The Bethel boys’ basketball team split a pair of game last week in the Cross County Conference, earning a big 66-36 win over Tri County North, before falling in a tough road game at National Trail 53-49.

Against North, the Bees jumped out to a 34-11 lead at the half, and cruised to the win.

“Our kids came out prepared and played good defense with pressure and capitalized with turnovers,” said Bethel coach Eric Glover. “We also executed the offense well early in the game.”

Caleb South led the way for the Bees with 17 points, while Josh Wills added 13, Evan Hawthorne scored 10 and Julian Brooks eight.

“Our bench did a nice job extending the lead in the second half,” Glover added. “It is really important to get the young kids some quality time when we can to be ready to take the big step next year.”

On Friday against National Trail, Bethel played well in the first quarter, but fell apart in the third period.

“We came out flat ad didn’t play our style of basketball,” Glover said. “We played better in the second, but they hit a couple of threes  to open the third, and we never recovered from there.”

South led Bethel with 17 points, Hawthorne added 13.

Bethel returns to the court on Friday hosting Miami East in a crucial CCC game.
