The Tecumseh Arrows boys’ basketball team heads into the final week of the regular season focused on one thing, capturing the Central Buckeye Conference championship. They trail the first place Shawnee Braves by one game, and when the league play closes out on Friday, they will know their fate.

Shawnee has one league loss, and hosts Tippecanoe Friday night, while the Arrows are at Bellefontaine the same night. A win by the Arrows and an upset for Tipp over Shawnee gives the Arrows a co-championship for the league title.

Last week, the Arrows won a pair of games, including an 87-48 rout of Northwestern, followed up by a 74-66 win over Stebbins.

Against Northwestern, the Arrows left no doubt early as to the outcome, scoring 31 points in the opening period of play, and led by 19 after the first eight minutes. They stretched their lead out to 49-21 at the break, and never looked back.

Malik Quisenberry led the charge with a game high 26 points for the Arrows, one of four players in double figures. Quisenberry also had a team high six rebounds.

Also scoring double figures for Tecumseh were Donte Clark with 17, Darius Quisenberry scored 15 and Esai Allen added 11. Tecumseh shot 53 percent from the field in building their lead, and held Northwestern to only seven points in the fourth quarter heading to the win.

The Arrows came back and defeated an improved Stebbins team 74-66 on Friday, thanks to a big second quarter.

After trailing by three heading to the second period, the Arrows dropped 29 points on the Indians in the second period, and took a 44-36 lead into the half. The teams played even in the second half, as the Arrows hit their free throws and went on to the league win.

Darius Quisenberry led the Arrows with 21 points, while Clark added 17 and Malik Quisenberry scored 14. Conner Henry added nine for the Arrows in the win.

Tecumseh Girls Basketball- The Tecumseh girls’ basketball team wrapped up the regular season last week with a 79-53 win over Bellefontaine, to finish the regular season 16-6 overall, including a third place finish in the Central Buckeye Conference’s Kenton Trail Division.

The Arrows exploded out to a fast 23-6 lead after the opening period against the Chiefs, and never looked back.

Danielle Franklin led the way for the Arrows with 28 points, and Lindsey Nartker added 23 for Tecumseh. Ali Lee poured in 12 points for Tecumseh. It was a game that honored the seniors for the Arrows Aby Studebaker, Jordan Bair, Kelsi Garber and Lee.

The Arrows now look ahead to the sectional basketball tournament, as they travel to Wayne High School this Saturday for a 3:30 game against Troy.
