The Bethel Township Community Group hosted its first community dinner in the newly-restored basement of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church last Thursday, January 22.  The group has been forced to relocate its monthly community meals since the May floods ruined Good Shepherd’s basement with nearly four inches of wastewater.

The church’s kitchen, which the BTCG uses to prepare its community meals each month, was not exempt from the damage, as all of the appliances were ruined as well.  Last Thursday’s event was packed with attendees who were treated to a free spaghetti dinner.  Organizers with the BTCG said the crowd rivaled the numbers usually seen during holiday meals, which are their biggest events of the year.

The BTCG will host free community meals the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the basement of Good Shepherd Church on Styer Driver.
