The Tecumseh Arrows Swimming competed on Wednesday, January 27, at the Trotwood Madison Natatorium, and joined with the other competing teams to recognize graduating seniors. The Arrows Swim Team has four seniors on the roster this year: Libby Foland, Morgan Shaner, Owen Measel and Yajaira Ramirez. Each of the athletes was recognized as Coach Tom Stafford shared a few words.

Libby Foland was escorted by parents Lisa and Bobby Foland and her brother. She has been swimming for the Arrows all four years at THS. Besides swimming, Libby has played tennis, participates in Young Life and is involved in 4H. She’s planning on attending college to study business and become a veterinarian technician.

Morgan Shaner was escorted by parents Melisa and Mike Shaner. She has been swimming for the Arrows all four years at THS and starting swimming competitively since elementary. Morgan is attending Union College in Kentucky and will be studying Early Childhood Education and continuing her swimming career on the Bulldog team.

Owen Measel was escorted by parents Nickie and Shawn Measel. Owen has also been on the Arrow swim team for his four years at THS. Like Morgan, Owen started swimming competitively at a young age swimming on the Tecumseh YMCA Tidal Waves and then moving to the Dayton Raiders Swim Team for the past six years. Owen will be attending Wright State University and will continue his swim career as a Raider starting in the fall. He’ll be studying exercise science and kinesiology.

Yajaira Ramirez was escorted by her mother Blanca and her brother. This was Yajaira’s first year swimming, and she has added it to one of her favorite past times. She plans to attend college and study to become a nurse anesthesiologist. She would also like to move to Spain and enjoy a full life in that beautiful country.

Besides recognizing the seniors, the Arrows continued their strong season at the Trotwood Madison Natatorium. The team finished second behind Brookville and had several strong performances through the evening. Several top finishes for the evening included: First place finishes in the 200 Women’s Medley Relay, 200 Women’s Freestyle Relay, and Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay and Men’s 400 Freestyle Relay, Hannah Peck (JR) in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle races, Owen Measel in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Freestyle, Julia Randenburg (FR) in the 100 Butterfly, Morgan Shaner in the 500 Freestyle. The team also has several strong swimmers with second and third place finishes.
