Bethel survived a late comeback attempt from Dayton Christian on Friday to move their record to 3-0 on the season. Now comes the meat of their schedule.

As the Bees knocked off Dayton Christian 22-15 last week, they now get to face three of the Cross County Conference’s powerhouse teams, as they head to Covington, host Tri County North and head to Miami East in the next three weeks.

“We put ourselves in position to make the end of the season mean something,” Bethel coach Scott Clodfelter said of his teams’ fast start. “We are fighting injuries and don’t have a lot of depth.”

After watching DC score first on Friday night, the Bees fought back on an 85-yard run by Nate Rimkus setting up their first score of the game. Rimkus then scored from one yard out, tying the game at seven.

A long pass to Alex Allen in the second quarter in the closing seconds set up another Rimkus touchdown run as the Bees took a 14-7 lead at the half.

Jared Evans scored in the third to give the Bees a 22-7 lead and DC ended the scoring late in the game.

“We are happy to be 3-0, but a few years ago we were 3-0 but ended 3-7,” Clodfelter said. “We have to take it one game at a time, and that is Covington. East and North are coming up, but we need to get a signature win.”
