Nearly three hundred people lined the main hall of the Dayton International Airport Saturday evening to surprise the returning veterans from Honor Flight Dayton.

Saturday marked the fourth charter flight of 2015 for Honor Flight Dayton. 86 veterans flew to Washington, D.C. to tour the war memorials, including nine World War II vets, 42 Korean War vets, and 35 from Vietnam.

The group was given royal treatment during their trip, arriving in D.C. to a fanfare of the local fire department arcing water jets over the plane. They were also granted a police escort to each stop along the way, which included the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam memorial wall, Lincoln Memorial, Air Force Memorial, and the Marines Memorial.

Honor Flight Dayton is accepting veteran applications for trips, with World War II veterans being taken first. To sign up a loved one for a trip, visit www.honorfightdayton.org.
