The road to the state tournament began on Saturday for the Tecumseh girls’ basketball team, as they took their 19-3 record to Troy High School for a battle against Xenia, a team the Arrows destroyed by 50 points back in December. This one was much of the same.

The Arrows sprinted out to a 44-18 halftime lead, and despite struggling to score in the fourth period, Tecumseh moved onto the second round with a 66-36 victory over the Buccs.

“It was nice to get on the floor again after ten days off,” Tecumseh coach Danielle Thomas said, which seemed to be the norm this season with several teams. “It was good to get some confidence going.”

Lindsey Nartker showed why she is considered the top player in the Central Buckeye Conference with another solid 24-point performance, while leading four players in double figures. Corinne Thomas and Danielle Franklin each added 15 points in the win, with Presley Griffitts added 12 for the Arrows.

“This is the first time for our two freshman in this kind of state tournament game environment,” Thomas said.

Tecumseh played Fairmont last night for a chance to advance to the sectional championship game against likely Beavercreek, which would be Friday, 6:00 at Troy. If Beavercreek loses tonight against Troy, then the Arrows would play the Trojans, likely at Wayne High School on Friday.
