According to witnesses, a pickup truck driver was eastbound on Rt. 40, waiting to turn left onto Lake Rd. when he was struck from behind by a white Honda.
The force of the impact opened the truck’s tailgate and an engine and a transmission that were in the bed of the truck fell onto the Honda’s hood, then onto the street.
New Carlisle Fire crews, who arrived to assist Bethel Township Fire crews, spread absorbent material on the oil.
There were no reported injuries.
The accident is under investigation by the Ohio State Patrol.
