Tecumseh coach Mark Holbrook knew it would likely come down to his Arrows squad and a very talented Bellefontaine team for the CBC girls’ track team title. He couldn’t have been more correct.

The Arrows scored 119 points thanks to several strong finishes to edge Bellefontaine by four points to capture the Kenton Trail Division championship last Friday at Tecumseh High School.

Northwestern also placed third in the Mad River with Greenon fourth for the girls. In the boys’ race, Northwestern finished second in the Mad River with Greenon third. The Arrows placed third in the Kenton Trail Division.

The highlight for the Arrows was their 4x1 girls’ relay team of Dennis, Beel, Diller and Hassell, as they not only won the CBC and Kenton Trail Division title with a 51.23, but their time set a new CBC record.

The 4x8 relay started the championship day, with Tecumseh finishing third in the KTC, with Northwestern third in the MR. The Warriors did capture the boys’ 4x8 relay, as Smith, Prack, Wells and Cleland won with a time of 8:27.62. Tecumseh placed fourth in the KT.

In the girls’ 100 hurdles, Audrey Diller won the KT Division with a 17.21, placing second overall in the CBC. Teammate Alina Blunk was third in the division, while Amanda Church of Northwestern was third in the MR Division. The boys’ race saw Tecumseh senior Ross Warren place second in the KT with a time of 15.57.

Taylor Lewis of Northwestern finished second in the MR in the 100 dash, with Tecumseh freshman Jaci Rife finished the 100 third overall in the KT Division. Her teammate Jasmine Hassell was fourth.

Tecumseh’s Kenyon Watson (KTD, 11.41) and Eli Berner (MRD) both finished fourth in the 100.

The girls’ 4x2 relay team from Tecumseh consisting of Marquette, Diller, Dennis and Beel won the overall women’ event with a 1:50.51, while the Greenon group of Cramblett, Benedict, Benedict and Woolverton captured the Mad River division with a 1:51.84.

Greenon also finished second in the boys’ race, as the group of Brown, Glover, Swope and Thorne finished second in their division while Tecumseh was third.

In the girls’ 400, Greenon freshman Delaney Benedict won the overall title which included the MR Division with a 57.93, while Rife was third in the KT and Marquette fourth. Kenyon Watson was second in the mens’ race with a 50.68.

Kassidy Carpenter, a freshman at Northwestern, captured the Mad River Division title in the 1600 run, as she ran 5:49.40. Tecumseh’s Brooke Hoffman was second in the KT, while teammate Kylee Mastin placed third as did Northwestern’s Jenna Cleland in the MR Division

Ryan Cleland shined in the boys’ 1600, as the Northwestern senior won the overall event with a 4:31.21, with his teammate Prack finishing second in the division, along with Tecumseh’s Garrett Gemaka who was second in the KT.

The 300 hurdles saw Diller from Tecumseh place second in the KT Division with a 49.60, with teammate Ceria Goin finishing fourth. Kaylynn Woolverton from Greenon was third overall in the MR Division with a 53.41. Warren was third in the KT Division as he ran 41.28 for the Arrows, and Andrew Reisinger from Northwestern placed fourth in the MR.

Tecumseh’s Kylee Mastin, only a freshman, won the 800 meter run with a 2:25.22 to not only win the KT Division but the entire CBC. Emily Funderburg was third in the MR Division.

Prack stepped up again in the 800 boys race, capturing the division title for the Warriors running a 2:01.32, while his teammate Cleland was third. In the KT Division, Trent Studebaker from Tecumseh was second overall.

Rice from Tecumseh and Cramblett from Greenon were third in the 200 meter dash in their divisions, while Derek Brown from Greenon won the boys’ race in 23.61.

In the 3200 run, Carpenter again stepped up with a 12:38.20 to win the MR Division for the Warriors, with her teammate Abbie Grieser placing second. Brooke Hoffman from Tecumseh was third in the CBC.

Greenon’s Max Pettit dominated the 3200 boys’ race by winning the MR Division and overall title with a 10:00.91. Prack was second in the division.

Finally in the 4x4, Greenon won the MR Division title with their team of Benedict, Benedict, Cramblett and Woolverton, finishing with a time of 4:18.62. Tecumseh also finished second in their division with a 4:21.88. The final running event was the 4x4 boys race, as Tecumseh was second at 3:36.83.

*In the field events, Jasmine Hassell was second in the KT Division at 4-8, while Northwestern’s freshman Stephanie White was second in her division as well.

The men’s long jump had Derek Brown win the MR Division with a 19-7.5. Northwestern’s Blake Jamison finished as the MR Division runner-up in the discus with 150-4, with Greenon’s Ty Rickmon right behind him. Kyle Holt was third in the KT Division for Tecumseh.

Finishing second in the MR Division in the shot was Keri Kertesz with a toss of 30-6.75, while third was Macy Berner of Tecumseh and Allie Henderson from Greenon.

DJ Johnston from Tecumseh won the Kenton Trail Division of the pole vault with 11-6, and his teammate Simon Hebrert was third. Greenon’s Cameron Algren was also third in the MR Division.

The men’s high jump saw Northwestern’s Landon Burns place second with 6-2, while in the girls’ long jump, Rife from Tecumseh was runner-up with 16-7.25 and Hassell third at 16-6.25.

In the girls’ discus, finishing as runner-up from the KT Division was Aurora Miller of Tecumseh (103-11) and Kertesz from Greenon in the MR Division (86-1).

Jamison placed third in the shot put with a toss of 47-1, while in the pole vault, Tecumseh’s Faith Legg was third at 8-0.
