For Grace Anthony, she is already one step ahead of her competition.

The Bethel softball standout completed her first year with the Bees, and while she grew up playing four sports, the talented athlete did something that most freshmen at Bethel haven’t done on the diamond.

She was named to the all-conference team.

“I had a lot of highlights during my first high school softball season,” Anthony said. “I loved the fact that we were more than just a team. This year we were a family. We played the game as a family and that is what helped make us successful. Without that bond, the season would have been different.”

Anthony has played soccer, basketball, softball and even swam last season. She takes pride in all of her sports, and focused on being like a role model she looked up to.

“I just got interested in all of the sports when I was little and I just stuck with them,” she said. “My sister was my influence mostly, growing up I wanted to be just like her.”

“I have been playing select softball since I was nine years old. I have had good coaching and a great hitting coach.”

While she was honored as one of the top softball players in the Cross County Conference, she knows that improvement is very important to her growth in the sport.

“I have done a lot of things to work on my game,” she said. “I am working on all aspects of the game, including the mental side. I want to be the best I can be not only to improve my game, but contribute to my teams’ success.”

Anthony lettered last season in both softball and soccer earning a letter in both sports, and she already has her eyes on playing softball down the road at the next level.

“My dream would be to be able to play softball at the University of Tennessee, or at least some level of college ball, and possible take it to the pro level,” Anthony said.

In addition to playing sports, Anthony is involved in the band and choir, along with Bethel’s Leadership Team.

She wants to major in medicine to become some type of physician.
