Tecumseh needed a miracle on Friday night, trailing host Kenton Ridge by 14 points headed to the final quarter and was outplayed for three quarters. Then, it happened.

The Arrows exploded for 21 points in the final period of play to send the game to overtime, and used a strong extra period to escape with a 68-61 overtime victory over the Cougars to remain only one game behind the leaders in the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division.

It was the two headed monster of freshman Darius Quisenberry scoring 29 points and senior Donte Clark, who poured in 28 to score nearly all of the Arrow points.

Quisenberry scored some key baskets late for the Arrows to get the game to overtime, as the Arrows won their ninth game of the year, while going to 5-2 in the conference. They remain behind Shawnee who is 6-1, after they knocked off Bellefontaine, dropping them into a tie with the Arrows for second in the league.

Earlier in the week, the Arrows turned the offense up on Graham, behind a big second half leading them to an 84-51 victory over the Falcons, coached by former Tecumseh girls’ basketball coach and teacher Mike Smart.

Tecumseh led 36-25 at the half, but poured it on in the second half, scoring 48 points and pulling away. Malik Quisenberry led the way for the Arrows with a game high 19 points while Clark added 18 and Conner Henry scored 10.

*Tecumseh hosted Butler last night, and hosts Tippecanoe on Friday night.

Tecumseh Girls Basketball- Tecumseh defeated Graham 77-44 last week, after leading 44-21 at the half.  Lindsey Nartker led the way for the Arrows with 22 points, followed by Allison Berner with 15, Caroline Smith 13 and Danielle Franklin pitching in 11 in the balanced attack.

On Wednesday, the Arrows traveled to Northwestern for a crossover CBC contest, and used a big second quarter to put the out of reach, cruising to a 66-48 victory.

Franklin lit up the Warriors for 30 points in the win, while Nartker added 16.

On Saturday, the Arrows traveled to Tippecanoe and gave the undefeated Red Devils all they wanted in the first half. They only trailed by seven at the break, before Tipp pulled away in the second half for a 73-53 victory to clinch at least a share of the CBC.

The Arrows jumped on Tipp early leading 4-0 in the opening three minutes before the Red Devils put together an 8-0 run led by Carly Clodfelter to take the lead.

Tecumsrh’s Ali Lee and Lindsey Nartker kept the Arrows in the game with solid inside play late in the first quarter as they only trailed by two, but Clodfelter and Halee Printz capped the first quarter with a 4-0 run in the closing seconds to give Tipp a 14-8 lead.

Tipp increased their lead to 11 early in the second, but a 6-0 Tecumseh run again closed the gap.

In the second half, the Arrows trailed 32-26 when Tipp put together a key 12-2 run, highlighted by five quick points from Printz and a big three from the top of the key from Kelsey Wertz, and Tipp pushed their lead to 44-28.

That turned out to be the key part of the game, as Tecumseh could never close the gap from there. Tipp held a 26 point lead in the final three minutes after Sammie Rowland scored five quick points, and the Arrows ended the game on a 8-2 run in the final 2:42 to make the final margin 20.

Printz led Tipp with 21 points, while Clodfelter added 20. For Tecumseh, Lindsey Nartker scored a game high 23 points.

*Tecumseh played at Carroll after deadline earlier this week, and they come back tonight and play at Stebbins tonight, and Greenon on Saturday night.
