It’s amazing how fast a basketball game can change, almost in the blink of an eye.

The Greenon Knights exploded out to a quick seven-point lead in the first two minutes of their CBC matchup last week against Tecumseh, as both teams were trying to earn this crossover victory.

Just that quick, the Arrows ran off seven points of their own in two minutes to tie the game, and set up what turned out to be a hard-fought 66-54 win for Tecumseh as the regular season begins to come to a close.

With the win, the Arrows saw their record improve to 5-14 overall on the season, while the Knights fell to 2-17 overall with the loss.

Greenon came out on fire, as Owen Leathley and Riley Williams each hit midrange jumpers, and a long three from Jake Richards put the host Knights in front 7-0, but the Arrows used the three-point shot to quickly get back into the game. Clay Mastin and Michael Green connected on the long range shots.

Richards and Green traded three’s before Ross Warren scored in the paint, giving the Arrows their first lead of the game at 12-10 with two minutes left in the first period.

The three’s were reigning big again in the second, as four consecutive were dropped to put the Arrows lead out to 27-20, but Richards again buried a three with 2:14 left in the half, cutting the Tecumseh lead to 29-25.

Tecumseh led 32-25 at the half, but the Knights stayed close through the second half. A layup from Bogie with 4:26 left in the third pushed their lead out to 38-31 for the Arrows, and they took it to eight points with 2:42 left but the Knights charged back with four free throws, to cut the deficit to 42-38 before Mastin connected on a free throw to push the lead to five heading to the fourth.

The Arrows controlled the fourth with a seven-point margin in the final period, and iced the win in the fourth period.

Tecumseh was led in scoring by Mastin with a team high 20 points and eight assists, while Warren added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Green scored 11 points for the Arrows. Sarihan contributed nine points in the win, while Brett Bogie was a perfect 4-4 from the field for eight points.

Greenon saw Richards score a game-high 27 points including throwing in seven three-pointers, with Flanegin scoring seven points with nine rebounds and both Swope and Williams each added six.

Tecumseh returns to action this week in the regular season finale at Bellefontaine on Friday night, while Greenon is at Kenton Ridge on Saturday night.
