The Tecumseh Arrows football team hosted the Urbana Hillclimbers for the final home game of their season. Tecumseh had everything working on Friday evening as they put forth a strong defensive effort to go along with their playmaking quarterback which proved too much for the Hillclimbers to handle. The Arrows substitute quarterback Brody Martin had himself a sensational evening as he rushed for two offensive scores, threw one touchdown, as well as intercepted a pass for a touchdown on defense as Tecumseh went on to win 28-7.

Very early in the contest the Hillclimbers scored first after they returned the opening kickoff deep into Tecumseh territory. Urbana’s Isaiah Fonseca rushed into the end zone from two yards out to give the Hillclimbers a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.

Quarterback Brody Martin lead the Arrows on their first offensive possession, converting two fourth downs and sailing a perfectly placed 16 yard touchdown pass to receiver Ryan Rowland that tied the score at 7 each after James Gray converted the extra point. The Arrows then recovered a muffed punt as Caleb Edwards jumped on the loose ball to set up the next Tecumseh scoring drive.

The Arrows used dueling quarterbacks and substituted Martin for the 240 pound Jayden McFarland who delivered punishing runs against the Urbana defense. With McFarland and Martin both able to pass along with being rushing threats, the Hillclimbers defense was overmatched much of the game. Brody Martin scored his first rushing touchdown with a 14 yard run that gave the Arrows a 14-7 lead going into halftime.

The defensive unit as a whole for Tecumseh was excellent. Swarming to the ball carrier and breaking up pass attempts all evening, the Hillclimbers were unable to gain any momentum offensively and were unable to score after their first drive.

On the first play from scrimmage in the second half, the Arrows quarterback Caleb Edwards rushed for a 61 yard touchdown that was called back for a clipping penalty. Later in the drive Edwards ran for his second touchdown of the evening, and this time it counted. Gray added the extra point to give the Arrows a 21-7 lead in the third quarter.

Tecumseh defenders Hunter Hensley, Donovan Davis, Caleb Edwards, Devin Altop, Clay Mastin, Tyler Cory, and a host of others all had an impactful night on the defensive side of the ball for the Arrows. In the fourth quarter, Tecumseh quarterback Brody Martin had an interception return for a touchdown while playing on defense. Pushing the score to 28-7 and accounting for each of the Arrows touchdowns on the evening, Martin’s interception sealed up the victory for Tecumseh.

The Arrows will next travel to play Kenton Ridge this Friday.
