Bethel runner up 3 9The Bethel Bees season ends with a 60-35 loss to Cincinnati Purcell Marian Cavaliers in the OHSAA Southwest District Division III Finals Wednesday evening at the University of Dayton Arena.

By now, everyone in the Cross County Conference, and for that matter everyone in the Dayton area, knows about Caleb South.

Just two weeks ago, the Stivers boys’ basketball team earned a convincing 20-point win over the Bethel Bees.

For three quarters, Bethel looked prime for a big win on senior night.

There is nothing more exciting than small-town basketball.

It was a tale of two halves for the Bethel girls’ basketball team.

It has been a while since Bethel has won double figure games during a girls’ basketball season.

DSC 0253The Bethel Bees now move into third place in the Cross Country Conference with Friday night’s win over Covington Buccs 53-45.

This one really bothered coach Mark Mays.

Bethel opened up a close game in the first half, and had no trouble defeating Troy Christian 59-30 in a non-conference matchup last week in Tipp City.

Caleb South scored 24 points to lead three players in double figures, as the Bethel Bees boys’ basketball team won their fourth consecutive game to start the season, with a 64-52 victory over Greeneview.

While the Bethel girls’ basketball team has already won four games this season, and enjoys a winning record after seven games, there is still a lot of work to do, as shown Thursday night in a 66-25 loss to league leading Tri-Village.
