Clark County Department of Job & Family Services (CCDJFS) and The Heritage Center invite local families to Summer Sky, a free outdoor event for children and their families. The eighth annual Summer Sky festival will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 1 – 5 p.m. in the parking lot of The Heritage Center in downtown Springfield. The festival will feature games, music and activities for kids.

Activities will include inflatable bounce houses and games, face painting, juggling and puppet show entertainment, crafts and carnival games. Several science and animal exhibits will be set up throughout the event, featuring the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, COSI Science Center, and the Bugman. New events this year include; a barrier enclosed hockey-to-go provided by Chiller and an interactive wheel, prizes and mascot from Sonic. Free horse-drawn carriage rides will also be offered during the event. Between activities, families may enjoy live music and entertainment, including DJ Nettie Carter-Smith, a photo booth, and Project Jericho’s Bucket Band.

There will also be free food and drinks, as well as door prize drawings for attendees.

“The Heritage Center is pleased to collaborate with the Clark County Department of Job and Family Services in presenting an afternoon of free family events,” said Ardath Dellapina, Education and Program Director at The Heritage Center. “We invite the community to join us for a day of summertime fun!”

It’s a perfect way for families to enjoy the last of summer.”
