It was a solid start for the Troy Christian baseball team on Friday, as they put two quick runs on the board against Northwestern on a cold, blustery day in Springfield.

Starting his third year at the helm of the Northwestern baseball team, coach Todd Houseman knows that an improvement has to be made from last year’s 12-18 season.

Coach Missy Johnson knows one thing for sure.

Northwestern had just missed two point-blank shots at the rim in the closing seconds that would have likely iced the victory in regulation.

For the seven seniors on the Tippecanoe roster, it was icing on the cake in what was one of the biggest turnarounds in area boys’ basketball history.

It was a grueling 32 minutes of basketball for both teams.

Speedway New Carlisle will no longer be known as the town with two Speedways come February 12.
