Tippecanoe swept both the boys and girls championships at the Tippecanoe Invitational on Saturday night at the Troy YMCA. With the Red Devil boys team edged their neighbors from Bethel by five points to win the title, the girls had a more convincing 210 points, nearly 100 more than second place Shawnee. Bethel girls were third, while both the Greenon boys and girls teams finished fourth overall in the meet.

The 200 medley relay team led off the day for the girls, and the Tippecanoe team of Arielle Arnett, Kirsten Bell, Samantha Williams and Bailey Cahill captured the title with a time of 2:01.02. The Tipp team of Adrienne Crusey, Carsyn Woltz, Cara Kronour and Enya Gernon placed third, while Bethel finished fourth with the team of Sammi Labosky, Helen Kahler, Eiliana Wright and Maggie Kahler.

In the boys event, Tipp again claimed the title, as Jay Bell, Michael Taylor, Adam Buynak and Harrison Miller finished with a time of 1:52.61, comfortably ahead of their closest competitors. Bethel placed third with Conner Whelan, Harold Kahler, Ben Wright and Riley Shaffer.

Cameron Cahill won the girls 200 free with a 2:18.99, followed by Woltz (third), Anna Klepinger (fourth) and Emily Doll (fifth). Greenon freshman Gwen Brittingham placed sixth overall.

Taylor came through for the Tipp boys in the 200 free, with a 2:16.07, while Hill was second, and Bethel’s Zach Moore placed fourth. Brian Pencil of Bethel fifth, and Greenon’s Blaine Butterworth finishing sixth.

In the girls 200 IM, Arnett came through for Tipp with a time of 2:21.44, edging out teammate Williams for the title. Bethel’s Wright was third. For the boys, Wright from Bethel was the highest local finisher with a second place time of 2:14.39.

The girls’ 50 Free was won by Bailey Cahill, as the Tipp senior swam a 27.23. Alissa Buynak from Tipp was second and Doll third, as Tipp took home the top seven places. For the boys, Tipp claimed the top three spots, led by winner Bell at 22.82, followed by Mitchell Poynter and Spencer Thomas.

Bailey Cahill came back and won the girls 100 Butterfly, swimming a 1:01.17, while teammate Arnett was second and Cameron Cahill third.

Buynak placed third in the boys 100 Butterfly, with Bethel’s Kahler placing fourth.

The girls’ 100 free saw a lot of local success, as Bell claimed the win with a time of 1:01.55, Gernon was second, Klepinger third, while Ally Chitwood was fifth for Tipp. In the boys event, Tipp’s Evan Stapp won with a time of 53.22, Ben Jans from Tipp was second, while the highest Bethel finisher was Shaffer (sixth) and Greenon Noah Stasiak (11th).

Kayla Bruns, a Tippecanoe sophomore finished first in the 500 Free (6:44.10), while teammates Sydney Menser (third), Lauren Handley (fourth) and Cara Kronour (fifth) while Bethel’s Kahler was sixth.

Bethel’s Ben Wright took home the win in the 500 Free, with a time of 5:24.51, while teammate Pencil was fourth.

Tippecanoe won both the girls and boys 200 Free relay. For the girls, the team of Bell, Cameron Cahill, Gernon and Woltz swam a time of 1:57.65, while Bethel placed third (Kahler, Kahler, Labosky and Wright). For the boys, Tipp (Tayloe, Buynak, Stapp, Bell) swam a 1:37.44, while Bethel was third (Zach McCarroll, Conner Whelan, Brad McCarroll and Pencil).

Williams won the girls’ 100 Backstroke, with Buynak third, Garber fifth and Crusey sixth. Greenon took the next three places, with Rachel Ruff (seventh), Brittingham (eighth) and Cheyanne Caswell (ninth). In the boys’ race, Buynak won, followed by Miller, with the Bethel duo of Whelan and McCarroll fourth and fifth.

The final result came in the 100 Breaststroke, as Bell was second in the girls’ race, followed by Tipp teammates Woltz, Enya Gernon and Alannah Gernon. For the boys’, Bethel took home the win with a time of 4:09.86 (Kahler, Zach Moore, Shaffer, Wright) with Tipp finishing second (Hill, Poynter, Ethan Sinning, Ben Jans).
