Caleb South earned the CCC Player of the Year and first-team all Southwest District

He has already been compared to the best players to come through the halls of Bethel High School. Now, South is starting to accumulate the bigger honors.

South, who averaged 25 points per game and led the Bees to the undisputed Cross County Conference championship with an unbeaten league record, was named the conference Player of the Year as voted on by coaches.

Also named as the conference Coach of the Year was Bethel’s Brett Kopp.

South was joined on the first-team by junior teammate Ryan Rose.

Also named to the first team was Hunter Muir from Ansonia, Logan West of Miami East, Ethan Bowman of Mississinawa Valley, Trace Couch and Gavin Richards from Tri Village, Nathan Blei from Covington, Ethan Conley from Franklin Monroe and Mike Meyers of Twin Valley South.

Named to the second team was Bethel’s Tyler Terry, along with Devyn Sink of Ansonia, Mason Conley of Franklin Monroe, Brandon Kinney and Wade Meeks from Arcanum, Peyton Harrison and Dalton Mason of National Trail, Ryan Mollette of Newton, Trevor Miller of Covington and Travis Lovely of Twin Valley South.

Honorable mention from the Bees was Ian Anderson.

*From the Bethel girls’ team, the Bees placed two players on the all-conference team. Junior Alaina Hawthorn was selected to the second- team in the CCC, while senior Becky Schwieterman was named to the honorable mention.

The first team was made up of Stevie Johnting of Arcanum, Kelsie Hunt of Mississinawa Valley, Mandi Bates from Bradford, Tatum McBride of Newton, Sammi Whiteman from Covington, Aubrey Stupp of Tri County North, Corina Conley from Franklin Monroe, Allie Downing and Danika Mann from Tri Village and Haley Howard from Miami East.

Downing was selected as the Player of the Year in the league, and Abbey Moore from Franklin Monroe was named as the Coach of the Year.

Joining Hawthorn on the second-team was Trinity Howard from Ansonia, Bailey Miller from Miami East, Gracie Garno from Arcanum, Makena Laird of National Trail, Elizabeth Carroll from Newton, Jordan Crowell from Covington, Audrey Cable of Franklin Monroe, and the duo of Rachel Miller and Emma Printz from Tri-Village.
