The New Carlisle Public Library wrapped up their adult summer reading with a drawing for all adults who completed a passport. The passport required each participating adult to complete six activities and to read six books. The activities included programs at the library, an architecture work sheet, downloading a book onto a Kindle. Participants selected the six books.

The library awarded two Kindle Fire HD 8. One Kindle Fire was awarded to Katie Weneck and the other went to Sara Anne Rosenbaum. Bill Serra received complimentary tickets to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for the 2017-2018 season. Emily Herrick won a meditation Coloring Book with colored pencils. All participants who completed a passport received a coupon for Chipotle.

In addition, on August 8, 2017 the library will host Joe DeKold from Stillwater Stargazers who will talk about summer stargazing and the solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. Each family that attends will make and take a solar eclipse gazer. Pre-registration is required. To make a reservation, call the library at 845-3601 with your name and the number of participants in your party.

The library will close at 2:00 p.m. on August 5, 2017 for the parking lot repaving. The lot will not be open until Tuesday, August 8, 2017. The library will extend the due dates for all library materials by one day to cover the closing.
