Michael “Mike” Anthony Bahun, age 65, passed away unexpectedly in his Kettering, Ohio, home on Monday, July 25, 2016. He was born in Dayton on May 20, 1951, the son of Frank and Lavada (Harding) Bahun who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rudy, and his favorite mother-in-law, Dorothy A. Ondo. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Vivian R. (Ondo); son, Michael T. and daughter-in-law, Jennifer L. (Coleman); and cherished grandson, Jack T. He is also survived by his brothers, Doug and John (Anna)Bahun; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Skip) Vanderhorst; Trish (Mike) Young; and Michael Ondo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was a graduate of Tecumseh High School and formerly served as a Clark County Deputy Sheriff and elected Councilman for the City of Kettering. Most recently, he sat on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals. After “flunking” retirement from General Motors Truck and Bus Moraine, he worked at Five Rivers MetroParks, Trinity Retirement Community, and, most recently, Cabela’s. He will be remembered for his passion for fishing, appreciation of good bourbon, affinity for Labrador retrievers, and his strong love for his friends and family. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held on Sunday, July 31, 2016, from 2 to 5 p.m. at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio, 45432. Private family services were held with interment following in New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to 4 Paws for Ability, 253 Dayton Ave., Xenia, Ohio, 45385.
