John Brichacek, who are staying on in a mentoring capacity for the next year to help make the transition of the business’ ownership as smooth as possible for both Trimbach and World Threads’ customers.

Trimbach says her journey to business ownership was unexpected, but she is enthusiastic at the prospect of being able to join her loves of fashion and travel in order to bring fresh and exciting treasures to World Threads’ customers.

As a new business owner Trimbach says she has a lot of ideas to help expand the business’ inventory. She also hopes to one day be able to open up a second location so more people have access to the unique goods World Threads offers.

A New Carlisle native, Trimbach has been overseas multiple times and once lived in China for three months. But says she is especially thrilled at the opportunity to prepare for her first trip to Southeast Asia as a buyer for World Threads.

“I will be going to the fashion wholesale markets at Bangkok and Hong Kong to purchase World Threads’ distinctive clothing and inventory; (then) I will then be going to Vietnam to look for the beautiful handstitched “embroidery paintings” World Threads is known for.” The paintings are sold in the business’ upscale art gallery.

Trimbach explains that buying directly from the artisans not only ensures the artists receive a fair price for their goods; it keeps World Threads’ competitive with larger stores. Trimbach tells of a time she saw the same skirt World Threads carried for sale at a popular young adult clothing store.

“It was the very same skirt we carried at World Threads, and I was excited when I saw it cost (considerably) more at the bigger chain than it did here. It was a great example of how buying directly from the artisans gives our customers a better value than they would get otherwise.”

Trimbach says she will plans to continue the tradition started by World Threads’ previous owners of being a socially responsible importer, wholesaler, and retailer by continuing to donate a portion of the store’s profits to help support the Lak Paek Primary School in Laos.

World Threads offers a window to the world for its customers, and Trimbach says as its owner she looks forward to widening that window more and more for her customers in the years to come.
