It was a grueling 32 minutes of basketball for both teams. Tecumseh came in as no worse than co-champs of the CBC Kenton Trail Division, and Northwestern was slightly below .500. But on this night, it was a battle to the final buzzer.

Darius Quisenberry scored a game-high 32 points, while Malik Quisenberry added 23 as the Arrows survived 66-63 to run their record to 16-3 on the season. Northwestern fell to 7-11 on the year. Ellis Ullery scored 14 points to lead the Warriors, with Kurt Waters and Ryan Cleland each scoring 13.

Both teams came out firing in the first minutes of the game, as both teams exchanged three’s and Northwestern led 5-3 in the opening two minutes. Another Warriors three began a 5-0 run before Darius Quisenberry broke the streak with his own three.

Northwestern then reeled off six straight points including scores from Waters and a pair of free throws from Cleland to increase their lead to 16-9 with 2:10 left in the opening quarter.

From there, it was all Tecumseh for the final two minutes. Brody Martin hit consecutive three’s from the corner to cut the deficit to one, then with 15 seconds left Darius Quisenberrys power layup and foul gave him a three point play, to put the Arrows in front 18-16 after one.

Northwestern took the lead again to start the second, and for the first half of the second period, they would not relinquish it. Derek Whip and Waters gave them the lead, and the Warriors pushed it to five points when Cleland hit a pair of free throws with 6:10 left in the quarter.

Holding onto a 27-23 lead, the Arrows went to work. Malik Quisenberry began the run with a three, and added another with 3:28 left in the quarter to give Tecumseh a 34-28 lead.

Tecumseh closed out the half on a 20-5 run over the final four minutes of the second quarter with all 20 points coming from the Quisenberrys, turning their four point deficit into a 43-32 lead at the half.

* Tecumseh wrapped up the CBC championship on Friday night, as they defeated Stebbins 59-49. It was their first conference title since 2010. Both Darius and Malik Quisenberry scored 20 points to lead Tecumseh to the win.

*Also on Friday, Northwestern lost a tough 84-77 decision to Indian Lake, despite scoring 30 points in the fourth quarter.

Indian Lake led 44-36 at the half, and the high-scoring affair saw the Warriors outscore the Lakers by one in the second half.

Waters led the charge with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Cleland added 13, Evan Noffkee and Ullery each scored 10.

Tecumseh hosts Bellefontaine on Friday in their last regular season game, while Northwestern hosts Benjamin Logan on Friday, before playing at Tippecanoe on Saturday night.
