IMG 7176Tecumseh’s offense gave coach Roger Culbertson 72 points in their non-conference game against Springfield last week, which for this team would normally translate into a victory. But against the high-flying Wildcats, it was a tough loss.

The Arrows fell behind by nearly 20 points at the half, and could never recover as they lost to Springfield 92-72 in a game played in Springfield.

“We lost our poise early in the game late in the first quarter, and they took advantage of that,” said Tecumseh coach Roger Culbertson. “They took a big lead at halftime.” The Arrows only trailed by six at the end of the first quarter, but was outscored 25-12 in the second period, to fall behind 51-32 at the break.

“In the second half, we played even with them the rest of the way,” Culbertson said. “We have to play four quarters of basketball. This was not our best defensive effort, they had too many easy shots, plus we didn’t take care of the ball.”

Donte Clark led the way for the Arrows with 31 points, and Darius Quisenberry added 24 in the loss.

“Donte played well, he did what he had to do offensively,” Culbertson said. “Darius also did a good job getting to the line (10-10). They all played better in the second half. We just need to have more consistency from everyone.”

* Tecumseh returned to the court on Friday night, hosting second place Bellefontaine in a huge CBC Kenton Trail Division game, and fell to the chiefs 64-57, sending the Arrows into a tie with the Chiefs and Shawnee Braves in the KTD.

Tecumseh opened the game strong, enjoying an 18-14 lead after the opening period, and maintained their four point lead at the half.

In the second half, Bellefontaine put together a solid third period, outscoring the Arrows by eight points to take a slim 47-43 lead heading into the fourth quarter of play.

The Arrows could not overcome a strong period for the Chiefs, as they fell short of defeating the Chiefs, and lost their sole lead in the division.

Darius Quisenberry led the way for the Arrows with 25 points and four steals. Also scoring double figures for the Arrows was Malik Quisenberry with 14 points and five rebounds, and Donte Clark added nine points.

Friday night, the Arrows start the second half of the CBC as they host Shawnee.
