It’s that time of year and the 2015 ANNUAL NEW CARLISLE BABY CONTEST is coming again to the Heritage of Flight Festival on October 3-4. Sponsored by Family and Youth Initiatives, babies under 2 years of age by October 3, 2015, are invited and encouraged to participate. Parents or friends need to bring a 5 x 7 or smaller picture of the baby to enter. On the back of the picture must be the following information: Baby’s name and address, birthdate, phone number, and parent’s name and address. Pictures can be brought in advance to the FYI headquarters at 468 N. Dayton Lakeview Rd., New Carlisle, or brought during the festival and given to the booth—which will be located on Main Street.

Voting can take place two ways. When a baby is registered people can vote immediately at the FYI office and at the festival until 4pm at the festival. Babies registered at the festival will be able to vote at the festival itself There will be two categories of winners: one for the baby getting the most votes and one a random draw for all the babies entered. Voting will by financial donations given by family, friends, and the public at the festival. Voting will end on Sunday at 4PM and money for each will be counted and the first winner determined. Then the second winner will be determined by a random draw and will be announced at the same time. There is a $3 donation entry fee, which will go toward the donations the baby receives during the festival.

Monies collected for the contest will be used to buy car seats and other needs for babies in need at the Women’s Network. That program of FYI helps parents with parenting and life skills and allows them to get almost anything they need for their babies up to 3 years of age. The agency has been in business since 1978 and thousands of babies have received cribs, car seats, strollers, clothing, high chairs, monitors, food and formula, plus many other needed items. There are both classes for Moms and Dads and hours in New Carlisle are Tuesdays from 9-2pm and Wednesdays from 4-7pm. For more information, please call the FYI office at 845-0403.
